Abstract

A research on the activity of the central nervous system stimulant of some bottled energy drinks on the market for white mice (Mus musculus, L.) has been done. The samples labelled Minuman Energi (ME) 1, ME 2, ME 3, ME 4 and ME 5 and administered perorally. Each sample has administration volume of 0.4 mL/20g BW. Comparator used is caffeine (6.5 mg/Kg BW). Parameters used for stimulant activity were endurance tested using Rotary road, while  motoric activity and curiosity tested using Automatic Hole Board. From the research that has been done, it is known that ME 1, ME 2, ME 3, ME 4 and ME 5 has a central nervous system stimulant activity by increasing endurance, motoric activity and curiosity in mice significantly.

Abstract

Uji toksisitas adalah pengujian terhadap efek toksik suatu senyawa pada makhluk hidup dan sistem biologi lainnya. Telah dilakukan pengujian mengenai toksisitas sub akut dari fraksi daun bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides (L.) L.) menggunakan hewan percobaan mencit putih jantan. Hewan percobaan terdiri dari 36 ekor yang dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif, fraksi air daun bandotan dengan dosis 12,5 mg/kg BB, 25 mg/kg BB dan 50 mg/kg BB yang diberikan secara oral selama 21 hari. Parameter yang diamati pada uji toksisitas sub akut ini yaitu jumlah eritrosit, leukosit, trombosit dan nilai hematokrit menggunakan alat Hematology analyzer, efek toksisitas sub akut diuji pada hari ke-7, -14 dan -21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  pemberian dosis fraksi ekstrak etanol daun bandotan dapat mempengaruhi jumlah eritrosit dan trombosit (p < 0,05). Dan lama pemberian fraksi ekstrak etanol daun bandotan dapat meningkatkan jumlah leukosit (p < 0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa variasi dosis fraksi ekstrak etanol daun bandotan tidak memiliki efek toksik sub akut terhadap parameter hematologi darah, kecuali pada parameter leukosit.

Abstract

Influence of the ethanolic extracts of Sumateran ginseng (Talinum triangulare  (Jacq.) Willd) on SGOT and SGPT activities in serum of male mice induced CCl4 has been done. The extract was given orally once a day for 14, 21, and 28 days respectively,at various doses 125, 250, and 500 mg/kg BW. The group of mice treated with Na CMC 0,5 % was used as control. The results suggest a possible hepatoprotective potential of the ethanol extract of Talinum triangulare  can decrease the SGOT and SGPT activities on male mice induced CCl4.

Abstract

Pelayanan kefarmasian adalah suatu pelayanan langsung dan bertanggung jawab kepada pasien untuk meningkatkan mutu kehidupan pasien. Terjadinya perubahan paradigma dari drug oriented menjadipatient oriented menuntut petugas kefarmasian untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan dan perilaku agar kebutuhan, keinginan, harapan dan kepuasan dari masyarakat dapat dipenuhi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian di apotek rawat jalan RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang, hubungan  karakteristik pasien (jenis kelamin, umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan dan pendapatan) dengan kepuasan dan komponen dominan yang mempengaruhi kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan metode cross-sectionalmenggunakan intrumen Larson. Uji non-parametrikMann-Whitney digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan  jenis kelamin pasien dengan kepuasan pasien, sedangkan uji non-parametrikKruskal Wallis digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan dan pendapatan pasien dengan kepuasan pasien. Sebanyak 381 pasien di apotek rawat jalan RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang telah berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Secara umum tingkat kepuasan pasien adalah cukup puas, dengan rata-rata kepuasan 3,16. Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian dengan pendidikan dan pekerjaan (p < 0,05), sedangkan hubungan jenis kelamin, umur dan pendapatan dengan kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian tidak ada perbedaan makna (p > 0,05). Dimensi yang dominan mempengaruhi kepuasan pasien adalah dimensi Friendly Explanation di bandingkan Managing Teraphy.

Abstract

Research on central nervous system stimulant activity of the ethanol extract of Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume bark against female white mice with different levels of doses have been done. Testing done by observing the immune system by using a rotary road test, motor activity and sensory observations using automatic tool hole board, and observation of sleep and long sleep induction. Phenobarbital 50 mg / kg bw used as inducted . Preliminary trials showed that the ethanol extract of Cinnamomum zeylanicum blume with a dose of 500 mg / kg bw had an effect on the central nervous system. Whereas at the specific testing, the effect on the central nervous looks at a dose of 250 mg / kg bw, which showed a statistically significant difference compared with the control group of animals (P <0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of seed powder mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King) on the development of behavior, liver histology and hematology of pups mice. Experimental animals used were 45 female mice were divided randomly into 5 groups. Group 1 as a control group. Groups 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively mahogany seed powder given at a dose of 5, 10, 15, and 20 mg/20g/day from fetal life until lactation is completed. Developmental toxicity test carried out by behavioral test battery, observation of histology and hematology profile. The results showed that the provision of mahogany seed powder causes abnormal in the conduct reflex test and motor test on post natal day of 8 and 10, as well as the vision test on post natal day of 14-18. While the observation of liver histology and hematology profile did not show any effect.

Abstract

Karamunting is one of the plants used in traditional medicine of diabetes mellitus. The antidiabetic effect of aqueous fraction of Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Ait.) Hassk leaves has been investigated on male white mice that were induced with alloxan dose 200 mg/kgBW intraperitoneally. The fraction was given orally at dose 10, 20, 40 mg/KgBW for 15 days. Parameters that were measured are decrease concentration of blood glucose, body weight, urin output and water intake. Result showed that the aqueous fraction of Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Ait.) Hassk leaves at dose 10, 20, 40 mg/KgBW has effect on decreasing blood glucose level on diabetic mice induced alloxan (P<0.05). This fraction also improved body weight, urine output dan reduced water intake (P<0.05).

Abstract

Prospective observational study was conducted to investigate antibiotic using, by evaluating clinical pharmacokinetic and antibiotic quality on septic patient with kidney disorder in Interne Department at Hospital X. Septic patients with kidney disorder treated with antibiotic for 4 months. The evaluated antibiotic are excreted by kidney mainly. The clinical aspects of evaluation are kinds of antibiotic, dosage, frequency, period of treatment, and clinical drug interaction. The evaluation of antibiotic quality used Gyssens method. Total respondens were 40 patients, treated with 8 kinds of antibiotic. Among 8 of them, there were 5 antibiotic which were excreted mainly by kidney. From five antibiotics, it was found that the accurate dosage adjustment on 29 patients (74,3%), and unproperly adjustment in 10 patients (10,25%) that adjust upper individual dosage that calculate pharmacokinetically. There were five interactions that clinically significant. The evaluation of antibiotic using qualitatively by Gyssens method found that 4 patients (10%) as incomplete therapy/VI category, two patients (5%) were ineffective category IVa, 1 patient (2,5%) as unsafe category IVb, 9 patients (22,5%) as inappropriate dosage adjustment, and 23 patients (57,5%) as appropriate antibiotic category 0. Conclusion: Using antibiotic that mainly excreted by kidney in septic patients with kidney disorder, generally doesn’t show bad impact in kidney of patient.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun kitolod (Isotoma longiflora L. Presl.) terhadap aktivitas analgetik dan uji toksisitas pada mencit putih jantan telah dilakukan.. Hewan percobaan terdiri dari 30 ekor yang dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, pembanding (Asam mefenamat 65 mg/kg BB), dan ekstrak etanol daun kitolod dengan dosis 1; 2 dan 4 g/kg BB. Asam mefenamat dan ekstrak etanol daun kitolod diberikan secara oral selama 15 hari. Aktivitas stimulansia diuji pada hari ke-1, ke-5, ke-10, dan ke-15. Parameter yang diamati yaitu jumlah geliat hewan dengan metode writhing test. Pada pengujian aktivitas SGPT dan kadar kreatinin serum, hewan percobaan dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok (15 ekor/kelompok) yaitu kelompok kontrol yang diberikan Na CMC dan kelompok ekstrak etanol daun kitolod dengan dosis 1, 2, 4 g/Kg BB. Sediaan diberikan selama 15 hari secara oral. Aktivitas SGPT dan kadar kreatinin serum diukur dari serum pada hari ke-5, ke-10, dan ke-15 dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer microplate. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun kitolod dosis 1; 2; 4 g/kgBB dan lama pemberian mempengaruhi aktivitas analgetik (Sig < 0,05), dimana aktivitas terbesar ditunjukkan oleh ekstrak etanol daun kitolod dosis 4 g/kg BB. Ekstrak etanol daun kitolod terbukti tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap aktivitas SGPT dan kadar kreatinin serum. Hal ini dilihat dari tidak adanya perbedaan yang signifikan aktivitas SGPT dan kadar kreatinin serum kelompok uji dibandingkan dengan kelompok control (Sig > 0,05).

Abstract

Pneumonia is one of acute respiratory tract infection which a major causes mortality in children and infant. The role of antibiotics in reducing morbidity and mortality this infectious disease is still dominant. Improper use of antibiotics can lead to the development of bacteria resistant to antibiotics and the occurrence of toxicity/side effects of drugs. The objective of this study was to determine the appropriateness of dosage regimen of antibiotics in children with pneumonia compared to standard literature. The study was conducted by retrospective descriptive analysis, using medical records of children with pneumonia during 2013. The results showed inappropriateness in several dosage regimen of antibiotics, such as chloramphenicol (5%), meropenem (50%), erythromycin (100%), azithromycin (100%), ceftazidime (100%), clindamycin (100%), ampicillin (100%) and gentamicin (100%). The inappropriateness of frequency of administration (administration interval) was also found in ampicillin (50%), gentamicin (20%), and cefotaxime (100%). The inappropriateness of dosage duration was found in amoxicillin (44.45%), chloramphenicol (45%), gentamicin (70%), meropenem (33.34%), ceftriaxone (66.67%), ampicillin (50%), cefotaxime (100%). While the route of administration of antibiotics was 100% appropriate.
