Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the contextual approach to students' mathematical reasoning abilities in one junior high school in the city of Bandung. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects in this study were class VIII students in one junior high school in Bandung as many as 32 students. This study uses Classroom Action Research (PTK) with data collection techniques carried out, namely test instruments mathematical reasoning abilities as many as 5 items. The results of learning research using a contextual approach by performing pretest and posttest tests can affect the mathematical reasoning abilities of junior high school students with an average percentage of 81%

Abstract

This study was aims to analyze critical thinking skills and mathematical problem solving in junior high school students with a Problem Based Learning approach in the matter of straight line equations. This study was conducted in class VIII F consisting of 36 students at CILILIN 1 Public High School. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The instrument used is a description test instrument. The results of this study indicate that critical thinking skills and mathematical problem solving and the independence of students in class VIII F taught with the PBL approach are still relatively low. Factors that cause these conditions include students who do not understand the strategies in solving problems and in the ability to think critically students are not careful in answering questions and are not complete in the steps to answer the questions

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and study about applying realistic mathematic approach to Mathematical creative thinking ability and Mathematical logical thinking ability MTs students. the method used in this study is the method of paired samples with quantitative data. The population in this study were students of MTs in West Bandung regency with a sample of 25 people who set out with purposive sampling technique in one of the private MTs in West Bandung regency. Instruments in this study a mathematical creative thinking ability tests by 4 items and test mathematical ability to think logically as one item. Then the results of this study came to the conclusion that, the relationship between these two variables showed a positive direction and the average mathematical ability to think creatively is not lower than the average of mathematical logical thinking ability if applied by realistic mathematic approach.

Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive study was to determine the ability of creative thinking and self-efficacy mathematical students of class VIII SMP Pasundan 1. The subject of this research is students of class VIII which consists of 36 students. Data collection techniques namely the test sheet mathematical creative thinking abilities of students and the questionnaire of self efficacy (Mastery Experience, Vicarious Experience, Verbal Persuasion, and Physiological and Affective states), interview and documentation. Based on the analysis of data ability to think creatively and questionnaires self efficacy, showed that the creative thinking Abilities of JUNIOR high school students Pasundan 1 Cimahi class VIII on the material equation of a straight line is already largely achieve the indicator of the ability to think creatively. This is indicated by the percentage of the ability of mathematical creative thinking reached 69%, Self-efficacy mathematical students of SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi class VIII in the material equation of a straight line in the category that most is good. It is based on the results of the percentage of self efficacy up to 61%, and Self-efficacy mathematical students who have confidence will be successful in resolving the matter affects the level of mathematical creative thinking of students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of creative thinking of mathematics students at MTs Al-Basyariyah with indicator of the ability to think creatively mathematics students used was the fleuncy, flexibility originality and elaboration and to investigate the self concept of students at each point statement. This study was conducted to 36 students in MTs Al-Basyariyah using qualitative descriptive method. Instruments used in the form of four items of mathematical creative thinking abilities of students in the set and the questionnaire included 30 statements consisting of 23 statements positive and 7 negative statement. The conclusion of this study is the ability to think creatively mathematics students of MTs Al-Basyariyah still low with a percentage of 51% and self-concept is still low with a percentage of 43%.

Abstract

In this study the authors analyzed the difficulties of students in the process of the ability of mathematical creative thinking skills and to determine student learning interest in each item statement. Based on the analysis, for the material the straight Equation error made by students in working on creative thinking questions is the mastery of the concept of the material resulting in 67.63% of 34 creative students. The question instrument used is a question that has been tested for reliability, validity, differential power and difficulty index has also been validated by an expert validator. The interest in studying junior high school students is only reaching 59.20% in straight line equations. The indicator of student interest in learning gained the smallest percentage of 56.09% so that it influenced other indicators. The research method uses descriptive qualitative analysis to find out in depth the achievement of indicators of creative thinking skills and mathematical learning interest in each item statement. Based on the results of the overall research that the achievement of indicators of the ability to think creatively and the learning interest of students is still low.

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of mathematics learning outcomes of students at Nurul Hidayah Pasundan Vocational School on Linear Program material. This research was conducted in 3 cycles, while the data taken was the results of student replication data per cycle. In each cycle 3 steps of the study are carried out, namely planning, implementation, and continuous reflection. From the results of the test 1 cycle students obtained an average value of 52, learning completeness 39%, students divided into 3 groups, who mastered the material, only partially mastered, and who did not master the material. In cycle 2 the average score is 60, learning accuracy is 61%, until the end of cycle 3 the average results are 67, learning completeness is 82%. From the results of the end of cycle 3, the students' scores tend to be evenly distributed which meet the minimum criteria for accuracy.

Abstract

One aspect that must be mastered by students to achieve the goal of mathematics learning is mathematical reasoning ability. In other words, students are able to use mathematics as a reasoning tool both in mathematics learning in the classroom and in everyday life. This study aims to describe junior high school students' mathematical reasoning abilities in understanding quadrilateral and triangle material. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study with 20 students of grade VIII junior high school students. The research data is in the form of written answers obtained from written tests in the form of descriptions. The results of this study are based on the results of descriptions and interviews of several students, namely for reasoning ability with written text 20% indicator (low), mathematical expression 15% (quite low), drawing 13% (very low) while for learning interest, as much as 5% have interest is very high, as many as 20% have high interest, as much as 25% have enough interest, as much as 50% have low interest. So that it can be concluded that the level of reasoning ability of students' learning interests is still low.

Abstract

Mathematical learning is given at each stage, taught so that students can use mathematics as a way of reasoning. The reality in the field of education in schools is more about students' intelligence for the development of student creativity. Meanwhile, it is equally important to achieve student success in learning. Students are asked to process information about processing information. Here the teacher gives freedom to students in expressing opinions in the learning process. This freedom can be realized with students who are given the freedom to solve mathematical problems in various ways. In learning mathematics at a private junior high school in Bandung, specifically on the subject of straight line and gradient equations, students find it difficult to understand the meaning of straight line and gradient stories, difficulties in understanding methods and still confused which method to use to answer questions question given by the teacher. So the classroom action research (CAR) was held to improve students' mathematical thinking skills using open consent, this study was conducted with 2 cycles and 8 meetings. The results of this study indicate that students can improve the quality of the test results tested in each test. In addition, the average value of the initial test results of 17.5 then increased to 64.75 on the results of the first cycle test, then increased again to 74.72222 on the results of the cycle II test. This shows an increase in the ability of Grade VIII students at Mutiara 4 Bandung Middle School can be improved through open agreement.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of learning independence of high school students on mathematical communication skills. The method used in this study was a correlational method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study was one of the high school students in West Bandung Regency and the sample was 32 students of the X Language class. The material used is a flat side space building material that has been taught in class VIII. The instrument in this study was a test of mathematical reasoning skills as many as 7 items of description questions and then the non-test instruments were in the form of a learning independence scale as many as 28 positive and negative revelations. The stage that was carried out in this study was filling in the test questions for mathematical communication skills then filling in the learning independence questionnaire. The results of this study conclude that student learning independence has a positive effect on mathematical communication skills of 57.7% and 42.3% influenced by other factors outside the independence of student learning
