Abstract

Background: Premature rupture of membranes (PRM) occurs when membranes rupture spontaneously before delivery. PRM is categorized into preterm PRMor preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), occurring before and at 37 weeks of gestation, and term PRM or premature rupture of membranes (PROM), occurring after 37 weeks. Objective: This study aimed to determine differences in leukocyte profiles between term and preterm PRM cases at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. Methods: This research used an observational analytic design. This research involved two groups of pregnant women with term and preterm PRM. A total of 55 participants were included, with 28 in the preterm PRM group and 27 in the term PRM group. Data were collected from medical records between January 2023 and July 2024 using a purposive sampling technique. Normality tests were conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk Test. For normally distributed data (p > 0.05), the Independent T-Test was applied, while the Mann-Whitney Test was used for non-normally distributed data (p < 0.05). Results: The results showed no significant differences in lymphocyte (p-value=0,725) and neutrophil (p-value=0,893) levels. Similarly, no significant differences were found in leukocyte, monocyte, eosinophil, and basophil levels (p-values=0,987, 0,666, 0,949, and 0,979, respectively). Conclusion: The study showed no significant differences in the leukocyte profiles between term and preterm PRM. However, increased neutrophil counts in preterm cases may suggest an ongoing infection, highlighting the importance of monitoring leukocyte levels in PRM for potential infection risk management. Further studies are needed to assess how factors such as occupation and daily fatigue affect the incidence of PRM, especially in the preterm group.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains prevalent in Indonesia’s coastal regions, where social norms and resource limitations hinder the implementation of preventive practices. In Tapa’an Village, Pasuruan, these challenges are compounded by the influence of extended family, unstable income, and restricted access to clean water. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a community-led health education program combined with digital reinforcement on mothers’ stunting-prevention behaviors, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework.Method: A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted with 57 mothers of children under five. Data on attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and behavioral intention were collected using validated questionnaires. Statistical analyses included paired t-tests and ANOVA to assess mean differences, and Pearson correlation to explore inter-domain relationships, chosen to capture both magnitude and interaction of behavioral change.Result : Significant improvements were found across all TPB constructs (p < 0.001) with large effect sizes (η² > 0.80). The most substantial change occurred in behavioral intention, driven by enhanced attitudes and social approval. Mothers described greater motivation, confidence, and collective encouragement after receiving digital reminders. The integration of participatory learning and digital cues effectively transformed individual awareness into a shared community practice. Digital reinforcement uniquely sustained motivation beyond group sessions, especially among digitally active mothers in extended families. Despite the design’s lack of a control group and short observation period, findings highlight the model’s potential for adaptation in coastal maternal health programs. Embedding digital reinforcement into Puskesmas activities could strengthen long-term stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on patterns of social interaction, education, and behavior on child development. Children with social development problems need good readiness from their parents in order to carry out their optimal growth functions. Parental readiness is one of the mitigation strategies to reduce the negative impact of COVID-19. The purpose of this research is to explore how parents are prepared for their children's social development after the COVID-19 emergency, in the Jember Regency. This research method uses qualitative research with a phenomenological design involving 7 parents in the Jember Regency area. The research instrument used a design theory from Prochaska, namely the transtheoretical model for parental preparation and Hurlock's theory, namely the ability to behave in accordance with social demands for children's social development. Data analysis used the induction method with specific conclusions drawn for the general public and presented descriptively. Parents have prepared and facilitated children's needs, learning environment, and provided motivation to children in their development period. Some parents admit that they have difficulty adjusting to their child's development. This is different from parents as housewives who have a lot of time with their children who claim that they understand their child's condition and can adapt to their child's development. Parents also provide time for their children to talk about their activities in their environment and limit their use of gadgets and replace them with other games that can stimulate their motor and sensory. The readiness of parents in the social development of children in the post-COVID-19 emergency shows positive results. Parents are well prepared to support their children's social development. Abstract

Stunting has long-term impacts on physical growth, cognitive development, and increased risk of disease in children. In Lumajang Regency, the stunting prevalence in 2024 reached 23.4%, highlighting the need for community-based prevention efforts. This community service aimed to enhance cadres’ capacity in stunting prevention through the utilization of moringa as a local food resource in the agronursing area of Kutorenon Village. The location was selected based on the availability of moringa and the readiness of local health cadres. The program applied an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach with a pre-experimental design (pre-test and post-test) involving 50 cadres. Activities included education, discussion, demonstration, and mentoring in preparing moringa-based healthy foods such as moringa ice cream and nuggets. The results showed a substantial increase in cadres’ knowledge, with mean scores rising from 60 to 88, along with improved practical skills in nutritious food preparation. The program also improved complementary feeding practices at community health posts, contributing to better child nutritional intake as a protective factor against stunting. Evaluation across nine posyandu indicated that six (66.7%) developed sustainable moringa-based menu innovations. This program positively impacted community nutritional behavior and has the potential to reduce stunting risk through improved child nutrition based on local resources.
