Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to 1) analyze Nurcholish Madjid’s thoughts on the modernization of Islamic education, and 2) examine their relevance in developing contemporary Islamic schools. Madjid's concept integrates Islamic values with modern educational principles to create a system that is both adaptive and rooted in religious foundations. Methodology: This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from Nurcholish Madjid’s writings, relevant Islamic education literature, and previous studies to provide a comprehensive analysis of his educational modernization framework. Main Findings: The findings indicate that Madjid’s thoughts on Islamic education modernization remain highly relevant today. His ideas advocate for an integrative curriculum, critical thinking-based pedagogy, and professional institutional management. Furthermore, his emphasis on rationality and openness in Islamic education supports a knowledge-based learning environment, enhancing both intellectual and spiritual development among students. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study highlights how Madjid's modernization framework contributes to contemporary Islamic education by bridging traditional religious teachings with modern educational methodologies. His ideas provide a foundation for developing Islamic schools that are globally competitive while maintaining their religious identity. This study also emphasizes the importance of transparency, accountability, and continuous educational reform in shaping a progressive Islamic education system.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan public speaking terhadap peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU). Public speaking menjadi keterampilan penting di era modern, khususnya dalam dunia akademik dan sosial. Kemampuan berbicara di depan umum yang baik tidak hanya menunjukkan penguasaan materi dan keberanian, tetapi juga mencerminkan kualitas komunikasi interpersonal seseorang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei yang disebarkan kepada mahasiswa aktif semester 6 dari empat program studi yang ada di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial UINSU. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner tertutup dan terbuka yang mengukur dua variabel utama, yaitu kemampuan public speaking dan keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal. Hasil penelitian diharapkan mampu menjelaskan seberapa besar pengaruh kemampuan public speaking terhadap keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal dan memberikan rekomendasi dalam pengembangan kurikulum berbasis soft skill di perguruan tinggi

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the history of the formation and development of the Mughal Dynasty. This research will also explore the advancements in civilization and the intellectual thought during this period, as well as identify the factors that led to its decline during the reign of the dynasty. In the classical and medieval eras, Islamic civilization was recognized as one of the most brilliant civilizations. During this time, no other civilization could rival its greatness. The influence of Islam spread to various regions, including India. In India, the Islamic influence was significant, as evidenced by the rise of several Islamic dynasties such as the Mamluk Dynasty (1206-1290), the Khalji Dynasty (1290-1320), the Tughluq Dynasty (1320-1413), and others. Among all these dynasties, the Mughal Dynasty stands out as the most prominent. This dynasty was the Islamic power that ruled India from the 16th century to the 19th century, and it was one of the three major dynasties (Mughal, Ottoman, and Safavid) that had a significant impact on the Islamic world during the medieval period. The Mughal Dynasty played a crucial role in the advancement of Islam in India, encompassing political, economic, artistic, cultural, religious, and scientific aspects.

Abstract

Character education is an educational effort that aims to improve the quality of educational processes and outcomes that lead to the formation of students' character and noble morals as a whole, integrated and balanced following graduation competency standards in each educational unit. Based on the decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 719/P/2020 concerning Guidelines for implementing curriculum in educational units in special conditions, it provides flexibility for schools to choose a curriculum that suits students' learning needs. In this way, Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan, apart from using the independent curriculum as the national curriculum, also uses the Islamic-based curriculum as a companion curriculum according to the needs of students. This research was conducted to analyze the background of the Islamic Based Curriculum at Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan; To analyze the role of the Islamic Based Curriculum in cultivating religious character at Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan; To analyze the implementation of the Islamic Based Curriculum at Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan; To analyze the evaluation of the Islamic Based Curriculum at Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive/analytic type. The results of this research show that the implementation of the Islamic Curriculum at Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan is effective in instilling religious character, developing academic potential, and forming students with noble character and strong faith. Abstrak Pendidikan karakter adalah upaya pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan mutu proses dan hasil pendidikan yang mengarah pada pembentukan karakter dan akhlak mulia peserta didik secara utuh, terpadu dan seimbang sesuai dengan standar kompetensi kelulusan pada setiap satuan pendidikan. Berdasarkan keputusan menteri Pendidikan dan kebudayaan Republik Indonesia Nomor 719/P/2020 tentang Pedoman pelaksanaan kurikulum pada satuan pendidikan dalam kondisi khusus memberikan fleksibilitas bagi sekolah untuk memilih kurikulum yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran peserta didik. Dengan begitu Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan di samping menggunakan kurikulum merdeka sebagai kurikulum nasional juga menggunakan Islamic Based Curriculum sebagai kurikulum pendamping sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan unuk menganalisis latar belakang Islamic Based Curriculum di Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan; Untuk menganalisis peranan Islamic Based Curriculum dalam penanaman karakter religius di Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan; Untuk menganalisis penerapan Islamic Based Curriculum di Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan; Untuk menganalisis evaluasi Islamic Based Curriculum di Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif/analitik. Hasil penelitian ini adalah penerapan Islamic Based Curriculum di Al-Ikram Islamic School Medan efektif dalam menanamkan karakter religius, mengembangkan potensi akademik dan membentuk peserta didik yang berakhlak mulia dan beriman kuat.
