Abstract

This study examines the structure of futuristic environmental narratives as represented in the novel Cerita Bumi Tahun 2683 by Aesna. The purpose of this research is to describe the role of the narrator, the focalization or point of view, and the sequence of the fabula contained in the novel, based on Mieke Bal’s narratology theory. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach within the framework of narratology. The data source in this research is a science fiction novel that explicitly addresses futuristic environmental issues, namely Cerita Bumi Tahun 2683 by Aesna. The research data consist of narrative excerpts that represent futuristic environmental narration. Data collection was conducted using the reading and note-taking technique to obtain data relevant to the research topic. Data analysis employed content analysis based on Mieke Bal’s narratology theory. The findings reveal that the narrator plays roles such as enlivening the story, deepening the content, and influencing the interpretation of the narrative. Furthermore, three types of focalization were identified: zero focalization, internal focalization, and external focalization. In addition, the sequence of the fabula was found to be constructed through events, time, and setting.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the comparison of allegorical symbols in O's novel by Eka Kurniawan and Animal Farm by George Orwell, which includes comparison of symbolic shapes and their meanings. This study was a qualitative research with a comparative literary approach. This data were in the forms of allegory symbols, meaning symbols in the form of words, sentences and paragraphs in both novels. Data sources used were two novels entitled O and Animal Farm, as well as other supporting books. The results of this study indicate that there are similarities and differences in terms of the shape and meaning of symbols in both novels. The shape of the animal symbol is the form that dominates both novels. Based on the meaning, both novels the same describe the state of a country. These similarities and differences are based on the basis of affinity in comparable literature.

Abstract

Objective: Scientific literacy, a foundational literacy, is essential for students to develop from an early age to prepare them for addressing the challenges of the global era. Therefore, effective instructional interventions are required to facilitate students' transition from concrete to abstract thinking by employing meaningful real-world contexts.  This research tries to formulate the I-BATARA learning model to increase the student’s scientific literacy. Method: This study employed a conceptual model development approach to construct the I-BATARA learning model. Results: The results indicate that the proposed I-BATARA instructional model integrates Inquiry-Based Learning, process-oriented scaffolding, and the authentic context of batik tulis Tanjung Bumi Madura into a coherent instructional framework designed to enhance students' scientific literacy. Novelty: The I-BATARA learning model its comprehensive integration of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL), scaffolding, local wisdom, and scientific literacy instructional framework.

Abstract

Background. The issue in literary appreciation writing for UMM students of Indonesian Language Education needs an appropriate response. There are two causes Involved: technical and psychological Issues. Purpose. Despite adequate writing knowledge and skill, they experience challenges in writing literary appreciation. Method. Thus, it requires a comprehensive reconstruction of a new theory of clinical psycho-pragmatism, originating from psycholinguistics and clinical pragmatics, to address the issue. Results. The clinical psychopragmatic theory can be helpful as a research approach and potentially be the base of a new theory through knowledge reconstruction comprising ontologism, axiology, and epistemology. Conclusion. Thus, this theory, as a transdisciplinary theory, is more specific compared to a combination of psycholinguistics and clinical pragmatics.

Abstract

Copper nanoparticles are metal particles with a size range of 1–100 nm that have potential as antibacterial agents. This study aimed to determine the characteristics and antibacterial activity of copper nanoparticles synthesized using Stachytarpheta jamaicensis leaf extract as a bioreductor. The synthesis was carried out using a green synthesis method through the reduction of CuSO₄·5H₂O solution with Stachytarpheta jamaicensis leaf extract. Optimization was performed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with variations in the ratio of CuSO₄ to extract from 1:1 to 1:4 and pH variations from 7 to 11. The nanoparticles were characterized using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, FTIR, and PSA, while the antibacterial activity was evaluated using the well diffusion method. The results showed that the optimum conditions were obtained at a ratio of 1:4 and pH 8. The synthesized copper nanoparticles had a particle size of 17.03 nm with a maximum UV-Vis absorption wavelength at 310 nm. The Cu–O functional group was identified at a wavenumber of 598.91 cm⁻¹. The copper nanoparticles exhibited very strong antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa with an inhibition zone diameter of 21.96 mm, indicating their potential as an antibacterial agent.
