Abstract

The purpose of this study is the manufacture of natural bentoniteinto nano particles and is used as a filer on thermoplastic high-densitypolyethylene ( HDPE ) . The method used in the manufacture of nano-particles of bentonite are two ways ; The first synthesis method usingsurfactant cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide ( CTAB ) and the secondway in ballmill for 10 hours . Characterization of the particle sizeanalyzer ( PSA ) , morphological analysis with scanning electronmicroscope ( SEM ) and analysis of the structure by X - ray diffraction (XRD ) was performed . Nano particles with variation of composition ofnatural bentonite ( 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 , 10 % w t) blends with HDPE andcompatibilizer PE - g- MA on the appliance 's internal mixer at atemperature of 150 C and laboplatomil rate of 60 rpm for 10 minute.Berdasarkan PSA analysis and X - ray , natural bentonite having an average size of 75 nm for synthesis with CTAB , and 97.5 nm for the ball mill . from the results of XRD analysis of minerals crystoballite (SiO2 ) and phase annite ( Al3.448Fe3K0.99Na 0.01O12Si 2.552 ) . In testing the mechanical properties of the resulting increase in tensile strength and breaking up the composition perpajangan 2 to 6 % and a decline in the composition of 8 % . The results of SEM analysis showed that homogeneous mixing of ingredients and the bentonite particle agglomeration on the composition of 10 % wt.

Abstract

On the minimizing of waste tires which can damage the environment can be done by processing waste tires into powder waste tires and used as a fi ller in the manufacture of thermoplastic elastomer composite which can be used as bumpers on automotive. The Research has been done by mixing the powder waste tires, SIR-20 compound and polypropylene,with Polipropilena Maleic anhydride compatibilizer. Preparation of raw materials is done by making rubber compound with two roll mill mixing equipment. Composite made by blending process at temperature of 180C with a speed of 60 rpm in an internal mixer, with composition (30, 40, 50)% weight and size of 1mm and 60 mesh, composite results in a granular form in the molding hot press, cold, then made in to specimens for each test sample in accordance with JIS K 6781 standard size for tensile test. The Results obtained from mechanical test properties waste tires size 60 mesh powder better than the size of 1mm. The best mechanical properties obtained on the composition of 50% with a maximum of 13 MPa tensile strength and elongation at break 148%. The result of SEM analysis of morphology 60 mesh size is more than homogeneous than 1mm.

Abstract

SINTESIS NANO ZEOLIT ALAM MENGGUNAKAN METODE BALL MILLING. Telah disintesis nanozeolit alam Pahae dengan metode ball milling. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan nilai jual sumber daya alam Sumatera Utara khususnya zeolit. Zeolit digerus sampai halus, lalu diayak dengan ukuran 200 mesh. Zeolit kemudian diaktivasi secara kimia dengan menggunakan HCl untuk membersihkan zeolit dari pengotor, dan secara fisis dengan kalsinasi pada suhu 600 oCselama 2 jam untuk mengurangi kadar air. Selanjutnya, serbuk zeolit yang sudah diaktivasi tersebut dimasukkan ke dalamball miling dan diaduk selama 10 jam untuk mendapatkan serbuk nanozeolit. Hasil X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) menunjukkan dua fasa dominan yaitu calsium aluminium silicate hydrate (CaAl2Si10O24.7 H2O) dan aluminium oxide (Al2O3). Dengan persamaan Scherer diperoleh ukuran kristal rata-rata zeolit adalah 74 nm. Hasil X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)menunjukkan kandungan zeolit alam Pahae terdiri dari senyawa Na2O (1,03%), MgO (0,82%), Al2O3 (17,29%), SiO2 (71,06), K2O (4,63%), CaO (1,92%), TiO2 (0,51%) dan Fe2O3 (2,75%).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the jigsaw type cooperative learning model using concept maps on students' learning outcomes in sub-themes of housing objects rather than direct learning models. This type of research is quasi-experimental. The results showed that the jigsaw cooperative learning model using concept maps gave a higher influence on student science learning outcomes compared to the direct learning model with tcount = 4.351 and p = 0,000. The results of the analysis obtained science learning outcomes of students taught with a high-category jigsaw model with a mean gain score of 0.73 with a standard deviation of 0.099 and declared normal distribution (p = 0.581). Student science learning outcomes taught with direct learning models are classified into the medium category with an average gain score of 0.61 with a standard deviation of 0.122 and stated as normal distribution (p = 0.581). The two sample groups were stated to be from a homogeneous population with a value of p = 0.714, the cognitive domain of the experimental class students who developed after being taught the jigsaw type cooperative learning model using concept maps was C1 at 77.5% (high); C2 of 72.4% (high); C3 of 71.3% (high); C4 is 72.1% (high). Abstract

This study aims to determine: students' critical thinking skills and student cognitive outcome learning with discovery learning model and conventional learning. Quasi experimental research was conducted using pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this research is the experimental class treated with the discovery learning model and the control class apply the conventional learning chosen by simple random sampling. The instrument used is an essay test based on the indicator of critical thinking ability and outcome learning test based on bloom revision. Data in this research is analyzed by using t test. The results show that: The students' critical thinking ability which is taught by discovery learning is better than students who are taught by conventional learning and students cognitive outcome learning which is taught by discovery learning better than students who are taught by conventional learning

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of students' creative thinking skills using the project based learning model. (2) determine the effect of students' creative thinking skills using conventional models. This research is a quasi-experimental type of research. The design in this study used two group pretest-posttest designs. The population of this research is all students of class XI semester 1 of SMA Negeri 9 Medan T.A. 2019/2020 there were 6 classes (192). The sample of this study consisted of two classes, namely class X IPA 1 (experimental class) and class X IPA 3 (control class) taken by cluster random sampling. The number of samples was 72 students. The research instrument was in the form of a project-based creative thinking skills test in the form of an essay test in accordance with aspects of creative thinking skills according to Karen S. Meador. The validity of the test is carried out with content validity, using 2 expert lecturers. Analysis of the data used is the t-test. The results of this study are the influence of project based learning model learning on students 'creative thinking skills and improvement of students' creative thinking skills in its aspect in the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills, analyzing whether the improvement of critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills that are taught by the problem-based learning model using mind map better than students who are taught by conventional learning. This research is a quasi-experimental research with two group pretest-posttest design. The research population is all students of class X SMA Negeri 2 Bandar (senior high school) in first semester, academic year 2017/2018. The study sample was taken randomly consisting of 64 students. Class X MIPA-1 is an experimental class, consisting of 32 students with learning problem model learning using mind map. Class X MIPA-3 is a control class consisting of 32 students using conventional learning. The research instrument uses essay test of critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills that have been declared valid. Data analysis using statistical t-test. The results showed that the average value of critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills using conventional learning was 61.09 and 61.88 were in a low category while the students applying the problem-based learning model using mind map were 75.78 and 77.56 are in the moderate category. The result of hypothesis testing using independent sample t-test shows that each significance value (sig) <0.05 is 0.00 then H0 is rejected, it means that the skills of critical thinking and problem-solving skills of students who are treated with problem-based learning model using mind map is better than conventional learning, so it can be concluded that there is the effect of problem based learning model using mind map to improve critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills

Abstract

Project based learning model (PjBL) is a model that is designed to train students to make plans and produce products that can solve problems in the surrounding environment. The PjBL model has five phases, there are (1) finding ideas, (2) designing the project, (3) compiling the project, (4) implementing the project, and (5) evaluating the project. The purpose of this study is to determine students ‘critical thinking skills and improve student’s critical thinking skills in learning physics through the PjBL model. The design in this study used one group pre-test post-test design on 60 students in Senior High School State of 12 Medan (SMA Negeri 12 Medan) at academic year 2019/2020. The instrument of students’ critical thinking skills uses 7 essay tests using indicators by Ennis, namely: (1) elementary clarification, (2) basic support, (3) inferring, (4) advanced clarification, and (5) strategy and tactic. Analysis of the data used is N-gain. The results of this study are students’ critical thinking skills in the medium category. And the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills is also in the medium category

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences: (1) the conceptual understanding of students taught with inquiry-based learning method and conventional learning, (2) the scientific process skills of students taught with inquiry-based learning method and conventional one. This research employed a quasi experimental method. The population of study was XI grade student of SMA Al Fityan Medan. The sample was chosen randomly. The instrument used in this research were multiple choice questions and observation sheet. multiple choice questions were used to analyzed student’s conceptual understanding, while observation sheet were used to investigate student’s scientific process skills. The data of this research were analyzed using independent sample  t-test. the results of this study showed a significant difference, that can be conclude as bellow: (1) the conceptual understanding of students taught with inquiry-based learning method are better than the students taught with conventional learning, (2) the scientific process skills of students taught with inquiry-based learning method are better than the students taught with conventional learning

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pembuatan nano partikel dari abu sekam padi (ASP) yang berfungsi sebagai sebagai bahan pengisi termopastik high density poliethylen (HDPE). ASP yang akan dipreparasi diperoleh dari Kilang Padi hasil pembakaran yang berwarna putih . Dalam penelitian ini metode yang dilakukan dalam pembuatan nano partikel dengan cara ASP di Ball mill selama 1 jam kemudian di sintesis dengan larutan HCl 2 M , NaOH 2.5 M dengan metoda kopresipitasi dan di sintesis dengan polietilen Glikol ( PEG) 6000 dengan perbandingan 1:3 .Hasil ASP ini di karakterisasi yakni dengan alat X-Ray Floresensi (XRF), analisa morfologi dengan Scaning Electron Microscofe (SEM) , analisa struktur X-Ray Difraction (XRD), Untuk membuat nano komposit maka dilakukan tahap sebagai berikut : termoplastik HDPE dimasukkan dalam internal mixer laboplastomill dengan suhu 150 0C dengan laju 60 rpm selama 10 menit , nano ASP dengan hasil sistesis pada komposisi (0,2,4,6,8,dan 10 ) % berat . Dari hasil nano komposit dianalisis sifat mekanik ( kekuatan tarik , perpanjangan putus dan modulus elastik ) . Hasil yang diperoleh dengan XRD ukuran partikel 52,22 nm dan struktur kristal tetragonal dan fase kristobalit (SiO2) ,hasil XRF dengan kandungan Si 99,4 % ,hasil analisis sifat mekanis meningkat dengan bertambahnya komposisi nano ASP dan optimal pada komposisi 8% berat . Kata-kata kunci: ASP, HDPE , sifat Mekanis Abstract The purpose of this research is the manufacture nanoparticles of rice husk ash (RHA) that serves as a filler material termopastik poliethylen high density (HDPE). RHA to be prepared rice obtained from refinery combustion products are white. In this research method is performed in the manufacture of nano-particles by means of RHA in Ball mill for 1 hour then synthesized with a solution of HCl 2 M NaOH 2.5 M by the method of coprecipitation and in the synthesis of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 at a ratio of 1: 3. the results of this RHA in the characterization namely by means of X-Ray Fluorescent (XRF), morphology analysis by scanning Electron Microscofe (SEM), analysis of the structure of X-Ray Difraction (XRD), to create nano composite then do the following phases: thermoplastic HDPE included in laboplastomill internal mixer with a temperature of 150 0C at a rate of 60 rpm for 10 minutes, nano RHA with the results of the synthesis of the composition (0,2,4,6,8, and 10)% by weight. From the results of nano composites were analyzed mechanical properties (tensile strength, elongation at break and elastic modulus). The results obtained by XRD 52.22 nm particle size and crystal structure tetragonal (SiO2)fase cristobalit, XRF results with 99.4% Si content, the results of the analysis of the mechanical properties of nano compositions increases with RHA and optimal composition 8% by weight.
