Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the population of lactic acid bacteria and pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli) in the gastrointestinal tract (duodenum, jejunum, ileum and cecum) of broiler chickens aged 2, 4 and 6 weeks given probiotics and phytogenics in the diet. The study used 96 day old chicks (DOC) which were reared up to the age of six weeks. The study was conducted using an experimental method, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four ration treatments and four replications. The ration treatments consisted of: R1 (basal ration/control), R2 (basal ration + probiotic), R3 (basal ration + phytogenic), and R4 (basal ration + probiotic + phytogenic). The variables observed were the population of lactic acid bacteria and pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli) in the gastrointestinal tract/intestine of broiler chickens (doudenum, jejunum, ileum and cecum) aged 2, 4 and 6 weeks. Data analysis was carried out with one-way variance and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the use of probiotics and phytogenics as feed additives in the diet significantly (P<0.05) increased the of lactic acid bacteria population and decreased the Escherichia coli population in the gastrointestinal tract of broiler chickens aged 2, 4 and 6 weeks of the study. It was concluded that the use of probiotics and phytogenics as feed additives in the ration could have a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract of broilers.

Abstract

Women who are victims of elephant attacks often experience fear in carrying out daily activities, impacting their psychological well-being. This study examines religiosity as a factor influencing their psychological resilience amid frequent elephant incursions into residential areas. The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of religiosity on the psychological well-being of these women. The study used religiosity and psychological well-being scales as measuring instruments, with purposive sampling and a total sample of 22 participants. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression, yielding a significant value of 0.013 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect. The R Square value was 0.271, meaning religiosity accounts for 27.1% of the variance in psychological well-being, while 72.9% is influenced by other factors. These findings highlight the important role of religiosity in helping women maintain psychological well-being despite the ongoing threat of elephant attacks.

Abstract

The use of rice transplanter technology, which requires less labor in the rice planting process, is increasingly being adopted by farmers. However, despite the implementation of rice transplanter technology, some farmers still prefer to maintain traditional methods due to their perceived effectiveness in ensuring the precision of seed planting. This study aims to analyze the income of farmers who use rice transplanter technology and explore the relationship between the farmers' socio-economic characteristics and their income. The results show that the average income of farmers using Rice Transplanters in Indrapuri, Aceh Besar, reaches Rp 16,551,529 per planting season, with an average income of Rp 49,364,210.5 per hectare. Socio-economic characteristics of farmers, such as age, education level, and land area, have a significant positive relationship with income, while the number of dependents and farming experience show a negative relationship with the income of rice transplanter users. In conclusion, the application of rice transplanter technology can increase farmers' income, especially when supported by favorable socio-economic characteristics, such as education level and the area of land managed.
