Abstract

Purpose – This study intends to scrutinize the relationship between oil and gold prices on Indonesia’s Islamic stock market before and during the war between Russia and Ukraine, and compare the nature of sharia and conventional stock during the period of study.Methodology – This study uses daily price data of oil price, gold, Islamic index, and LQ45 index. The period spans from 2020 to 2022, which is split into two sub-periods: pre-war and during the war period. Structural vector autoregression (SVAR) was used for data analysis.Findings – This study provided three main findings. First, the Islamic index was found to be more exogenous than conventional stock, implying the safe haven properties of Islamic stock. Second, oil prices have a negative and significant impact on both conventional and Islamic stocks. However, Islamic stocks are less affected by oil price shocks than conventional stocks. Lastly, Gold is a safe haven asset for both Islamic and conventional stocks.Implications – This study is expected to be beneficial for Islamic investors making investment decisions, particularly in the war period, which is still ongoing and more specific for taking advantage of diversification opportunities.Originality – Despite a huge number of studies that investigate the Islamic stock – oil price nexus, this study uncovers the impact of the most recent geopolitical tension during the Russia-Ukraine War.

Abstract

The accuracy of stock price prediction is an important aspect for investor in order to gain maximum returns. Technical analysis is one of stock analysis which argue that future stock prices are formed by price movements and the stock price pattern itself. One of modelling techniques in technical analysis that widely used is Box Jenkins Model or technically named as Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA). This research aims to predicting stock index through ARIMA.  Having high liquidity and known as blue chip index in Indonesia, LQ45 will be used as data samples, that is daily stock index in period of Januari 2016 to November 2018. Data analysis started by running stationarity test, followed by determination of ARIMA model and paired sample t-test to measure the model’s effectivity. The research result shows that the data stationary after first differencing, and the best model is ARIMA (2,1,1). Model having fairly high R-squared and minimum RMSE namely 98.3% and 9.946 resepctively. This model then used to predict future stock index in the next 15 days. Furthermore, paired t-test was run and shows that there is no significance differences between actual and predicted values, indicated that ARIMA model successfully forecast LQ45 stock index.

Internal factors examined include credit risk, liquidity risk, BOPO, debt, intellectual capital, and bank capital. The type of research data used is quantitative data in the form of secondary data, namely published financial reports from 2018 to 2022 on the Financial Services Authority (OJK) website. Based on data from the OJK, there are 19 rural banks in Jambi Province with 95 data used as samples.  The analysis was conducted using panel regression through the Eviews software. The results of the analysis indicate that BOPO and bank capital have negative impact on bank performance. On the other hand, debt has a positive effect on bank performance as measured by ROA but a negative effect as measured by ROE. Meanwhile, credit risk, liquidity risk, and intellectual capital do not have a significant impact on bank performance.

Abstract

Purpose — This study examines how economic growth, green finance, and renewable energy affect environmental quality (CO2 emissions) under the Environment Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis framework. Methods — This study uses data from ASEAN-6 developing countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Cambodia, from 2000 to 2020. It employs Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL), which is widely used for time series analysis since it can capture the short-run and long-run effects among variables.Findings — The result shows the presence of the EKC Hypothesis in ASEAN developing countries. Green Finance and Renewable Energy reduce CO2 emissions only in the long run. In contrast, in the short run, Green Finance shows no effect in lowering CO2 Emissions due to initial costs, infrastructure challenges, market dynamics, and delayed policy implementation; the effect seems to increase in the long run as economies evolve, technologies mature, and awareness of environmental issues rises within emerging economies.Implication — This study suggests that ASEAN developing countries should enhance their green finance efforts and expedite the transition to renewable energy by attracting additional investments in green finance and renewable energy transition. Governments in the Southeast Asian region must improve their policies and laws. Originality — Revisiting the EKC hypothesis by including Green Finance within the ASEAN-6 emerging countries, which has been scarcely conducted in recent literature, this study contributes to the region's policymakers regarding green finance allocation and its relationship to environmental quality.

Abstract

Digital transformation has changed people's preferences in transactions, especially in choosing e-wallet-based payment methods. Although the growth potential of e-wallets in Indonesia is quite large, the adoption rate remains below expectations among Generation X and Y, who have greater purchasing power compared to Generation Z. While younger users tend to adopt e-wallets more easily, older generations still show inconsistent usage behavior, indicating that achieving sustainable adoption remains a challenge. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence continuance intention in the use of e-wallet services among Generations X and Y in Batam City. A total of 155 respondents from both generations were involved through the distribution of online questionnaires. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling approach. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach with the help of the SmartPLS application. The results of this study indicate that perceived security and utilitarian value significantly influence continuance intention. Meanwhile, utilitarian value and continuance intention significantly influence e-wallet usage. Additionally, continuance intention is proven to mediate the relationship between perceived security and e-wallet usage. Generation X users tend to prioritize security and personal data protection when deciding to continue using e-wallets, whereas Generation Y users focus more on convenience and functional benefits. Therefore, these findings are expected to contribute to e-wallet service providers and policymakers in designing strategies to address these generational differences to strengthen long-term adoption.
