Abstract

Keamanan pangan merupakan salah satu dari sepuluh ancaman kesehatan terbesar di dunia. Produk pangan yang diproses tanpa standar keamanan berisiko menimbulkan bahaya kesehatan, seperti keracunan pangan dan penyakit bawaan makanan. Industri ikan sale di Kecamatan Panyabungan Kota belum memenuhi standar keamanan pangan terutama dalam aspek kebersihan lingkungan dan sanitasi produksi. Salah satu upaya dalam menjamin keamanan pangan adalah dengan melakukan penerapan Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), khususnya pada Industri Rumah Tangga Pangan (IRTP). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memperoleh gambaran rinci tentang penerapan GMP pada IRTP ikan sale di Kecamatan Panyabungan Kota Tahun 2025. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang dilaksanakan pada bulan April-Juli 2025. Sampel terdiri dari lima IRTP yang memproduksi ikan sale berbahan dasar ikan mas. Data primer dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara menggunakan instrumen Peraturan Kepala BPOM No. HK.03.1.23.04.12.2207 Tahun 2012 yang mencakup 37 parameter GMP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar IRTP menjalankan usahanya sendiri tanpa tenaga kerja yaitu sebanyak 4 usaha (80%) dan hanya satu IRTP (20%) yang memiliki tenaga kerja. Sebagian besar usaha berdiri selama 1-10 tahun (60%), dan produksi ikan sale terbanyak berada di kisaran 5-10 kg per hari (60%). Pendapatan terbanyak berkisar antara Rp100.000-400.000 per hari (60%). Penerapan GMP di seluruh IRTP masih tergolong rendah. Terdapat 5 temuan minor, 12 mayor, 52 serius, dan 32 kritis. Seluruh IRTP berada pada Level IV, yang menunjukkan bahwa pemenuhan aspek dasar keamanan pangan masih sangat rendah. Ketidaksesuaian serius dan kritis dominan pada aspek kebersihan, sanitasi, pencatatan, dan pelabelan produk, sehingga meningkatkan potensi bahaya kesehatan bagi konsumen. Penerapan GMP pada IRTP ikan sale di Kecamatan Panyabungan Kota belum memenuhi standar minimal yang ditetapkan. Diperlukan pembinaan intensif, peningkatan pemahaman pelaku usaha terhadap prinsip GMP, serta dukungan dari Instansi terkait agar kualitas dan keamanan produk pangan dapat terjamin dan layak konsumsi.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a major global health challenge, especially in areas endemic to Aedes aegypti mosquito. This study analyzes the environmental factors influencing larval presence and investigates the effectiveness of natural larvicides from castor seed (Ricinus communis) in controlling Ae. aegypti mosquito larvae. Using a cross-sectional survey of households by purposive sampling between those located near and far from public places and a quasi-experimental study compared households in the intervention group (using castor seed powder larvicide) with those in the comparison group (not using castor seed powder larvicide) were conducted in Medan Amplas District, Medan City. The study found that location significantly impacts mosquito larvae (p = 0.045, OR 3.26, 95% CI), with households near public places at higher risk. Applying castor seed-based natural larvicide at 100 mg/L of water (p = 0.0001, OR 37.76, 95% CI 17.9-79.2) significantly reduced larvae, with a 37.76-fold higher likelihood of larval absence than the comparison group. Notably, the use of castor seed powder demonstrated exceptional effectiveness in reducing the presence of Ae. aegypti mosquito larvae. These findings highlight the potential of castor seed natural larvicides as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical larvicides, particularly for households near public places.

Abstract

Mothers have a role as caregivers for their children, this role will affect the growth and development of children. The role of mothers in providing nutritious food to children is influenced by many factors, one of which is the mother's knowledge and ability to manage simple foods that have high nutritional value. This community service activity was carried out in the Hamlet VII Mekar Sari, Deli Tua Village, Biru-biru District in 2021. The service participants were housewives who had 49 school-age children. Activities carried out include counseling on nutrition for school-age children, training in making simple foods with high nutritional value, interactive games and competitions to serve simple foods with high nutritional value. The results of the service activities obtained data on maternal knowledge before being given counseling and education in the good category of 36.7% (19 people) after being given action by 100% (49 people) knowing the nutrition of school-age children. The ability of the mother before being given the action was in good category 37.2% (18 people) and after being given the action 98% (48 people). A mother's ability to provide simple food with high nutritional value is influenced by a mother's level of knowledge. A good level of knowledge and supported by the participation of health workers in helping families, especially mothers, can reduce the occurrence of malnutrition in school-age children.

Abstract

Sanitation conditions in the school environment in Urban Village Sitirejo II were not well managed. The school had adequate facilities, but these facilities were not optimally utilized as seen from the unavailability of clean water, unclean toilets, and scattered garbage. These conditions can lead to diseases such as diarrhea and others. The formation of cadres from students needs to be done to overcome these problems. The cadre was named Bocah Cinta Lingkungan or "Bocil" or the Environmentalist Child Cadres, 10 people were selected and formed through "Bersabar" method. The play method used is with the modification of the Snakes and Ladders game, the game is communicative and easy to understand, with eye-catching visualization, attractive, and fun to use as learning media. In addition, snakes and ladders are modified with interesting and full-color illustrated questions and answers. After the cadres are formed, their role is to instill clean and healthy living behaviors for themselves and their peers. Promotive efforts in school children groups can be done with peer education. Furthermore, this program also involves principals and teachers by providing a "Bersabar" method tools to Al Ikhlas Private elemntary School. Teachers have a role to monitor the cadres and then also be able to form the cadres independently.

Abstract

Toy products are still consumer goods that are in great demand by the public. When toy paint peels off the particles into dust and will stick to the mouth, food and drink. The study was descriptive of the research sample population of 15 teachers with total sampling techniques. Samples of educational toys as many as 7 toys were tested in the laboratory. The results obtained by teachers in kindergarten are generally aged ≤ 40 is 8 teachers (53.3%), the last education of teachers is D3 / S1 is 14 teachers (93.3%), all teachers who teach in kindergarten are women (100%), the old teaching experience is around 1-10 years is 6 teachers (40.0%). The variable teacher knowledge is classified as medium is 7 teachers (46.7%), good is 4 teachers (26.7%) and bad is 4 teachers (26.7%). The variable of teacher attitude is classified good is 14 teachers (93.3%) and medium is 1 teacher (6.7%). Educational toys tested in the laboratory using AAS (atomic absorption spectrophotometry) tools showed that 100% of toys contained lead (Pb) with a range of 0.22-107.4 ppm. Advice to teachers not to buy toys of too flashy colors and parents can also supervise the way children play.

Abstract

Household waste is Indonesia's largest waste source, while food waste is the most significant composition. Waste remains unresolved in Suka Makmur Village due to poor management practices such as burning waste, littering, and a lack of public awareness, which can negatively impact community health and the environment. Compost fertilizer production using composting bags is one of the strategies that can be implemented to manage organic waste. This service aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the PKK (Family Empowerment and Welfare) regarding composting using composting bags made from the kitchen and organic waste to create a clean kitchen. The methods used in this service include presenting material related to clean kitchen training, practical composting exercises, assessing participants' knowledge through pre-tests and post-tests, question-and-answer discussions, and monitoring and evaluating the processing of organic and inorganic waste. The post-test results on the knowledge and skills from applying composting bags showed an increase of 115.38%. Based on the monitoring and evaluation results, it was found that the participants displayed high enthusiasm for managing kitchen waste and were able to manage organic waste.

Abstract

Akhir tahun 2019 dunia dikejutkan dengan adanya penyakit infeksi yang telah berkembang pesat oleh Virus Corona (Covid-19). Banyak sektor yang terimbas salah satunya sektor pangan. Pasar tradisional menjadikan tempat umum yang kerap dikunjungi untuk membeli bahan makanan tersebut. Namun, kondisi sanitasi pasar kadang luput dari perhatian pengelola pasar sehingga penularan Covid-19 bisa saja terjadi. Maka perlu dilakukan upaya memaksimalkan pengadaan fasilitas sanitasi seperti tempat cuci tangan (wastafel). Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah mewujudkan Gerakan Belanja Sehat Basuh Tangan “MAHIDALIS (Mari Higienis dengan Pedal Praktis) di Pasar Tradisional Kecamatan Medan Johor Kota Medan dengan membuat Wastafel Pedal Praktis. Kegiatan ini bekerja sama dengan Karang Taruna Kecamatan Medan Johor dimana menjadi ujung tombak penggerak masyarakat agar kegiatan ini menjadi contoh bagi daerah lain di Kota Medan. Pada umumnya, westafel yang sering dijumpai memiliki keran yang beroperasi menggunakan tangan. Akan tetapi, agar menghindari kontak fisik dengan benda mati yang dapat menjadi media penularan virus, maka Wastafel Pedal Praktis yang beroperasi menggunakan pedal praktis dapat mengurangi kontak fisik tersebut. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah berupa peningkatan penerapan teknologi di pasar tradisional dengan menggunakan wastafel pedal praktis sehingga dapat mengurangi kontak fisik melalui benda fisik pada saat menbasuh tangan.

Abstract

Kecamatan Deli Tua merupakan salah satu daerah di Kabupaten Deli Serdang yang memiliki masalah serius mengenai pengelolaan sampah. Peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai pengelolaan sampah menggunakan metode yang sesuai perlu dilakukan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah menumbuhkan kesadaran dan meningkatkan pengetahuan dalam upaya pembentukan Bocah Arif Perubahan Iklim (Apik). Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan di Lembaga Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini Anggrek, Desa Kedai Durian, Kecamatan Deli Tua, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Provinsi Sumatera Utara dengan sasaran anak kelas 4-6 SD. Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi 3 tahap diantaranya adalah jalan sehat sambil mengutip sampah, bermain Atteropoly serta kegiatan pojok literasi mengenai upaya pencegahan dan penanggulangan dampak perubahan iklim. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian, rata-rata skor pre-test adalah 53,48 dan  rata- rata skor post-test responden adalah 66,09. Perbedaan rata-rata skor responden sebelum dan sesudah pemberian edukasi dan literasi adalah 12,61 artinya rata-rata skor mengalami peningkatan sebesar 23,57%. Hasil ini menginterpretasikan bahwa pembentukan Bocah Apik dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai pengelolaan sampah sebagai upaya penanggulangan perubahan iklim pada anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di Desa Kedai Durian. Pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sarana efektif dalam mendidik masyarakat, terutama anak-anak sekolah dasar menjadi Bocah Apik sebagai upaya mitigasi dan adaptasi terhadap perubahan iklim.

Abstract

Background : Menstrual hygiene of women in coastal areas which do not fulfill the health standard can increase the risk of reproductive tract infections, such as vaginal discharge, candidiasis, fungal infections, and cervical cancer. Limited access to sanitation facilities, lack of information, and poor hygiene habits negatively affect menstrual hygiene practices Objective : to analyze predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling factors related to menstrual hygiene among female students in coastal areas Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : This research was an observational study with a crosssectional design conducted in Medan City and Batubara Regency. The sample consisted of 300 female junior high school students who had experienced menstruation. Variables included age at menarche, sources of information, and knowledge of menstrual hygiene (Predisposing), family support and menstrual restrictions (Reinforcing), availability of clean water, soap, and dustbins (Enabling). Data were analyzed using cross-tabulation and the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence interval. Results : The results showed that 56% had their first menstruation (menarche) after the age of 12, 94.3% received information from their families, and 52% had good knowledge, all significantly related to menstrual hygiene practices (p = 0.005). Family support was also significantly associated (p = 0.014). Despite the availability of clean water (93.7%), soap (81.7%), and dustbins (81.7%), poor menstrual hygiene was still found in 86.7% of the students Conclusion/Lesson Learned : Knowledge, as a predisposing factor, and family support, as a reinforcing factor, need to be improved to improve the sanitation and menstrual hygiene practice
