Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of soaking in a solution of Bandotan plants (Ageratum conyzoides L) on the quality of Mojosari duck eggs. This research method was a laboratory experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and three replications. The concentration of egg soaking in a solution of Bandotan plants was 0% (T0), 10% (T1), 20% (T2), 30% (T3), and 40% (T4). The research data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if there were differences between treatments, then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that soaking in a solution of Bandotan plants gave a significant difference (P0.05) to the shrinkage of egg weight, egg cavity height, egg yolk index, egg white index, haugh unit (HU). The value of egg weight shrinkage from the smallest to the largest as follows 6.87% (T2) and 12.14% (T0). Egg cavity height: 4.41 (T2) and 10.31 (T0). Egg yolk index: 0.12 (T0) and 0.46 (T2). Egg white index: 0.043 (T0) and 0.101 (T2). Haugh unit (HU): 52.20 (T0) and 80.37 (T2). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that soaking Mojosari duck eggs in a 20% solution of Bandotan (A. conyzoides L) for 12 hours was the most effective concentration for maintaining internal egg quality during 21 days of storage at room temperature.

Abstract

Low student interest in reading and the suboptimal integration of literacy corners into learning remain issues in elementary schools, where literacy corners generally serve only as book storage areas. This community service activity aims to transform literacy corners into part of the development of inspiring deep learning based classrooms to support a culture of literacy in schools. The program was implemented over three months, involving 10 teachers and 100 students from Ngenep 1 and Bumiayu 01 Elementary School, Malang Regency, through a participatory and contextual approach that emphasized the active involvement of teachers and students in each stage of the activity. Program evaluation was conducted using structured observation, reading interest questionnaires, analysis of literacy corner visit frequency, and semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. The evaluation results showed a 75% increase in visits to the literacy corner in three months, from an average of 2.5 times per week before the program to 4.4 times per week after the program, accompanied by a threefold increase in book borrowing in one semester. Qualitatively, students showed more active involvement in reading discussions, learning reflections, and various literacy activities. This indicates that the integration of deep learning-based literacy corners is effective in strengthening literacy culture and creating a meaningful learning environment in elementary schools, thus having the potential to become a model for managing corners.

Abstract

This research was prompted by the low initial reading skills of first-grade students at SDN 1 Ngingit due to conventional teaching methods. The study aims to enhance these skills through the "Pohon Aksara" (Alphabet Tree) media using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design by Kemmis & McTaggart. The subjects consisted of 28 students during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through reading tests, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed a significant improvement: in the pre-cycle stage, only 21.43% of students were fluent readers; this increased to 42.86% in Cycle I and reached 82.14% in Cycle II. This success was driven by the use of varied visual media, an interactive approach, and individual mentoring, which boosted student enthusiasm and confidence. It is concluded that the "Pohon Aksara" media is effective and highly recommended as an innovative solution to strengthen early literacy in lower-grade elementary school classrooms.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop e-modules of literacy education based on Flipbook application to increase reading interest among elementary school students. This research is motivated by the low interest in reading among students and the limited interactive and interesting learning media. The research and development (R&D) method was used with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The test subjects were limited to fifth grade students at one of the Bandungrejosari 3 elementary schools in Malang. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires, and analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. The development results show that the flipbook-assisted literacy e-module is effective in fostering students' interest and character in reading in digital literacy learning. Thus, the use of e-modules with flipbooks can be an alternative solution for character-oriented learning.

Abstract

Beginning reading ability is a fundamental skill that must be mastered by first-grade elementary school students, as it serves as the foundation for future academic success. However, early reading instruction is still predominantly implemented using conventional methods that tend to be monotonous and less engaging, resulting in low reading proficiency among students. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were 28 first-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Ngingit in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ beginning reading abilities. In the pre-cycle stage, only 21.43% of students were categorized as fluent readers. After the implementation of the Pohon Aksara media in Cycle I, the percentage increased to 42.86%, and further improved significantly to 82.14% in Cycle II. The Pohon Aksara media is recommended as an effective alternative instructional medium to enhance early literacy in lower-grade elementary school classrooms.

Abstract

In Indonesian language learning in elementary schools, there is a tendency to use limited teaching materials, especially those focused on textbooks. This can cause students to feel less interested and potentially reduce their enthusiasm in following the learning materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the development of Flip PDF Corporate Edition-based E-Books for fictional and non-fiction story materials for fifth-grade elementary school students. This development research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data analysis in this study uses qualitative and quantitative methods. Based on the results of the assessment of media experts, the percentage was 91.66%, material experts 93.18%, language experts 100%, from the three experts, an average of 94.95% was obtained with the category "very valid". The results of the teacher's practicality test obtained 93.75% with the category "very practical", while limited trials by students obtained 88.88% with the category "very practical", and extensive trials obtained 90.65% with the category "very practical". Meanwhile, the effectiveness test using the N-Gain score obtained 0.8 with the "moderate" category and in percentage terms obtained 82.1 with the "Very Effective" category. So it can be concluded that the use of the Flip PDF Corporate Edition-based E-Book is valid, practical, and effective for use as Indonesian language teaching materials in Elementary Schools.

Abstract

The transition from preservice to professional teacher requires more than theoretical mastery, but demands reflective engagement with actual classroom practice. This paper discusses how video-based reflection in teaching practicum enhances preservice teacher professional quality. Twenty-five preservice teachers in a micro-teaching program underwent a guided intervention in the form of video-recorded lessons, guided reflection, and semi-structured interviews. Data were thematically analyzed using NVivo. The findings showed that video reflection supported three dimensions of professional growth: skills development, identity formation, and confidence building. Participants moved from surface level consciousness of anxiety, classroom management issues, and teaching shortcomings to tangible improvement plans such as media redesign, rehearsal, and language enhancement. Video recordings provided substantial evidence connecting theory and practice to promote a growth mindset and long-term professional goals. These results underscore the value of incorporating guided video reflection within teacher education curricula as a transformative approach to building reflective practices and to advancing preservice teacher journey toward professionalization. It implies that professional development takes time and deep reflection which preservice teachers have to do as their trajectories before being good teachers in the future. Ultimately, self-reflection, when supported by video-based and guided reflection, can transform performance episodes into meaningful pathways for developing teaching proficiency.

Abstract

Community service activities aim to increase motivation and help parents in parenting. The method consists of several stages: (1). Counseling for parents by motivating parents to support their children's learning, material delivery activities, sharing sessions, ending with questions and answers, (2). Counselling for students, mainly grades 5 and 6, who will face exams to be motivated to study harder. The activities consist of delivering motivational materials for students, question and answer activities, and writing letters to their parents containing the goals that students want to achieve. Implementing the motivation and parenting classes goes according to the planned program. Parents and students were enthusiastic about participating in this training. Some suggestions include the need for regular mentoring activities, bearing in mind the limited knowledge of the community regarding parenting because parents are the first and primary source of education for children.
