Abstract

Father's dominance in the family and parenting spheres often leads to conflicts as violence, oppression, and even trauma due to an imbalance roles between fathers and mothers. The issue of fatherhood also appears in the film NKCTHI as a representation of the social reality brought by the filmmakers. With the reception study, the researcher focuses on the interaction between the Z generation audience and the texts that appear in the media so that a picture emerges of how the media is able to influence or not influence the audience in defining the social reality related to fatherhood that appears in the film. Based on these problems, this study aims to determine the position of the audience's reception of the representation of fatherhood in the film Later Kita Stories About Today based on the three positions of Hall's meaning, namely : dominant reading, negotiation reading, and oppositional reading. This study uses a critical paradigm with Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding theory, muted groups, and libertarian radical feminism. There are 6 scenes chosen to see the meaning, such as: (1) Father's attitude in making decisions, (2) Father's communication with his partner, (3) Father's protection efforts, (4) Father's protective attitude, (5) Domestic activities carried out Father, (6) The attitude of the father in explaining to his child. The results showed that the audience's meaning was influenced by various factors such as family conditions, gender identity, consumption of other media, knowledge related to gender, the context of the scene in the film, and personal opinions regarding the social conditions. Although the meanings appear in various receptions, the results of the study show that the majority of informants are still in a dominant position. All male informants and 1 female informant are mostly in dominant positions, while the other two female informants are mostly in negotiating and opposition positions. The reception of informants is still influenced by patriarchal ideology and masculine ways of thinking in interpreting fatherhood in the film. Although there are also feminine thoughts and awareness of gender roles in some scenes, their receptions do not completely leave the patriarchal mindset.

Abstract

Active audience makes the text in a film become rich in meaning. That is because the audience actively produces meaning based on their background, experience, and daily life. Lipstick Under My Burkha is a film that seeks to offer alternatives to interpret female sexuality through the scenes in it. However, the meaning of active audiences is not necessarily in line with the idea of alternative meanings offered by the film. So this study aims to see the diversity of audiences against resistance by the four main female characters in the film. Using the type of qualitative research that refers to the critical paradigm with Stuart Hall's reception analysis method and Roland Barthes's semiotic data analysis. Theories used are Feminist Media and Film Theory, Hidden Transcript Theory and Reception Theory. This research has chosen nine preferred readings that display forms of women's resistance to the elements of sexuality contained in the film, namely elements of body image, intimacy, attraction and desire, fantacy, shared sexual behavior, and elements of partner or domestic violence. Resistance was raised by displaying female characters who liberated their sexuality to emerge from the myths of sexuality that had been exist. The results showed that almost all informants tended to be in a dominant position, but still negotiated the form of resistance in accordance with the values that the informant had previously believed. Informants tend to be in the dominant position of reading when confronted with the preferred reading of women's resistance through the elements of sexuality, body image, fantasy, shared sexual behavior, and partner or domestic violence. Where there are informants who have a similar situation with the main female character in the film and take the same resistance as the main characters in the film. Here, religious values are the most frequent reasons when informants will negotiate or reject the forms of resistance displayed by the Lipstick Under My Burkha film. Informants who are in negotiation or opposition positions tend to be active in diversity activities in their social environment, such as studies conducted at campus mosques. They also become followers of Islamic da'wah media accounts through their social media accounts. So, we can see that this alternative ideology for understanding women's sexuality is starting to have room to be accepted by Indonesian society.

Abstract

Forum Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Nelayan Tambak Lorok as a fisherman organization formed by Dinas Kelautan Kota Semarang with the aim of improving the welfare of self-reliance. In fact, fishermen have another goal in organization which causes low productivity inside. The existence of an organizational communication climate affects organizational productivities. For this reason, this study aims to describe the organizational communication climate which formed in the Forum based on the dimensions of openness communication, supportiveness, participation in decision making and high work motivation of members. This study uses a qualitative research method with an ethnographic approach to communication that is supported by the concept of Organizational Communication Climate. The research subjects are the committee and members of the Forum Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Nelayan Tambak Lorok. Based on the data which obtained through observation and interview, the result shows that the communication behaviours of members in Forum indicate a closed communication which can be seen from verbal and non-verbal communication that appears such as distance, non-dramatizing attitudes, and unfriendly attitudes. The unsupportive attitude is also seen among members which is indicated by low concern for fellow members, indifferent attitude, and a low sense of belonging. Unsupportive behavior is motivated by the "I" or "selfness" mindset which prioritizes personal interests rather than togetherness. This mindset leads to the high work motivation of Forum members to only get material assistance. Member’s participations are relatively low in decision-making forums due to the dominance of the committee. Based on the communication behavior in the Forum viewed by the dimensions of the organizational communication climate, it can be concluded that the organizational communication climate formed in the Forum Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Nelayan Tambak Lorok is an unfavourable climate.

Abstract

This research with the title Marketing Communication Strategy of Honda Big Bike Astra Motor Semarang in Increasing Total Sales. This research is focused on the Marketing Communication Strategy that has been implemented at PT. Astra Motor Semarang in the Honda Big Bike division. The results of data collection and interviews found that the sales data of the Honda Big Bike had significant differences in the ups and downs of sales achievements in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2016, sales of the Honda Big Bike were 7 units, then increased sharply in 2017, namely 32 units, then sales fell again in 2018 to only 19 units. The first factor that affects the achievement of motorcycle sales in 2017 is the intense promotion in the form of media advertisements, personal selling and holding a promotional cast which is carried out every month in 2017. The second factor is sufficient ready stock of Honda motorbikes, so that the waiting period for orders (indent purchase) is not too long because consumers of this type of big bike generally want cash purchases. The third factor is that the price per unit is still affordable for people in Semarang and Central Java. In 2018 there was an unexpected decrease in sales achievement, namely to only 19 units, from the information data obtained by researchers due to the reduced frequency of exhibition event promotions compared to 2017. The motorbike's “ready stock” supply was reduced due to restrictions on imported goods regulations, resulting in consumers who will buy in cash cancels the purchase plan. The enthusiasm of some people, especially in big cities, for the lifestyle of riding motor sports and large motorbikes, the sale of large motorbikes still has a great opportunity. The results showed that the Honda Big Bike Division PT. Astra Motor Semarang has used the Promotion mix theory which has 4 elements of a promotional strategy, namely Advertising, Sales Promotion, Publicity, Personal Selling, which aims to increase sales volume, in addition to product introduction, as well as attracting customers and instilling a good image of the company. Of all the strategies that have been implemented, Personal selling is one of the most dominant promotional strategies, appropriate and effective for selling speciality goods such as the Honda Big Bike which has high value.

Abstract

Fenomena sexting sudah sering ditemukan terutama pada pasangan-pasangan matang yang menjalin hubungan jarak jauh namun tidak menutup kemungkinan sexting dilakukan oleh pasangan-pasangan dengan usia yang masih muda. Aktivitas sexting menjadi sarana pasangan kekasih untuk menyalurkan hasrat seksual mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman bagaimana perempuan mengkomunikasikan pengalaman mereka sebagai korban penyebaran sexting dengan mengembangkan kesadaran sosial untuk menghasilkan perubahan sosial bagi perempuan menjadi manusia yang utuh. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi kritis dengan teknik pengambilan data wawancara mendalam atau indepth interview yang menghadirkan tiga informan. Teori yang menjadi acuan yakni Dyadic Power Theory dan Standpoint Theory. Berdasarkan penelitian ditemukan bahwa seluruh informan melakukan sexting untuk mengekspresikan hasrat seksual mereka. Informan melakukan sexting dengan harapan pasangannya bisa menjaga dan menyimpan konten sexting tersebut tetapi kenyataan tidak berjalan sesuai keinginan. Informan melakukan berbagai komunikasi dengan beberapa pihak untuk menemukan solusi atas penyebaran konten sexting yang mereka alami, komunikasi tersebut menghasilkan sebuah kesadaran atas hakikat perempuan sebagai individu yang berhak untuk mengekspresikan dan menentukan kehidupan yang mereka inginkan.

Abstract

Idol group merupakan subkultur unik di Jepang yang mengkomodifikasikan hubungan parasosial dengan mendorong perilaku konsumtif dari penggemarnya demi mendukung anggota terfavoritnya (oshi). Keyakizaka46 merupakan salah satu idol group terpopuler di Jepang karena konsep unik yaitu menggunakan permasalahan sosial sebagai tema lagu – lagunya. Beberapa penggemar Keyakizaka46 juga berasal dari Indonesia. Hubungan parasosial unik yang dibangun oleh penggemar asal Indonesia dengan anggota Keyakizaka46 menjadi fenomena unik karena fans tidak memiliki banyak kesempatan untuk bertemu dengan idolanya yang merupakan salah satu konsep yang dipromosikan oleh idol group. Tujuan dan keinginan yang dicapai dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami proses komunikasi hubungan parasosial dimulai dari pembentukan hubungan hingga hubungan tersebut berakhir. Hubungan parasosial yang terbentuk dimulai ketika penggemar memilih anggota Keyakizaka46 terfavorit, dipertahankan melalui konsumsi media, dan berakhir saat idola meninggalkan grup. Berdasarkan alasan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil dari penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa penggemar tertarik karena konsep unik yang diperkenalkan oleh Keyakizaka46 karena mereka merasa terhubung dengan konsep tersebut. beberapa kasus menunjukkan penggemar memiliki kedekatan emosional terhadap idola yang juga memengaruhi kehidupan nyata mereka. Penggemar juga berfantasi tentang memiliki hubungan dekat dengan idolanya seperti merasa bahwa idolanya sebagai kekasih atau sosok teman dekat. Perasaan yang kuat dan koneksi kepada idola juga memiliki beberapa konsekuensi, seperti pada beberapa penggemar tidak suka lagi mengakses konten Keyakizaka46 setelah idolanya meninggalkan grup, dan pada kasus lain adalah penggemar menghindari konsekuensi negatif dengan menjaga ekspektasi mereka rendah.

Abstract

In reality, there are various forms of family. Unfortunately, society has not been able to appreciate the diversity of family forms. In fact, children raised by single parents, such as single mothers, are bullied due to their parents' divorce. This research aims to understand the experience of single-parent communication assistance to child survivors of bullying. This research uses a descriptive phenomenological approach, with four informants participating in the study. The four informants are single mothers and have children who have experienced bullying due to their parents' divorce. The theory developed in this research is a theory that explains dialogic communication, namely Dialogic Communication Theory, and a theory that explains relationship maintenance or Relationship Maintenance Theory. Based on the findings in the study, Speech Act Theory was added. Through this research, we can understand that communication assistance by single mothers is carried out with various efforts, not only by words but also by taking concrete actions, such as maintaining emotions when interacting with children, listening to children carefully, providing advice and direction, utilizing applications chat, as well as the role of other family members in giving attention. Single mothers also offer communication assistance by strengthening their children and not becoming authoritarian parents. Single mothers provide confidence to their children to grow selfconfidence. Communication assistance makes the child grow up more confident, independent, not easily giving up, and able to better understand the situation. Thus, the communication assistance carried out by single mothers is an integration of giving attention, strengthening, and trusting.

Abstract

Adanya bias gender dalam masyarakat menyebabkan perempuan kesulitan untuk mencapai posisi kepemimpinan, mengingat posisi kepemimpinan lebih sering dikaitkan dengan karakter-karakter maskulin yang diasosiasikan dengan laki-laki. Namun walau begitu perempuan-perempuan yang menempati posisi manjerial terutama dalam perusahaan masih terus bermunculan, dan kejadian inilah yang dirasa penting untuk dikaji sebagai pembelajar tentang bagaimana kisah keberhasilan seorang pemimpin perempuan tersebut. Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana kisah keberhasilan para perempuan yang menempati posisi manajerial dalam perusahaan terutama dalam segi komunikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan kesulitan untuk memenuhi dua ekspektasi masyarakat, pertama ekspektasi tentang perempuan dan kedua ekspektasi tentang pemimpin. Ketika perempuan berperilaku maskulin sejak awal maka dia akan mendapat evaluasi negatif dari masyarakat karena dianggap menyalahi standar sosial yang berlaku, sehingga perempuan harus mengubah atau menyesuaikan gaya komunikasinya menjadi lebih feminin agar dapat diterima oleh masyarakat. Walaupun gaya komunikasi maskulin lebih cenderung diasosiasikan kepada karakter ideal pemimpin, namun perempuan tidak akan mendapat respon positif jika dirinya terlalu bersifat maskulin maka dari itulah ia harus menegosiasikan antara gaya komunikasi maskulin dan feminin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pemaknaan khalayak terhadap konsep body positivity yang terkandung dalam unggahan Instagram Tara Basro Bulan Maret 2020. Tara Basro sebagai sosok public figure mengunggah dua buah foto yang menampilkan dirinya dalam balutan pakaian underwear. Pada bagian keterangan, Tara Basro menceritakan proses menerima diri yang ia rasakan sebagai perempuan. Unggahan tersebut menuai banyak komentar dari masyarakat Indonesia. Beberapa setuju dengan pernyataan Tara basro, sementara sebagian yang lain mengecam tindakan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes untuk menemukan makna dominan yang muncul serta analisis resepsi milik Stuart Hall untuk mengetahui posisi pemaknaan khalayak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelima informan memiliki pandangan terhadap konsep body positivity yang sejalan dengan konstruksi Tara Basro dalam unggahan tersebut. Body positivity mengajak semua orang untuk menerima diri mereka apa adanya. Harapannya orang-orang tidak lagi membandingkan diri dengan orang lain, mematahkan standar kecantikan yang berkembang di masyarakat, serta memunculkan penilaian positif terhadap diri sendiri.

Abstract

Banyak kasus dimana perempuan kesulitan untuk memutuskan hubungan kekerasan dalam pacaran (KDP) karena adanya dominasi dari pasangan. CATAHU Komnas Perempuan, LRC-KJHAM, dan SPHPN mencatat bahwa KDP menempati peringkat kedua kasus kekerasan terhadap perempuan dan pacar menempati peringkat pertama sebagai pelaku kekerasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana strategi pemutusan hubungan pacaran yang abusive. Paradigma intepretif dan pendekatan fenomenologi dipakai untuk menjelaskan bagaimana pemutusan hubungan dilakukan melalui pengalaman informan yang didapat dari wawancara. Peneliti menggunakan Relational Dissolution Theory, Strategi Pemutusan Hubungan Romantis, Dyadic Power Theory dan Argumentativeness, Assertiveness, and Verbal Aggresiveness Theory untuk menjelaskan alur pemutusan hubungan, strategi yang digunakan serta menjelaskan bagaimana dominasi membuat informan kesulitan memutuskan hubungan kekerasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa informan kesulitan untuk memutuskan hubungannya karena terjebak dalam siklus kekerasan. Siklus kekerasan menyebabkan informan masuk dalam kondisi helplessness (tidak berdaya) yang membuatnya takut untuk melakukan perlawanan. Beberapa strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk memutuskan hubungan, yaitu nada positif (mengungkapkan penyesalan dan berusaha untuk tidak menyakiti pasangan), strategi penarikan diri/penghindaran, strategi manipulatif (memanipulasi pasangan untuk mengakhiri hubungan), justifikasi (menjelaskan ketidakpuasan dan alasan mengapa ingin putus) dan strategi konfrontasi terbuka (konfrontasi langsung untuk mengakhiri hubungan). Selain itu ada satu strategi yang dapat ditambahkan melalui penelitian ini, yaitu strategi dengan bantuan jejaring sosial. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi tersebut dapat mempercepat proses pemutusan hubungan kekerasan karena ada dukungan dari jejaring sosial yang mendorong informan jadi berani melawan pasangan mereka. Keuntungan lainnya adalah penyelamatan citra diri untuk menyelamatkan informan jika pasangan menyebarkan rumor atau aib.
