Abstract

Online learning can contribute to increased academic procrastination, often linked to low self-efficacy and perceived task value. This study investigates academic procrastination, self-efficacy, and task values from a gender perspective using a cross-sectional approach with students in their 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters. An independent t-test assessed differences between male and female students. Findings showed no significant differences in academic procrastination across genders in any semester; however, notable differences in self-efficacy and task value emerged only in the 5th semester. The lack of significant differences in procrastination is attributed to similarities in environmental, psychological, and social factors, alongside common challenges in time management and distractions. Male and female students demonstrated comparable self-efficacy due to shared academic settings, social support, and media influences, while similar task values stemmed from common interests and experiences. The differences in the 5th semester likely arise from increased academic demands and evolving social dynamics, including gender stereotypes. Future research should employ qualitative methods, such as interviews or focus groups, to gain deeper insights into student experiences. Longitudinal studies could also track changes in self-efficacy and task value over time for a more comprehensive understanding. Targeted interventions to enhance self-efficacy and task value could be particularly beneficial in semesters with significant differences, thereby addressing academic procrastination more effectively.

Abstract

Science learning in higher education is often detached from students' cultural context, thus reducing the relevance of the material and scientific concepts being learned. This study aims to examine how student involvement in a biosynthesis experiment of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from Plantago major L. and its antibacterial activity testing can improve students' understanding and attitudes regarding cultural context and science content. The study used a mixed-methods approach involving 34 Biology students in a series of laboratory activities, pretest-posttest knowledge evaluations, and narrative reflections. The characterization results showed an absorbance peak of AgNPs at 460 nm and indicated nanoparticles with uniform size. Meanwhile, AgNPs showed higher antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus than Salmonella typhi. Bayesian paired t-test analysis showed a significant increase in students' knowledge scores, and narrative reflections revealed a strengthening of attitudes towards recognizing culture as a source of science learning. These findings indicate that local resource-based laboratory learning activities are not only biologically relevant but also effective in shaping students' scientific understanding and are culturally meaningful.

Abstract

One of the problems in Indonesia that is still being discussed is stunting. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is supported by data from the Ministry of Health in 2021 which reached 24.4%, in 2022-2023 it will fall to 21.6%, and the government hopes that in 2024 it can fall to 14%. Stunting is not only about the problem of a child's height, but is more serious, which has an impact on the individual's quality of life due to malnutrition, which can lead to chronic diseases and a decrease in the child's intelligence level. This can affect the body and brain. Based on research in Protomulyo Village, it was found that the prevalence of babies below the red line was 27 under five, which occurred in babies aged 0 months-5 years. Establishment of food security in catfish cultivation in Protomulyo Village, District. South Kaliwungu can be a solution and can overcome the problem of stunting toddlers. Because catfish has a high protein content. The research method used is a qualitative method by conducting interviews and literature studies. The aim of this research is to determine the process of cultivating food security in catfish, the economic impact on food security in cultivating catfish, and the benefits of catfish as a form of effort to overcome stunting in toddlers

Abstract

This study examines trends, growth, and volatility in UM-PTKIN admissions as strategic indicators of institutional adaptability within Indonesia’s State Islamic Higher Education system. Using longitudinal administrative data from 2022 to 2025, the study applies a quantitative descriptive–comparative approach to analyze admissions dynamics across different types of State Islamic Higher Education Institutions, namely State Islamic Universities (UIN), State Islamic Institutes (IAIN), and State Islamic Colleges (STAIN). Admissions performance is assessed through a horizontal trend index, compound annual growth rates (CAGR), and year-to-year volatility measures. The findings reveal a persistent national-level contraction in UM-PTKIN participation, indicating structural pressures affecting centralized admissions pathways. However, institutional-level analysis demonstrates pronounced heterogeneity. UIN institutions experience the sharpest decline, characterized by negative growth and high volatility, reflecting heightened exposure to national competition. IAIN institutions display mixed but relatively resilient trajectories, while STAIN institutions exhibit strong positive growth and sustained upward trends, despite overall system-level contraction. Volatility patterns further indicate that admissions instability is closely linked to institutional positioning rather than institutional scale alone. These results suggest that UM-PTKIN admissions dynamics function as strategic signals of enrolment governance capacity rather than as isolated performance outcomes. The study contributes to enrolment management and institutional differentiation literature by extending these frameworks to faith-based public higher education contexts. Policy implications highlight the need for differentiated enrolment governance strategies that recognize institutional heterogeneity to support sustainable admissions planning within Indonesia’s Islamic higher education system.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic through the provision of structured assignments and independent assignments. This article is a type of quasi-experimental research. This study's population was all Biology Department students at one of the higher education institutions in Southeast Sulawesi. The sample of this study was 3rd-semester students who programmed the Biology Lesson Planning course, which consisted of two classes, namely Class A (giving structured assignments) and Class B (giving independent assignments), with a total of 27 students in each class. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the analysis of structured task learning motivation (3.37) was lower than the independent task learning motivation (3.54) and the t-count (1.70). Based on the test criteria, it can be said that H0 is rejected because the value of the t-count is greater than the value of the t-table (1.67). It can be concluded that there is a difference in learning motivation between the structured task experimental class and the independent task experimental class. Keywords: Independent assignments, learning motivation; structured assignments
