Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to analyze the level of mathematical communication skills of students in solving problems in the material of two-variable linear equation system with the categorization of the level of high, medium and low mathematical communication skills. The subjects in this study were eighth grade students as many as 24 people. The form of data collection is giving 5 items written test questions and interviews with selected subjects. Based on the results of the analysis, the average value of all instrument questions mathematical communication skills gained 43% for indicators linking images to mathematical ideas, 44% for indicators of constructing conjectures, formulating arguments, formulating definitions and generalizations, 21% for indicators stating ideas, situations and mathematical relations with images, 31% for indicators state mathematical situations or daily events into mathematical models, and 27% for indicators explain and make questions from mathematical problems so that if they are totaled and averaged 44%. Then the mathematical communication skills of class VIII junior high school students in the two variable linear equation material are low.

Abstract

This study discusses the problem of students in solving creative mathematical problems and renewal where students do the problem also to learn the level of ability to think mathematically creatively. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. While the population in this study were all junior high school students in the city of Bandung, while the sample was 30 grade VIII students in one of the junior high schools in the city of Bandung. The results obtained from this study indicate that indicators of flexible thinking and original indicators of thinking in students' creative thinking abilities obtain the lowest percentage of 41.67% and 39.06% respectively. Then the mistakes made by students in solving mathematical creative thinking problems are given in several aspects of making mathematical processes, regulating the adequacy of not and the concepts that are contained, and wrong in calculating operations. The level of students' creative thinking skills are still relatively low, as seen from the number of mistakes students make in completing test questions mathematical creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of seeing an increase in mathematical creative thinking ability and learning motivation of middle school students in the city of Cimahi with a problem-based learning approach. The background of the research conducted was to refer to mathematical creative thinking ability and low student motivation in junior high schools in the city of Cimahi. The effort to see a significant change in the ability under study is by learning that can encourage students to be more motivated in each learning process. One of the learning in question is the process of learning mathematics using a problem-based learning approach. Descriptive research with quantitative approach. The population contained in this study were junior high school students of class VII. The sample is one class, amounting to 37 students. Sampling in this study was randomly assigned, in a random sampling technique, where each sampling group as part of the population had the same opportunity to represent the population. From the sampling, it was obtained class VII-A given the action of learning with problems or PBL (Problem Based Learning). The instrument used was a test of creative thinking ability and student learning motivation scale questionnaire.The results of the study concluded that there was an increase in the mathematical creative thinking ability of class VII-A significantly better than conventional learning. In addition, students who are given mathematical learning actions with a problem-based learning approach get better learning motivation compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and examine students' communication skills and mathematical dispositions, examine the communication skills in the material set by giving them written tests in the form of essays. The subjects in this study were 10 students of class VIIA MTs Nurul Hatta Ciharasas Bandung Barat. The question instrument used consisted of 5 questions with indicators of mathematical communication skills, and a questionnaire was made to look at mathematical dispositions or students' confidence in mathematics. The research method uses descriptive analysis, which is a case study to determine the extent of achievement of indicators of mathematical communication skills and to know the level of mathematical disposition categories. Processing data is calculated in the form of percent of indicators of cognitive and affective abilities. Based on the results of the highest indicator research that is 100% and the lowest is 20.33%

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to understand the benefits of critical thinking skills and students' mathematical understanding skills in the subject matter of the Two Variable Linear Equation System. The study was conducted at 36 Public Junior High School Bandung in the odd semester of the 2018/2019 academic year in Bandung. The population of the activity was all students of class VIII with a sample of 30 students. The research instrument uses ability test questions. The research method used is qualitative research design. Data evaluation is done by reducing, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. This research activity can be concluded that the ability of students in SPLDV material is still low, especially in applying to daily life.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the mistakes of students in solving mathematical understanding and ability to question the extent to which students do such errors as well as to know the level of understanding of its mathematical ability. The methods used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach.The results obtained from this study showed that the percentage of indicators to apply the concept in mathematical algorithms in the ability of understanding the students, get the lowest percentages with percentage of 34.72% on question No. 4. Then the errors committed students in resolving the question of the ability of mathematical understanding is located on some of the aspects that is mistaken in applying the concepts in resolving the problem, as well as mistaken in operation count. The level of understanding of the mathematical ability of students still belongs to low visible from the large number of errors committed students in resolving the question of mathematical understanding ability test.

Abstract

This research starts from the emergence of problems experienced directly by the author during the learning process, namely the low ability of students to connect to the material in One Variable Equations and Linear Inequalities. The approach chosen by the author is a contextual approach, which starts from the things that are real in everyday life and emphasizes the process skills of doing mathematics. While the research method used is classroom action research (PTK), which combines research procedures with substantive action, which seeks to review and reflect on a learning model with the aim of improving quality (both process and product) of learning. This study consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation and evaluation and reflection. The instruments used are learning instruments (RPP and LKS) and data collection instruments consisting of test instruments (formative tests and sub-summative tests) and non-test instruments ( observation sheet, student journal, questionnaire and interview). This study aims to determine the connection ability of students of class VII-C SMP in Bandung after getting learning with contextual approaches, and student responses to learning with contextual approaches. The results of the study showed an increase in connection skills and positive responses of students of class VII-C. this can be seen from the results of the formative tests which showed a significant increase between cycles. Students also give a positive response to this learning. This can be seen from the attitude of those who are enthusiastic in participating in learning with a contextual approach. Students who were initially lacking in attention, gradually turned to concentration, because they felt happy about this contextual approach. In working groups of students also seemed enthusiastic about discussing with friends. This indicates a positive response from students to the contextual approach

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of high school students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The population in this study were all high school students in West Bandung Regency, while the sample was 20 students of class XI in one of the high schools in West Bandung Regency. The results obtained from this study indicate that the percentage of indicators 3 chooses and applies strategies to solve mathematical problems or outside mathematics and indicator 4 explains or interprets the results according to the problem and checks the correctness of the results or answers, gets the lowest percentage with 60% and 31%. Then the students' mistakes in solving the problem of mathematical problem solving ability lies in the process of selecting and implementing a calculation strategy and students have not been able to elaborate on the strategies that will be carried out to carry out the next calculation. Based on the results of student answers, it can be said that the level of problem solving ability of students in one of the high schools is quite sufficient even though they still have many difficulties in working on the questions on indicators 3 and 4.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical communication skills of MTs students in Algebraic Forms. This research method used a qualitative descriptive method. The place of research was conducted in one of the Bandung City Middle Schools in class VII of the odd semester of the academic year 2018-2019. The population of this study was seventh grade students of Al-Amanah Bandung MTs in the material of Algebra Forms. The research subjects were class VII-a students. to obtain research data used test questions about the description. The results of the study concluded: (1) expressing daily events in mathematical language or symbols, (2) explaining ideas, situations and relationships, verbally and in writing by using algebraic expressions, (3) reading with understanding, a written percentage of mathematics , (4) connecting real objects, images, and diagrams into mathematical ideas

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of students' mathematical dispositions on mathematical creative thinking skills. The method of this study uses correlational methods and quantitative approaches. The population in this study were students of one of the Vocational Schools in West Bandung Regency and the sample of this study was 31 students of the XI TEI class. The instrument in this study was a test of mathematical creative thinking skills as much as 4 items of the description questions, then the non-test instruments were in the form of mathematical dispositions of 20 scales of positive and negative statements. The stage carried out in this study was the filling of mathematical disposition questionnaires, tests of mathematical creative thinking skills. The results of this study concluded that mathematical dispositions have a positive effect on students' mathematical creative thinking abilities of 1.7% and 98.3% are influenced by other factors beyond mathematical disposition
