Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of digital storytelling in enhancing the speaking skills of secondary EFL learners. The research responds to persistent challenges in speaking instruction, particularly students’ limited fluency, low confidence, and insufficient exposure to meaningful communicative tasks. Using a mixed methods design, the study involved an eight week intervention in which students created scripted digital stories through narration, multimedia editing, and collaborative production. Quantitative data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments measuring fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and coherence, while qualitative data were obtained through observations, interviews, and student reflections. The findings reveal substantial improvements in speaking performance, especially in fluency and coherence, accompanied by increased engagement, reduced speaking anxiety, and heightened self awareness during the storytelling process. These results highlight that digital storytelling provides repeated oral practice and authentic communicative opportunities that support learners’ linguistic and affective development. The study offers implications for English teachers and curriculum designers by demonstrating that technology supported narrative tasks can be integrated into regular instruction to foster more interactive, creative, and student centered speaking learning environments.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of environmental performance on financial performance, with a focus on the moderating role of online search attention, using a sample of Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2021–2024 period. Data were collected from sustainability reports, financial statements, and Google Trends. A pilot study approach in moderated regression analysis was used to accommodate manifest variables and evaluate interaction effects between variables. The results indicated that environmental performance positively contributed to improved financial performance. Furthermore, online search attention strengthened the relationship between environmental performance and financial performance. The effect of environmental performance on financial performance after moderating variables was highly significant. This indicates that public interest strengthens the financial benefits of environmental practices. These findings highlight the strategic importance of both environmental responsibility and digital visibility in enhancing firm value. This study contributes to the ESG literature by integrating the role of online public attention and offers managerial implications for improving environmental communication and stakeholder engagement in achieving sustainable financial outcomes.

Abstract

This research analyzes the effect of financial literacy, hedonic lifestyle, and fear of missing out (FOMO) on the financial management behavior of Generation Z in Malang City by involving locus of control as an intervening variable. The study applied a quantitative explanatory design using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique with 385 respondents aged 18–27 years. The findings reveal that financial literacy does not significantly influence financial management behavior or locus of control. In contrast, hedonic lifestyle and FOMO demonstrate a significant relationship with locus of control, although FOMO does not directly affect financial management behavior. The results further indicate that locus of control positively contributes to financial management behavior and acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between hedonic lifestyle, FOMO, and financial management behavior. This study concludes that financial management behavior among Generation Z in the digital era is shaped not only by financial understanding, but also by psychological and social influences.

Abstract

This research aims to test Upper Echelons Theory by researching the relationship between CEO overconfidence and decisions in Earnings management. This research also identifies whether monitoring from external parties, especially institutional shareholdings, plays an important role in moderating Earnings management decisions concerning the behavior of overconfident CEOs. The author uses the CEO's characteristics based on age, education level, and work experience, while overconfidence is measured based on the CEO's portfolio decisions. The sample comprises 68 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017-2019. The results showed that age and work experience did not affect CEO overconfidence, while education level had an effect. Furthermore, the CEO's characteristics (age, education level, and work experience), through overconfidence, do not affect Earnings management. Other results also show that overconfidence does not affect Earnings management. The moderating effect of institutional share ownership has no effect on CEO overconfidence in Earnings management. The results of this research can benefit users of financial information, namely internal parties (management), as a material consideration in selecting a CEO. As for external parties (government, investors/potential investors, and creditors/prospective creditors) can be used as a performance appraisal and a basis for decision-making.
