Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social condition of Islamic education in Gunungsitoli, the contribution of the Ummi Kalsum Islamic Boarding School in Islamic Education in Gunungsitoli, and the involvement of alumni of the Ummi Kalsum Islamic Boarding School in the development of Islamic and social education in Gunungsitoli. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques with observation, interviews, and document studies. The results of the research in this thesis first; highlight that the development of Islamic education in Gunungsitoli is not as fast as in areas with a majority Muslim population. The main factor influencing this is Gunungsitoli's status as an area with a minority Muslim population, which makes Islamic education have to compete with other education systems that may be more dominant. In this context, the biggest challenge is how to increase the attractiveness of Islamic education in the midst of the diversity of society. Second; the contribution of the pesantren extends to the surrounding community through various service activities. Pesantren actively organizes programs such as religious counseling, social service skills training, and community-based economic empowerment activities. These activities are designed to provide real benefits to the community, while strengthening the role of pesantren as a center for the development of the people. Third; the contribution of alumni who return to Gunungsitoli to teach, become religious leaders, and support the construction of Islamic boarding schools. Alumni of the pesantren function as a liaison that strengthens the social network between the pesantren and the community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan membandingkan model-model integrasi ilmu yang dikembangkan di Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam (PTKI) di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan dan analisis komparatif, dengan menelaah dokumen institusional, buku akademik, dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan. Kajian ini bersifat deskriptif-analitis untuk mengidentifikasi landasan filosofis, kerangka epistemologis, simbol keilmuan, serta tantangan implementatif dari integrasi ilmu di PTKI. Fokus kajian diarahkan pada empat universitas, yaitu UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta dengan model integrasi dialogis, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta dengan paradigma integratif-interkonektif yang disimbolkan melalui jaring laba-laba keilmuan, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang dengan metafora pohon ilmu, serta UIN Sumatera Utara dengan paradigma Wahdatul ‘Ulûm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun masing-masing model memiliki kekhasan konseptual dan simbolik, seluruhnya berorientasi pada upaya mengatasi dikotomi ilmu agama dan ilmu umum. Tantangan utama yang dihadapi terletak pada aspek operasionalisasi integrasi ilmu dalam kurikulum, pembelajaran, dan riset interdisipliner. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada penguatan wacana integrasi keilmuan di PTKI serta memberikan dasar konseptual bagi pengembangan kebijakan akademik yang lebih implementatif.

Abstract

This study proposes a reconstruction of Islamic social education by re-evaluating the concept of Zakat through the lens of Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-Majid An-Nur by Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy. While Zakat is traditionally taught as a static pillar of jurisprudence (fiqh), this research identifies a critical pedagogical gap: its potential as a catalyst for social transformation remains underutilised. Employing a qualitative library research methodology, the study performs a thematic excavation of Zakat-related exegesis in Ash-Shiddieqy’s work, synthesising classical interpretations with modern social education theories. The findings reveal a “Qur’anic Sunnah” that inextricably links prayer (Salah) to Zakat, forming a dual mission of individual spiritual growth and collective societal improvement. Ash-Shiddieqy’s exegesis presents Zakat as a sophisticated instrument of thaharah (purification) across three dimensions: wealth, the soul, and the community. Furthermore, the study highlights an educational “shock therapy” in the text, in which the enforcement of Zakat, symbolised by the historical precedent of the first Caliphate, establishes an absolute social contract that transcends individual property rights. By expanding the interpretation of the eight asnaf (beneficiaries) into a framework for sustainable community development, this research offers a novel social-educational paradigm. The study concludes that reconstructing Islamic education through the Zakat concept shifts the pedagogical focus from passive ritualism to active orthopraxis, providing a humanistic framework essential for addressing contemporary moral crises and achieving structural social justice.

Abstract

This study research explores the importance of preserving local cultural values that embody character education, particularly within traditional performing arts such as the Dampeng Dance. This dance is an integral part of wedding ceremonies in the community of Subulussalam City and carries deep symbolic and ethical meanings. The objective of this study is to identify and analyze the character education values embedded in the Dampeng Dance and to assess their relevance to community life. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method was employed in this research. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Dampeng Dance contains character values such as cooperation, responsibility, religiosity, courtesy, and respect for ancestral traditions. These values are reflected in the dance movements, costumes, accompanying music, and the context of its performance within traditional ceremonies. The conclusion of this study affirms that the Dampeng Dance functions not only as a form of entertainment or aesthetic expression but also as an educational medium for instilling and preserving character education values among the people of Subulussalam across generations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara komprehensif pengantar, konsep, dan urgensi pendidikan multikultural di Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) dalam membentuk karakter anak yang toleran, inklusif, dan menghargai keberagaman. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada adanya kesenjangan antara konsep ideal pendidikan multikultural dengan implementasinya di lapangan, terutama terkait masih terbatasnya pemahaman guru dan minimnya pelatihan yang mendukung pembelajaran berbasis multikultural. Penelitian ini penting dilakukan mengingat PAUD merupakan tahap awal pembentukan karakter anak yang sangat menentukan sikap sosial di masa depan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif analitis.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan multikultural di PAUD mencakup empat pendekatan utama, yaitu content integration, knowledge construction, equity pedagogy, dan prejudice reduction. Keempat konsep tersebut berperan penting dalam membentuk pengalaman belajar yang inklusif dan bermakna bagi anak usia dini. Temuan penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan multikultural tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pengenalan budaya, tetapi juga sebagai proses pembentukan sikap sosial seperti toleransi, empati, dan keadilan sosial. Namun, implementasinya masih menghadapi kendala berupa rendahnya pemahaman guru dan keterbatasan pelatihan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penguatan kapasitas guru dan pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih inklusif agar pendidikan multikultural dapat berjalan optimal di PAUD.
