Abstract

The sunni-shiite conflict that occurred in Sampang, Madura has yet to be resolved.Therefore, this study aims to determine the process to fight the opinion that a conflictoccurred between the two. The research was conducted in the Karanggayam village,Omben and Blu'uran village, Karang Penang, Sampang, Madura and mansions PuspaAgro Sidoarjo with the phenomenological method. That is, the phenomenon understudy will be illustrated by personal experience of informants through interviews. Todetermine the validity of the data, then the triangulation on the data obtained. Resultsare the conflicts caused by differences of opinion between the two groups regarding themoral values of Islam. As migrant groups, Shiites openly against the public opinionwhich is believed by the local community (Sunni). The above measures, social isolationand threats carried out by the Sunnis that Shi'ites leave Shi'ism and move to the Sunnis.Nevertheless, Shiites remained adamant and against the social isolation. The actiontaken by the Shi'ite group contradicts with the assumption of spiral of silence theory,the theory which explains that there is a person's tendency to adhere to public opinionfor fear of being ostracized. Konflik Sunni-Syi'ah yang terjadi di Sampang, Madura sampai saat ini belum dapatdiselesaikan. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prosespertarungan pendapat yang terjadi hingga menimbulkan konflik diantara keduanya.Adapun penelitian ini dilakukan di desa Karanggayam, Omben, dan desa Blu'uran,Karang Penang, Sampang, Madura dan rumah susun Puspa Agro Sidoarjo denganmetode fenomenologi. Artinya, fenomena yang diteliti akan digambarkan denganpengalaman pribadi informan melalui wawancara mendalam. Untuk mengetahuikeabsahan data, maka dilakukan triangulasi sumber pada data yang didapat. Hasil yangditemukan adalah konflik tersebut terjadi akibat adanya perbedaan pendapat diantarakedua kelompok mengenai nilai-nilai ajaran Islam. Sebagai kelompok pendatang, Syi'ahsecara terang-terangan melawan pendapat umum yang diyakini oleh masyarakat sekitar(Sunni). Atas Tindakan tersebut, berbagai ancaman dan isolasi sosial dilakukan olehkelompok Sunni agar kelompok Syi'ah meninggalkan ajaran Syi'ah dan berpindah keSunni. Kendati demikian, Syi'ah tetap bersikukuh dan melawan isolasi sosial tersebut.Tindakan yang diambil oleh kelompok Syi'ah bertentangan dengan asumsi teori spiralkeheningan, dimana teori tersebut menjelaskan bahwa ada kecenderungan seseoranguntuk patuh terhadap pendapat umum karena takut dikucilkan.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the agent-structure relationship in ritual communication of sacred grave pilgrimage in Dewi Sekardadu at Sidoarjo. The multi-site ethnographic research method compares ritual communications and folklore at all Dewi Sekardadu’s sacred graves that spread across four cities involving Sidoarjo, Gresik, Lamongan, and Banyuwangi. The key informants were doorkeepers, grave caretakers, community leaders, pilgrims, and businessmen. The data was collected through direct observation, participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses Anthony Gidden’s structuration theory, referring to how the dynamic agent-structure is elaborated with the cultural meaning through the study of ritual communication. This finding implicates the development Gidden’s structuration theory for studying cultural and ritual communication in fishermen’s communities. First, the competent agent in Kepetingan succeeded changing the stigma of Kepetingan from a criminal area to a religious area through developing folklore and Nyadran ritual communication practice and grave pilgrimages. The ruler of the ritual communication arena has significance and dominance in changing the rule of ritual from spiritual practice into Islam. Second, Giddens doesn’t assume the existence of clustering of agents in society, so he couldn’t predict the way of sociocultural development of the fishermen’s community. Third, the Nyadran ritual communication structure became an identity for indigenous fishermen, which created the society structure for the grave pilgrimage in Kepetingan by the urban fishermen from Gresik and Lamongan with the identity of cultural-Islamic ritual communication.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi komunikasi pariwisata Dewan Kesenian Daerah (Dakesda) Sidoarjo dalam mempromosikan wisata budaya yang ada di Sidoarjo. Eksplorasi strategi komunikasi pariwisata menjadi penting karena sampai saat ini wisata budaya di Sidoarjo masih tertinggal dibandingkan dengan kota-kota di sekitarnya, seperti Surabaya, Mojokerto, Pasuruan, dan Malang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif studi kasus, yakni memfokuskan riset pada fenomena spesifik, yaitu strategi komunikasi pariwisata yang dilakukan oleh Dakesda Sidoarjo. Adapun informan kunci dalam penelitian ini adalah ketua umum, ketua program, dan ketua bidang kebudayaan Dakesda Sidoarjo. Data yang didapat melalui observasi lapangan dan wawancara mendalam pada informan kunci kemudian ditriangulasikan dengan sumber lain seperti keterangan dari akademisi, pebisnis yang terlibat dalam pariwisata, media, dan juga wisatawan, selain juga dilakukan konfirmasi keabsahan data melalui dokumentasi selama riset ini berlangsung. Hasil penelitian ini ada dua, pertama, strategi komunikasi pariwisata Dakesda menggunakan model penta helix, dimana setiap even kebudayaan yang mengarah pada promosi wisata budaya dikolaborasikan oleh Dakesda Sidoarjo dengan program kerja akademisi, pemerintah, komunitas, media, dan pebisnis. Kedua, promosi wisata budaya yang dilakukan oleh Dakesda Sidoarjo selalu melibatkan generasi muda. Hal ini dilakukan untuk mengenalkan kebudayaan lokal pada generasi muda agar wisata budaya di Sidoarjo diketahui secara massif dan berkelanjutan. Selain itu, Dakesda Sidoarjo sedang menyiapkan paket wisata edukasi museum kebudayaan sebagai respon terhadap kebijakan pemerintah terkait pembelajaran luar ruang yang dinilai masih kurang mengenalkan sejarah dan kebudayaan lokal pada generasi muda.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid 19 berdampak pada penurunan penghasilan pelaku usaha mikro sayur organik di kecamatan Gempol, Pasuruan hingga 50%. Penurunan itu terjadi akibat konsumen yang beralih pada sayur konvensional, dan tidak adanya inovasi pemasaran dari produsen. Tujuan dilakukannya pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengenalkan inovasi technopreneurship pada pelaku usaha sayur organik terdampak pandemi Covid 19 berupa integrated marketing communication. Metode yang digunakan adalah partisipasi aktif dari mitra, masyarakat sekitar, dan pemuda desa. Mitra sebagai pelaku usaha bersinergi dengan masyarakat sekitar yang memiliki usaha pembibitan lele dan budidaya ikan cupang untuk membuat rumah produksi bersama, yang di dalamnya terdapat proses packaging dan digital marketing dengan bantuan pemuda desa. Tim pengabdi mengambil peran sebagai inisiator dan konseptor yang merancang bentuk rumah produksi, bentuk pengemasan, dan strategi pemasaran memanfaatkan media online instagram dan youtube serta pemasaran offline melalui wisata eko edukasi. Hasil yang didapat dari pengabdian ini adalah terciptanya rumah produksi, green packaging dan media pemasaran yang saling terintegrasi. Dalam rumah produksi terdapat mini green house yang terhubung dengan akuaponik lele dan pameran ikan cupang sebagai rintisan wisata eko edukasi. Penggabungan usaha warga ini terbukti dapat menarik simpati anak-anak dan pemuda untuk berkunjung ke lokasi mitra untuk membeli sayur organik. Hal ini tentu dapat menjadi konten pemasaran di akun youtube dan instagram mitra, yang selanjutnya dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menjual hasil panen secara pre order.

Abstract

Digital culture has transformed the ways individuals create, interpret, and share personal experiences, including marriage. On X (formerly Twitter), the narrative of “Marriage at the KUA” articulates a discourse centered on simplicity, efficiency, and resistance to consumerism in marital practices. This study employs a qualitative approach using narrative analysis to examine how meaning is constructed within digital cultural communication. Narrative analysis enables an exploration of how narratives are produced, circulated, and negotiated in digital spaces. Drawing on digital narrative theory, which conceptualizes social media as a space for documenting lived experiences and generating social meaning, this study finds that the “Marriage at the KUA” narrative is shaped through the affirmation of simplicity, the reinforcement of legality and religiosity, and a romanticization grounded in realistic expectations. Ultimately, this narrative has evolved into a form of digital cultural practice that fosters online communities, provides social validation, and reflects shifting marriage norms within urban digital societies.

Abstract

The management of household waste remains a major challenge in society, especially in densely populated rural and urban areas. The practice of open burning of waste is still often carried out because it is considered quick and practical, despite its negative impacts on health and the environment. The smoke from burning can trigger respiratory diseases, reduce air quality, and accelerate global warming. In light of this issue, the 2025 KKN-T 23 UMSIDA students initiated a community service program by introducing an innovation in the form of an environmentally friendly waste bin that can reduce the practice of waste burning. This waste bin is designed with a system for separating organic and inorganic waste and special ventilation that accelerates the natural decomposition process. Through a participatory approach, students involve the community in the planning, creation, and testing of the innovative trash bins. The results of the activities show an increase in community awareness in sorting waste, a decrease in the habit of burning waste, and an improvement in the quality of the surrounding environment. This program has also successfully fostered collaboration between students, village officials, and residents in creating a greener and healthier environment. This trash bin innovation is hoped to be a sustainable model that can be implemented in various areas as a simple yet effective solution for community-based waste management.

Abstract

This scientific article investigates the construction of political identity through hashtag movements on Instagram, focusing on the "#kadrun" hashtag related to Anies Baswedan, a presidential candidate for the 2024 election in Indonesia. Using the framing analysis method by Zhong Dang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicky, the study examines the structural dimensions of political identity content by observing and analyzing the hashtag from October 3, 2022, to May 3, 2023. The results reveal three Instagram accounts actively contributing and acting as political identity buzzers, uploading 89 to 92 contents within seven months. The hashtag frames Anies Baswedan and his supporters as a radical Islamic group, seeking to establish a caliphate, and intolerant, potentially leading to political polarization based on religion, community, and ethnicity in the upcoming election. These findings hold implications for understanding the impact of social media content on political discourse and polarization, especially among young active voters who rely on Instagram as a source of information during elections. Highlight: Research Scope: The study explores the construction of political identity on social media, particularly through hashtag movements on Instagram related to the 2024 presidential candidate in Indonesia, Anies Baswedan, and the "#kadrun" hashtag. Framing Analysis: Utilizing the framing analysis method by Zhong Dang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicky, the research examines the structural dimensions of political identity content on Instagram, focusing on message characteristics and content design from October 3, 2022, to May 3, 2023. The hashtag spreads messages identifying Anies Baswedan as a radical Islamic group, causing potential religious-based political polarization, as seen in the 2019 Election. Additionally, ethnic elements now contribute to polarization based on religion, community, and ethnicity in the 2024 elections.
