Abstract

The potential of agrofrestry to sequestrate carbon varies depending on the natural quality of sites and management practices. Agroforestry is a climate change mitigation activities. The aim of study was to estimate the carbon stock of agroforestry system at adjacent buffer zone of Lore Lindu National Park (LLNP). Research was carried out in two types of agroforestry stands (simple and complex) adjacent LLNP buffer zone in Palolo Sub District, Sigi District, Central Sulawesi. Estimation of biomass of tree, herbs, litter, necromass and root was based on an allometric equation. The carbon storage in soil was estimated based on the carbon organic content and bulk density of soil in30 cm of depth. The results of study showed that the total carbon stored in the simple agroforestry (125.97 MgC ha-1) was significantly lower than in the complex agroforestry (209.39 MgC ha-1). In addition, the aboveground carbon stock biomass (tree, herbaceous, necromass and litter) and belowground carbon stock (root and soil organic) in a simple agroforestry were 42.42 MgC ha-1 and 83.55 MgC ha-1, respectively. Whereas, the aboveground carbon stock biomass and belowground carbon stock in the complex agroforestry were 98.46 MgC ha-1 and 110.93 MgC ha-1, respectively. Based on the carbon stock estimation in six agroforestry plots in the buffer zones of Lore Lindu National Park, the complex agroforestry was likely to be more stable and more longer in storing carbon comparedto the simple agroforestry. Keywords: Agroforestry, biomass, carbon, climate change, Lore Lindu National Park

Abstract

Kata kunci: kepemimpinan, pembangunan desa, inklusi kooptative AbstractRural areas in Indonesia continue to face significant challenges related to high levels of poverty. Until 2020, data shows that rural areas account for around 12.82% of the poverty rate, while in urban areas it is only 7.28%. There is optimism regarding the potential for effective rural development, considering the proximity of villages to national natural resources. One important aspect of village development is social inclusion, which emphasizes fulfilling community rights, economic equality, participation and community empowerment. The main focus currently is the development of rural areas to improve the welfare of people in remote areas. The role of leadership, especially the inclusive-cooptative leadership model, is receiving increasing attention. This research uses the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method. This method is not only for data collection, but also as a tool for education and community empowerment, strengthening community capacity and participation in planning and implementing positive activities. The concept of social structure in traditional Kulawi society reflects the evolution in leadership, especially through an inclusive-cooptative approach. Even though there are conflicts in carrying out leadership functions, it appears that social inclusion in rural areas has a positive impact on poverty alleviation. This approach creates an inclusive environment that allows active participation of all components of society, ensuring sustainable economic and social development. Adoption of an inclusive-cooptative leadership model is the key to driving effective, efficient, equitable and just rural development. Keywords: leadership, village development, co-optative inclusion

Abstract

Nutrient deficiency in soil has a negative impact on plant growth and productivity. Limited use of chemical fertilizers and poor soil conditions encourage the need for environmentally friendly alternatives. One solution is the utilization of organic waste such as goat manure, rice husks, and bran as raw materials for compost fertilizer. This training aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of SETMA members at the Faculty of Forestry, Tadulako University, in processing organic waste into quality solid fertilizer. The training was carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation phase included theoretical sessions on nutrient content and material benefits, followed by hands-on practice in compost production, from mixing materials, fermentation using EM4, to storage. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests, post-tests, and observation during practice. The results indicated increased understanding and active participation among participants. This training not only equipped them with technical skills but also raised awareness about the importance of managing organic waste to support sustainable agriculture. It is expected that this activity can be widely implemented and serve as a model for environmental education in both academic and community settings.
