Abstract

The tendency in math learning in classrooms is for teachers to explain the material according to what is in the available textbooks without making efforts to develop learning in accordance with the contextual realities of students' daily lives. As a result, students face difficulties in solving mathematical problems when encountering issues different from the example problems provided by the instructor. This research aims to implement a problem-based social arithmetic teaching module based on the contextual approach of Papua. The subsequent application's results will be observed to determine if it has an impact on students' problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension in elementary schools. The research stages include preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection for this research is done through observation, interviews, and tests of students' problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension. The research findings indicate that there is a partial difference in problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension between students taught with the arithmetic teaching module and those taught with the conventional teaching module used in schools. It can be concluded that there is a partial influence on students' problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension taught using the arithmetic teaching module and those taught using the conventional teaching module used in schools.

Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived as difficult and abstract by students, especially when learning materials are not connected to their daily lives. This is particularly relevant for indigenous students, whose cultural and environmental contexts are rarely represented in conventional textbooks. This research developed contextual mathematics learning worksheets that integrate natural elements and local culture to support indigenous students’ numeracy and literacy in Merauke. The study employed a four-D development model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The methodology involved field observations, curriculum analysis, expert validation, and classroom trials in selected elementary schools. The resulting learning material took the form of student worksheets featuring culturally relevant topics, such as calculating area and volume through local tools and traditional activities. Expert assessments rated the materials as highly appropriate in both content and media aspects. Furthermore, the implementation showed significant improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The paired sample t-test indicated a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. The normalized gain score of 0.28 placed the improvement in the medium category. These findings suggest that context- and culture-grounded learning materials can enhance the relevance and effectiveness of mathematics education for indigenous learners.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan membaca, menulis, dan berhitung (calistung) serta literasi finansial siswa. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan melalui pemanfaatan kebun sekolah dan kandang ternak mini. Permasalahan yang dihadapi adalah rendahnya kemampuan calistung dan literasi finansial siswa serta terbatasnya pemanfaatan lingkungan sebagai sumber belajar kontekstual. Program ini melibatkan sebanyak 44 peserta yang terdiri dari siswa dan guru SD Inpres Senayu dengan pendekatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) berbasis partisipatif. Program dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu persiapan dan sosialisasi, pelatihan guru, pengembangan kebun sekolah dan kandang ternak mini, implementasi pembelajaran terpadu, serta evaluasi dan monitoring. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pelatihan, pendampingan, praktik langsung, serta evaluasi melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan calistung dan literasi finansial siswa, dengan rata-rata peningkatan sebesar 31,1%. Selain itu, kompetensi guru dalam merancang dan melaksanakan pembelajaran terpadu juga mengalami peningkatan yang ditunjukkan melalui hasil pretest dan posttest pelatihan guru. Pemanfaatan kebun sekolah dan kandang ternak mini terbukti efektif sebagai media pembelajaran kontekstual yang mampu meningkatkan partisipasi, motivasi, dan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses belajar. Luaran kegiatan ini adalah model agro-ecoliteracy berbasis lingkungan yang terintegrasi dengan pembelajaran calistung dan literasi finansial. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa integrasi calistung dan literasi finansial melalui pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan merupakan pendekatan yang efektif dan inovatif, tidak hanya meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, tetapi juga memperkuat kompetensi guru serta menciptakan pembelajaran yang bermakna dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This research aims to study and analyze the phenomena of teacher motivation in teaching and continuing studies in Higher Education. This study used a qualitative phenomological approach, which involved as many as five participants from the teachers who continued their studies in the PGSD Department at Musamus University. The process of collecting data through interview and observation methods. The main motivational research results of teachers teaching largely because of motivation from outside, namely permanent employment and income, there is also an internal motivation that is serving the country, and awareness to contribute. Motivation for continuing studies is encouragement to adjust to government regulations. The factor of getting prosperity is the last motivation because there is awareness to serve as a teacher. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menganalisa fenomena motivasi tenaga pengajar dalam mengajar dan melanjutkan studi di Perguruan Tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis, yang melibatkan partisipan sebanyak lima orang guru yang melanjutkan studi di jurusan PGSD Universitas Musamus. Proses pengumpulan data melalui metode wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan motivasi utama guru mengajar sebagian besar karena motivasi dari luar, yaitu pekerjaan tetap dan mendapatkan penghasilan; motivasi internal untuk mengabdi kepada negara serta kesadaran untuk berkontribusi. Motivasi melanjutkan studi meliputi dorongan penyesuaian dengan peraturan pemerintah. Faktor mendapatkan kesejahteraan menjadi motivasi terakhir karena terdapat kesadaran untuk mengabdi sebagai guru.
