Abstract

This research aims to empirically examine the influence of character education on student discipline and leadership at the higher education level. The study identifies the causal relationship between the implementation of character education values instilled through academic and extracurricular activities and students' behavior in terms of discipline, as well as their ability to demonstrate effective leadership. The results suggest that character education, encompassing values such as responsibility, honesty, and cooperation, significantly impacts students' adherence to rules, punctuality, and leadership skills. By focusing on the development of both personal and social values, character education plays a crucial role in shaping students not only as academically capable individuals but also as morally responsible and effective leaders. Despite the widespread implementation of character education programs in higher education, the study highlights the need for more consistent and integrated application to ensure its effective impact on students' overall behavior. Abstract

Abstract: Students' learning motivation in the subject of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) at SMPIT Darul Fikri is still relatively low, which has an impact on understanding the concepts and application of Pancasila values in everyday life. One of the factors causing this is the conventional learning methods that are less interactive, such as lectures (expository), which make students passive and less interested in the learning process. To overcome this problem, this research applies the neuroscience-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to improve student motivation and learning outcomes. This approach is based on the principle that learning that considers how the brain works can increase student engagement and help them understand the material more effectively. This study used a quantitative method with an experimental design, comparing a class taught using neuroscience-based PBL with a class taught using the expository method. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and learning motivation questionnaires, then analyzed using statistical tests. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the motivation and learning outcomes of students taught with the neuroscience-based PBL model compared to the expository method. The average N-Gain value of learning outcomes in the experimental class was higher than the control class, indicating that this approach is effective in improving students' understanding of Civics material. The conclusion of this study is that the application of neuroscience-based PBL can improve student motivation and learning outcomes in Civics subjects. This approach provides a more active learning experience, stimulates student engagement, and increases the internalization of national values. Therefore, it is recommended for educators to adopt more innovative and neuroscience-based learning methods to improve learning effectiveness. Keyword: Learning Motivation, Problem Based Learning (PBL), Neuroscience, Pancasila and Civics Education (PPKn), Learning Outcomes Abstrak: Motivasi belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) di SMPIT Darul Fikri masih tergolong rendah, yang berdampak pada pemahaman konsep dan penerapan nilai-nilai Pancasila dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Abstract

This qualitative study examines the role of community service programs in enhancing teaching competencies for educators in remote regions. Drawing on case studies from Indonesia, Tanzania, and the United States, the research highlights how collaborative, community-driven initiatives address systemic challenges such as resource shortages, professional isolation, and inequitable access to training. Findings emphasize the importance of localized pedagogical strategies, sustained mentorship, and multi-stakeholder partnerships in fostering teacher resilience and improving educational outcomes. Through in-depth interviews with teachers and program facilitators, as well as participant observations, this study reveals that effective community service programs not only enhance teaching skills but also promote a sense of belonging and commitment among educators. The data indicates that when teachers are actively involved in their communities, they are more likely to adopt innovative teaching practices that resonate with local cultures and needs. The implications of this research suggest that policymakers should prioritize funding and support for community service initiatives as a viable strategy for professional development in remote areas. By leveraging local knowledge and resources, these programs can create sustainable improvements in education quality, ultimately leading to better student performance and community engagement.
