Abstract

Research of bioaccumulation of Pb and Cr in vertical biofiltration systems with bacterial inoculum derived from aquatic sediments South Denpasar aims to get the best sediment sources that can be used as an active suspension to process metals Pb and Cr dissolved. Sediment samples taken from some waters are ecosystems Mangrove Statue Ngurah Rai Tuban, Benoa Harbour and Estuary Dam Suwung. Each sediment samples were grown in a liquid medium to get the best active suspension, which was determined by an increase in biomass ( VSS ) and the speed of growth. Best active suspension is used as inoculum in the vertical biofilters to decreaseconcentration of Pb and Cr dissolved. Ability of vertical biofilter is determined by their effectiveness in lowering levels of Pb and Cr and capacity of the system used. The results showed that the vertical biofiltration system capable of lowering the concentration of Pb and Cr to each concentration became 0.1680 ppm and 0.1460 ppm within 6 hours of treatment with initial concentration of 2 ppm respectively. The results showed that the vertical biofiltration system capable of decreasing the concentration of Pb and Cr became 0.1680 ppm and 0.1460 ppm within 6 hours of treatment with initial concentration of 2 ppm respectively. This concentration has been below the qualitystandard (PerGub Bali No.8 Tahun 2007). The highest effectiveness of vertical biofilters system against Pb and Cr occurred while processing time of 24 hours with the respective value amounted to 99.49 % and 99.41 %. While the value of biofiltration capacity in lowering the concentration of Pb and Cr amounting 4,3188x10-3 mg/g and 4,5369x10-3 mg/g. In microbiological tests, one type of bacteria that play a role in the process of bioaccumulation of Pb and Cr is Bacillus sp in the amount of 20 CFU/g.

parts of sampling areas: Sanur Kaja 5-6 meter (SA2) and 7-8 meter (SA3), Kelurahan Sanur 3-4 meter(SB1) and 5-6 meter (SB2), Sanur Kauh 3-4 meter (SC1) and 5-6 meter (SC2), using Cluster RandomSampling method. The result in April showed that from 14 parameters examined only 5 parameters have highconcentration than the acceptable drinking water standard (PPRI no.82, 2001). Those parameters areDissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Nitrate (NO3), Phosphate (PO4), and TotalColi form. While the result of the analyses in June showed that 9 from 14 parameters have highconcentration than the acceptable drinking water standard ( PPRI no 82, 2001) they are Total DissolvedSolid (TDS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Nitrate (NO3), Nitrite (NO2),Ammonia (NH3), Phosphate (PO4), E. coli and Total Coli form. The increasing concentrations indicate some pollution has occurred in these sampling areas. Theobservation has shown that most of the people in Sanur dump their waste water into the ground, which easilyabsorb through the porous soil then contaminate the ground water aquifer. Based on the water quality status using the pollution index, almost all the sampling areas have low pollution index, except the one at SanurKaja 7-8 m (SA3) has moderate pollution index.

Abstract

The process to supply the drinking water will also be expensive due to the decreasing quality of water it self. Some chemical substances are needed in high quantity to produce healthy water from Badung River, such as chlorine and aluminum sulphat (Al SO4). This is because the polutants of water in Badung River is really high. To decrease the use of the amount of chemical subtances and to avoid the side effect of chlorine on water which is highly organic, so this research was done through the use of biofilter. This biofilter is like bee-hive which is made from plastic. This micro-organism would scatter the organic substance and ammonia. In this case, iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) would be oxydized by the air and water from the blower. On the next step, the measurement of the content in each organic substance, iron, manganese, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia was done on the streaming water and the water that was out from biofilter reactor. In every parameter, the sampel was taken periodically from 1 to 6 hours hydrolic-setting time. The testing of using aluminum sulphate and the needs of chlorine was done in every 1 to 6 hours hydrolic-setting time. The result of the research told us that for 6 hours hydrolic- setting time could decrease 38.78% the organic substance, iron ( Fe) 41.93%, manganese (Mn) 55.32%, ammonia 75.40%, nitrite 55.32%, but nitrate increased up to 53.85%. The increase of nitrate is still tolerable based on the law of governor (Pergub) Bali No. 8 year 2007. The use of chemical substance, in this case aluminum sulphat could be decreased up to 10 ppm and chlorine (gas) could also be decreased until 10 ppm.

Abstract

The grain grinding business unit is needed by the farmer to process the harvest but also in particular, it creates air pollution from its dusty materials. The worker or operator has a potential risk of being contaminated by the dusty materials and lungs vital capacity reduction. This research is aimed to analyze the effects of the grain grinding polluting dust to wards the lungs vital capacity of workers at Abiansemal in Badung District. This research is sort of an analytical observation with cross sectional design. The number of chosen samples is 32 workers with a total sampling method among 16 grain grinding business units. The data resources is a primary data which obtained using questionnaire, the measurement and observation include: the worker's characteristic (working term, age, and height), dust value, breath frequency and lungs vital capacity. The data is analyzed using regression statistic. The result of the research indicates that the amount of dust at the grain grinding business unit is around 10,0079-11,6151 mg/m3, working term is one to 44 years, age 22-62, and height 155-175 cm, the condition of the grinding room is 93,75% does not meet the ventilation standard, 100% is not provided with dust control tool, 97,75% does not provide mask and 93,75% is situated in a housing are. The conclusion of the research is that dust level, working term and height in particular has a significant correlation with lungs vital capacity (p < 0,05) but age does not have a significant correlation with the workers lungs vital capacity (p> 0,05). The higher level of dust makes the higher lungs vital capacity reduction, the longer working term makes the lower lungs vital capacity and the taller of workers height .indicates the higher workers lungs vital capacity. The impact of dusty materials of grain grinding business unit towards the workers is the decreasing of workers lungs vital capacity by the disorder of lungs restriction function ( 65,62%). It is suggested to the business owner to conduct technical controls. Workers are strongly recommended to put on mask, have sufficient nutrition supplies and workers with the age over 40 years should not work in j:his area. For the health department of Badung District should implement any efforts of K3, and for other relevant departments which take a part in giving recommendation must consider a requirement to make it outside the housing area.

Abstract

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport is the second highest airport in activity level in Indonesia. Flight activity in this airport increases every year, with an increase of 20% from 2011 until the end of 2012. The research aimed to identify how much the LTO (Landing-Take-Off) emission activity in I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport. The purpose of this research was to identify how much the emission is and the effect of LTO activities towards the ambient air condition of CO and NOx around the airport. Three measurement points and three days recent flight were applied to understand the emission spreading characteristic in every LTO phases. The three phases of LTO which are consisted of take-off phase, taxi in phase and landing phase, were the main focus of this research. The three recent flights were on Monday 5 of May, on Wednesday 7 of May and on Saturday 10 of May in 2014. Regression bifilar linear statistical analysis method was employed to identify the effect and how big the CO and NOx emission contribution towards the ambient air quality. The results of this research showed that the emission of aircraft activity in LTO phases was effected by the ambient air concentration of CO and NOx. It was proved with the result from F test simultaneous with significant level average 0,033 < 0,005 and with r value that exists between 0,77 – 0,97 with mean contribution was 79,1%. Take-off phase was the phase that produced the biggest NOx gas emission compared to the other phases. When the aircraft did the take-off phase, the thrust was used reached 100%, the purpose was to produce the big energy. The combustion that happened in take-off phase in aircraft machine classified in perfect combustion, also this thing effected the phase to produce the smallest CO gas emission compared with the other phases. Taxi in phase was a phase that produced the biggest CO emission between the two other phases, it was happened because the thrust needed just 7% only so the combustion in aircraft machine classified in imperfect combustion and it was effected the CO emission was increasingly while the landing phase was the phase that produced the smallest CO and NOx gas emission compared to the other phases. Measurement results of the CO and NOx concentration in every point in three days recent flight was still under the quality standard that has been settled appropriate in Government Act number 41 year 1999..
