Abstract

A multilingual person can speak, write, and understand numerous languages. It involves using two or more languages in varied circumstances and purposes. The paper examines multilingual English language teaching problems. The report uses a literature review to compare researchers' opinions. The study article examines multilingual schooling in several countries. Multilingual education advocates also acknowledge their obstacles. Teachers face challenges teaching English in multilingual classes due to linguistic diversity. Due to fear of making mistakes, multilingual students typically lack English confidence. The curriculum may not improve English competence. In multilingual classrooms, language education must be student-centered and take into account learners' needs and backgrounds, according to the study.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan platform media pembelajaran berbasis digital pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) dan Bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan yaitu 4D (define, design, develop, and disseminate). Penelitian ini hanya sampai pada tahap pengembangan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 050659 Stabat. Subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas IV yang terdiri dari 16 siswa laki-laki dan 24 perempuan. Objek dalam penelitian yaitu platform media pembelajaran berbasis digital. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan angket. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian yaitu analisis kelayakan platform media pembelajaran berbasis digital. Berdasarkan hasil validasi yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa hasil produk yang telah divalidasi oleh para ahli yaitu ahli materi dengan persentase 88,93% dikategorikan layak, ahli bahasa yaitu dengan persentase 91,65% dikategorikan sangat layak, dan ahli media dengan persentase 94,00% dikategorikan sangat layak. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa platform media pembelajaran berbasis digital sangat layak untuk digunakan di sekolah dasar. Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pelatihan yaitu untuk untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam pembelajaran. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 055999 Pasar X Kwala Bingai dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 18 orang dan jumlah pemateri sebanyak 4 orang. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode ceramah, praktik dan diskusi. Sedangkan kegiatan ini menggunakan fase persiapan, fase pelaksanaan dan fase evaluasi. Pelatihan digital untuk guru di sekolah dasar memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kompetensi digital guru. Para peserta menunjukkan peningkatan yang cukup berarti dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan menggunakan teknologi dalam konteks pendidikan. Meskipun terdapat beberapa tantangan terkait fasilitas dan akses teknologi, seperti keterbatasan perangkat dan koneksi internet, mayoritas peserta merasa lebih siap dan percaya diri untuk menerapkan teknologi dalam pembelajaran mereka. Pelatihan ini juga memperkuat kemampuan guru secara digital, meningkatkan efektivitas pengajaran, serta mempersiapkan siswa untuk menghadapi tantangan dunia digital di masa depan. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini berhasil memenuhi tujuan untuk memberdayakan guru dengan keterampilan digital yang relevan dan aplikatif.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of animated videos to improve English reading skills. This study is a research and development (Research and Development) which aims to produce learning media in the form of animated videos that can improve the English reading skills of junior high school students. The development model used is the 4D model, namely define, design, development and dissemination. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Stabat. The subjects of the study were 32 grade VII students. The object of the study was animated videos. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, questionnaires and tests. This study will use analysis techniques, namely (1) analysis of the feasibility of animated videos; (b) analysis of the effectiveness of animated videos. Based on the validation results from material experts, a percentage of 86.78% was obtained which was included in the "feasible" category. While the validation results from media experts showed a higher percentage, namely obtaining a percentage of 94.65% which was included in the "very feasible" category. There has been an increase in the English reading skills of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Stabat. This is proven by the average pretest of 56.6 and the average posttest of 80.6. So the percentage increase is 42.65%. And the average N-gain of students is 0.5535 or 55.35% which is included in the moderate category. This shows that the increase in students' English reading ability after learning is quite significant. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that animated videos to improve English reading ability are feasible and effective for use in SMP Negeri 1 Stabat.

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kapasitas calon pengelola jurnal hukum di bawah Fakultas Bisnis dan Humaniora yang mengalami keterlambatan terbit akibat rendahnya pemahaman teknis dan manajerial terhadap sistem Open Journal System (OJS). Metode yang digunakan meliputi tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan berupa identifikasi kebutuhan melalui wawancara, pelaksanaan melalui pemberian materi dan simulasi penggunaan OJS secara daring, serta evaluasi melalui observasi partisipatif dan umpan balik peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman teknis dan motivasi peserta dalam mengelola jurnal secara profesional. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini efektif membekali peserta dengan keterampilan dasar pengelolaan jurnal berbasis OJS dan mendapat respon positif, meskipun tantangan masih ada dalam hal perbedaan latar belakang kemampuan peserta. Program ini memiliki potensi untuk dilanjutkan dalam bentuk pelatihan berseri guna mendorong terbitnya jurnal ilmiah yang berkualitas dan berdaya saing.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of group counseling services in increasing students' confidence in speaking English. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study type of research. Literature study is a method of collecting data through an in depth review of relevant literature and theories. The data sources used in this study are scientific journal articles. Data collection was carried out through documentation studies and literature searches with the following steps: (a) determining search keywords such as group counseling, self confidence, English speaking skills, group guidance and counseling, and student self confidence, (b) searching scientific literature using online databases such as Google Scholar, Research Gate, ERIC (c) selecting and selecting relevant sources based on eligibility criteria, namely sources published in the last five to ten years, scientific in nature, and directly related to the research topic, and (d) recording and classifying the findings according to the discussion theme, for example group counseling theory, factors that influence self- confidence, and empirical findings on the application of group counseling in English learning. The data analysis technique used is content analysis. The analysis steps include: (a) data reduction, (b) data classification, (c) data interpretation, and (d) drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that group counseling services have an important role in increasing students' confidence in speaking English through the process of social interaction, self reflection, and emotional support between group members. The dynamics formed in counseling activities help students overcome anxiety, embarrassment, and fear of speaking in public, while also fostering courage to express opinions.

Abstract

Abstrak: Di era digital saat ini, guru dituntut untuk mampu menghadirkan media pembelajaran yang kreatif dan kontekstual guna membentuk karakter siswa yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Pancasila. Kegiatan pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi pendidikan, khususnya dalam hal pembuatan video animasi pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan teknologi, tetapi juga menjadi sarana strategis dalam menyampaikan nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam profil pelajar pancasila. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan video animasi dalam rangka memperkuat profil pelajar pancasila dilakukan secara langsung di SD Negeri 057205 Stabat Lama. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan pada hari Kamis, tanggal 24 April 2025, mulai pukul 08.00 hingga 17.30 WIB. Jumlah peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan ini sebanyak 28 orang guru dari sekolah tersebut. Pelatihan ini juga diiringi dengan sesi pendampingan secara langsung, yang difokuskan pada pembuatan video animasi bertema nilai-nilai dalam profil pelajar pancasila. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam proses pelatihan meliputi ceramah, praktik langsung, serta diskusi kelompok. Tahapan kegiatan dilaksanakan secara sistematis, dimulai dari (a) tahap persiapan, (b) tahap pelaksanaan, dan (c) tahap evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil rekapitulasi kuesioner dari peserta latihan dengan rata-rata 92,20%. Dari hasil kegiatan pelatihan yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa guru-guru telah memiliki keterampilan dasar dalam menggunakan aplikasi pembuatan animasi dan mampu menciptakan konten yang sesuai dengan konteks pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.Abstract: In today's digital era, teachers are required to be able to present creative and contextual learning media in order to shape students' characters in accordance with pancasila values. This training activity aims to improve teacher competence in designing and producing educational animated videos that are relevant to strengthening the Pancasila character. The implementation of the animated video making training activity in order to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students was carried out directly at SD Negeri 057205 Stabat Lama. This activity was held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, starting at 08.00 to 17.30 WIB. The number of participants who took part in this activity was 28 teachers from the school. This training was also accompanied by a direct mentoring session, which focused on making animated videos with the theme of values in the Pancasila student profile. The methods used in the training process include lectures, direct practice, and group discussions. The stages of the activity are carried out systematically, starting from (a) the preparation stage, (b) the implementation stage, and (c) the evaluation stage. Based on the results of the questionnaire recapitulation from training participants with an average of 92.20%. From the results of the training activities that have been carried out, it shows that teachers have basic skills in using animation creation applications and are able to create content that is appropriate to the context of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Background: Literacy and numeracy are fundamental competencies in fostering critical thinking skills in early childhood; however, early childhood education teachers in Stabat District, Langkat Regency, face limitations in integrating literacy and numeracy instruction with the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Objective: This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in implementing SDGs-based literacy and numeracy learning in a contextual and meaningful manner. Methods: The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach over three months, comprising stages of socialization, training, and workshops; implementation of educational technology; mentoring; and evaluation. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test instruments, classroom observations, and teacher reflections, and were analyzed descriptively by comparing pre- and post-intervention conditions. Results: The findings indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ average understanding of literacy (from 56.4 to 82.1), numeracy (from 53.8 to 80.6), and the integration of the SDGs (from 48.2 to 79.3). In addition, one-way instructional practices decreased from 72.5% to 20.0%, while interactive learning increased to 80.0%, and the use of innovative learning media reached 85.0%. Conclusion: The SDGs-based literacy and numeracy approach effectively strengthened teachers’ pedagogical competencies and promoted more interactive, contextual, and sustainable early childhood learning practices.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to improve speaking skill of English House Course students through English camp strategy. This was an pre-experimental research using one group on pre-test and post-test design, the population of this research was the students of English House Course which has 80 students. Because the total number of the population was big enough, the researcher took 20 samples and applied random sampling technique; it means that one class of the population were taken as samples and the data was analyzed into percentage, mean score analyzes and the value of the t-test. The result of the data analyzes shows that the students’ achievement on the pre-test was 71,7 and post-test was 86,1. This shows that English camp is a good strategy in English learning process at the students of English House Course Langkat. After analyzing the data by using the t-test formula, the result of the t-test value (11,86) was greater than t-table value (2,093). This indicated that the hypothesis of research is accepted. There is a significant Influence of English camp program towards the students’ achievement in English learning process. The researcher does English camp in English House Course Langkat Kabupaten Enrekang for five days and it gives positive effect of students’ skill in speaking. All item of learning achievement able to improve the students’ speaking skill. Keywords: Speaking Skill; English Camp

Abstract

This paper intends to explore the connection between vocabulary development and cartoon movies, specifically focusing on how cartoon movies can be effectively utilized to teach vocabulary. Vocabulary encompasses a collection of words that convey a wide array of meanings. Cartoons, although primarily designed for children's entertainment, can also serve as valuable educational tools. With the objective of establishing the correlation between cartoons and education, the author has produced a research paper titled "Enhancing English Vocabulary Acquisition for Junior High School Students through the Use of Cartoon Movies." The primary goal of this paper is to contribute to the English learning process of children, specifically targeting those aged seven to fourteen. The paper delves into the utilization of cartoon movies as a means to facilitate the learning of English vocabulary among children. The central focus of this study revolves around investigating the instructional approach of employing audiovisual materials, particularly cartoon movies. The paper adopts a survey methodology to collect data on the effectiveness of employing cartoon movies to enhance the English vocabulary of first-year junior high school students.The findings of this study affirm that cartoon movies, exemplified by works like "Animal Song for Children," can indeed serve as a potent medium to foster the development of English vocabulary among children.
