Abstract

Salah satu sumber antropogenik polutan laut berpotensi bahaya berasal dari kosmetika berupa plastik kemasan, microbeaddan beberapa bahan aktif produk perawatan kulit.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that approximately 50% of all drug use is not appropriate in prescribing, preparing and selling. The inappropriate use of drugs will cause many problems. These issues include aspects of effectiveness, side effects, interactions, and economics. Rational use of drugs according to the WHO conference in Nairobi in 1985: when the patient receives treatment as clinical needed, dose as needed, time period was right, and a cost affordable to the patient's condition. Some cases of irrational use of drugs occur in the use of antibiotics and off-label drugs. One cause of irrational drug use is due to the cooperation between doctors as prescribing and pharmaceutical industry as a producer. In the pharmaceutical industry perspective, this will have an impact on the pharmaceutical profit industry, nowadays in Indonesia pay more attention to rational use of drugs (the right price indicator), supported by the current pharmaceutical era of health care shifted from money oriented or drug oriented to patient oriented.

Abstract

Abstract

Application of stimuli-responsive star polymers in cancer targeting and drug delivery has been extensively researched because of their several advantages in comparison with their linear counterparts. Functionalization and recombination of various arm architectures of the star polymer are very possible to be conducted to suit various needs. The star polymers could not only load more therapeutic drug due to more arms than linear polymers but also be functionalized with targeted moieties for more targeted delivery. Furthermore, the chains in star polymers could be regulated to produce stimuli-responsive star polymer for cancer targeting. The review article aimed to describe the benefits of star polymers and the types of stimuli-responsive delivery system for cancer targeting. Over the last decade, stimuli-responsive star polymers for cancer targeting using either internal stimuli (e.g., pH, redox, enzyme, hypoxia) or external stimuli (e.g., thermal, ultrasound, light, magnetic) has garnered immense interest for researchers. Possibility to mimic a complex natural phenomenon  could be achieved by incorporating various stimuli-responsive functionalities in the star polymer.

Abstract

Free radicals are naturally produced from the body's metabolic processes, but the excessive amount of free radicals can interfere with human health because they cause oxidative stress. Therefore we need antioxidants that can protect against free radicals. Ficus lyrata W. is one of the antioxidant sources. This study aims to formulate instant granules from the Ethanol extract of Ficus lyrata W. using the wet granulation method. The formula is optimized using the Design Expert with the two-level factorial method. The optimized factors are xanthan gum 0,8-1,5% and PVP 0,5-5%. Granules are evaluated and analyzed using a Design Expert. The results obtained showed that Formula 4 with a combination of xanthan gum 0,8% and PVP 5% is the best formula, which the evaluation result is Loss On Drying (LOD) 3,28%, Flowability 16.043 ± 0.221 (g/s), Angle of Rest 21.77 ± 0.862, no precipitate for15 minutes, pH = 4.7, dispersed in 31 seconds and sedimentation time is 52.213 ± 1.7878 (minutes), the results of the antioxidant activity test of the ethanol extract of Ficus lyrata is 38,27 µg/ml, and instant granules is 145,02 µg/ml.Keywords: Antioxidant, Ficus lyrata W., Instant granules, Design expert

Abstract

Seeing the development of the COVID-19 and the increasing number of new cases, WHO has published several updates, guidelines, and health protocols regarding this pandemic. The government of Indonesia has issued an appeal to the public to follow this health protocol. Various educational posters and videos have been widely published on social media, television stations and other communication media. One of the programs that the government always socializes during this pandemic is the implementation of Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) or Clean and Healthy Behavior. The purpose of this Virtual Integrative Community Service program is to find out the level of public knowledge about the importance of PHBS and traveling during a pandemic, especially in the AKB era. The methods used in this activity are surveys on community PHBS, surveys regarding travel activities during the pandemic, making PHBS videos and posters, and webinars on the use of herbs as an antistress and immunity enhancer. The partner community in this online KKN PPM activity is the Langensari village community, Solokanjeruk sub-district in particular and the general public who can access social media. The results of the traveling survey showed that out of 441 respondents, around 332 people did not have plans to travel. Of the 332 respondents who chose not to travel, around 229 respondents argued that they did not have a crucial interest, 142 respondents were worried about contracting COVID-19, 50 respondents said they did not have accommodation, and 102 respondents chose to continue traveling / traveling. The results of the PHBS survey are that most respondents have implemented PHBS with the most results being 99.3%, namely the choice of washing hands and using masks. Respondents who answered no to the third question gave answers to the causes of this in the form of lack of access to information (3.4%), laziness (6.9%), and lack of care (4.1%). The group activities of the 25 KKN-PPM Virtual Integrative have been carried out well and can increase community knowledge of PHBS and health protocols when traveling during a pandemic and increase knowledge about the use and manufacture of herbs to increase immunity.
