Abstract

This study aims to answer the questions that have been formulated, namely: (1) the types of mistakes made by the subject in solving the set questions; (2) the cause of an error made by the subject in working on set questions. Classifying the types of errors according to Newman, namely reading errors, misunderstanding, transformation errors, process skill errors and errors writing the final answer. This study uses descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study was seventh grade students of Al-Mubarokah MTs. Subject collection using purposive sampling technique. Data was taken using the description test method. In this study the questions used were 5 questions about set stories. The results showed that the three subjects made mistakes in understanding, errors in transforming and errors in process skills. The cause of this error is because the subject does not know what is actually being asked about the problem, misunderstands the information in the question so that it cannot complete the next process, does not understand how to change into a mathematical model and is not skilled in calculating.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of applying the reciprocal teaching approach in an effort to improve students' critical thinking skills in the XI-IOP B class of SMK 1 Cimahi in the matrix material. This research is a type of classroom action research consisting of 2 (two) cycles based on the mathematics teacher's syllabus in class XI-IOP B. Each cycle is based on the objectives to be achieved in learning. The cycle in this study includes the following procedures: (1) Planning; (2) Acting; (3) Observation and evaluation; (4) Reflection. Based on the results of research conducted on class XI-IOP B students of SMK 1 Cimahi that the use of the reciprocal teaching approach can improve mathematical critical thinking skills, namely: (1) the response and learning outcomes shown by students in the second cycle are very good and (2) Tests of mathematical representation ability of students in each cycle experienced a good improvement, until the last cycle showed 87%. Based on the results of the test it can be seen that there are only 4 students out of a total of 29 students who have grades below 65. Learning by applying the reciprocal teaching approach is very effective to be used in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical connection ability in solving the system problems of linear variables two variables and learning motivation of students of class X-OTKP 1 Computer Vocational School AKP Cianjur. The subject of this study of 21 students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are done by giving a test of mathematical connection ability and learning motivation questionnaire, then, data is processed and analyzed through three stages, namely checking the results of student answers, presenting student test data and questionnaires, and drawing conclusions from the results of the study. The results of the data show that the mathematical connection ability in the indicator recognizes representation is equivalent to the same concept, obtained data of students who answer correctly that is equal to 33.33% and students who answer incorrectly are 66.67%. For indicators using and assessing the relevance of topics between mathematics, data obtained from students who answered correctly were 38.10% and students who answered incorrectly were 61.90%. For indicators using mathematics in everyday life, data obtained by students who answered correctly was equal to 47.62% and students who answered incorrectly were 52.38%. So it can be concluded that students' mathematical connection ability is classified as low. However, students have high learning motivation in mathematics learning which is equal to 80.71%.

Abstract

This study aims to find out about creative thinking skills and mathematical problem solving and the confidence of junior high school students using a contextual approach. This research is descriptive study qualitative questions research. This research was held in one of the junior high schools in the west Bandung regency, the subject of this study was the class VIII B students of the Satap Lembang junior high school in Cililin. Data analysis is done by data reduction techniques, data presentation and conclusion drawing mathematical creative thinking ability is an ability in wich student are able to provide various answers to the given, they are able to see a problem not only based on one point of view but more than that, they are able to record a problem in detail so that is more interesting to study, able to express answers in different ways than they have ever been, and be able to explore them into various answers. Mathematical problem solving is the ability of students to find solutions or ideas regarding the goals to be achieved, througha activities to understand problems, plan activities, or design problem solving strategies, carry out calculations, and examine the result or solutions. While self-confidence is a belief of someone who is able and able to deal with situations that exist and are being faced, both the circumstances in themselves and their environment. People who have their self-confidence will be able to judge themselves whether it is positive or negative, can position themselves properly, not depend on others to make a decision. He is able to face all the risks that exist and can recognize himself well. By using a contextual approach which ai an approach that connects exisiting learning with real life or maybe experienced by students, it is expected that students will easily apply it in learning activities.
