Abstract

The overarching aim of this community service program is to contribute significantly to the understanding of risk communication dynamics and its profound implications within broader societal contexts. Beyond mere dissemination of information, this initiative serves as a comprehensive study, delving into the intricate web of societal attitudes, perceptions, and the intricate pathways through which information traverses within communities. Central to this endeavor is the creation of educational videos geared towards enhancing community awareness, particularly targeting the youth in rural village settings. These videos, crafted by local youth in Surabaya, encapsulate not only informative content but also culturally nuanced messaging that resonates deeply with the intended audience. Methodologically, the program adopts a multifaceted approach. Firstly, it involves the online dissemination of educational materials, strategically targeting bustling areas in Surabaya, notably Petemon and Kaliasin. Secondly, it encompasses Focus Group Discussions with children, providing invaluable insights into their utilization of smartphone cameras and their perceptions of media content. Lastly, the program includes a hands-on video workshop, empowering children to actively participate in the creation of visual narratives, thereby fostering a sense of ownership and agency. The duration of the research spanned a comprehensive 15-day period, allowing for in-depth exploration and analysis of community dynamics and perceptions. The outcomes of these community engagement activities unveil nuanced layers of perception and understanding regarding COVID-19 prevention programs, particularly the government's vaccination efforts. Notably, there emerges a preference for peer-driven engagement, with individuals opting to involve those within their immediate social circles. Within this communal framework, the created videos serve as powerful tools, employing a blend of straightforward visual storytelling and everyday language to effectively communicate crucial messages, thereby fostering a sense of collective responsibility and empowerment within the community.

Abstract

This paper explores the intricate landscape of trademark protection within the realm of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). Trademarks, emblematic of brand identity and consumer trust, wield significant economic value and reputation. However, they are increasingly vulnerable to infringement, posing challenges to both proprietors and regulatory bodies. Against this backdrop, the efficacy of license agreements as a mechanism for mitigating trademark infringement is examined. Through a comprehensive analysis of contract law principles, including freedom of contract and good faith, this study elucidates strategies for bolstering trademark protection. Drawing upon legislative frameworks, contextual analysis, and case law, the paper proposes a nuanced approach to navigating trademark-related disputes. By fostering transparent and mutually beneficial relationships between brand owners and licensees, this framework seeks to uphold the integrity of trademarks while safeguarding market integrity. Ultimately, the paper advocates for a collaborative effort among stakeholders to ensure equitable practices and uphold the sanctity of trademarked goods and services in the global marketplace.

Retraction notice: This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief due to concerns related to authorship issues. This work is aimed at reexamining the well-known mark protection, particularly in Indonesia. It is sparked by a substantive gap, covering theoretical and practical elements in protecting well-known mark. The case rooted at the Indonesian Supreme Court decision that refers to the constitutive systems in mark registration and refused the Pierre Cardin proposal to invalidate the Indonesian local that used mark Pierre Cardin for his convection products. To analyze this case, this work will apply normative legal research. In the discussion section, this work elaborates the basic concepts of well-known mark, fundamental and core elements as well as the indicators or criteria of well-known mark. In addition, this work will compare some jurisprudences concerning the well-known mark protection. At the end, this work offers some substantive and pragmatic approaches in strengthening well-known mark protection. The substantive approach will discuss and examine some theories, norms, and policies used by judges in handling well-known mark cases. Whereas, the pragmatic approach underlines the importance of institutional networking and legal awareness improvement, particularly key society groups, e.g., university and industry, to control violation of well-known marks.

Abstract

Indonesia needs technology for industrial infrastructure, but it is still controlled by developed countries. Patent licensing agreements can help facilitate this process. However, Indonesia's patent registrations are slow due to a lack of regulations and internal factors. This study aims to analyze the role of patent licensing in transferring technology from developed to developing countries. Patent license agreements play a crucial role as a mechanism for technological development. Therefore, it is essential to find solutions to ensure an effective transfer of technology. This research employs a statutory and conceptual approach. The analysis follows a deductive method by examining general laws and regulations before drawing conclusions. The results show that several regulations related to technology transfer serve as the main reference for understanding why technology transfer is difficult to achieve and identifying its underlying causes. Once these causes are identified, appropriate solutions can be proposed. The lack of regulations in Indonesia’s legal framework for technology transfer hinders its full potential. In conclusion, Indonesia's technology transfer laws have not been effective due to the absence of clear implementation guidelines and strict penalties. Therefore, a specific law regulating technology transfer is needed, emphasizing its importance and benefits while ensuring a strong commitment from all relevant parties.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is crucial for meeting global food and nutritional needs, with East Java Province in Indonesia having the highest yields and being the safest sector from the pandemic. To maximize land area, land efficiency is essential, using superior seed varieties, chemical fertilizers, efficient irrigation systems, and modern agricultural tools. This research focuses on the agricultural community in Trawas Mojokerto and the efficiency of agricultural land in Duyung Village. Most farmers use sickles, hoes, animals, simple machines, and tractors for agriculture. A survey of 100 farmers in Duyung Village revealed that 44 people use sickles as traditional tools, while 23 use livestock for ploughing. Tractors are used for efficiency and energy savings but are rarely used due to lack of counseling from government institutions. Technological tools are used for specific soil types and must be rented before use. The majority of farmers need counseling to learn about the latest tools, and government assistance is lacking. The study also found that 68.9% of farmers do not use printed rice seeds, while 31.1% use them. Long rice seeds are preferred due to their quality and resistance to pests. The majority of farmers use direct soil irrigation systems, which vary in soil fertility levels. Fertilizer use varies, with 77.8% using urea and 20% using compost and urea. The Duyung Village community is efficient in land management, with most farmers understanding the importance of efficiency.
