Abstract

Pahat merupakan komponen utama dalam proses pemesinan selain mesin bubut dan benda kerja. Umur pahat merupakan suatu data pemesinan yang sangat penting dalam perencanaan pemesinan. Vortextube merupakan alat yang dapat memisahkan aliran udara yang bertekanan menjadi udara panas dan dingin. Dalam penelitian ini pengaruh kecepatan potong, gerak makan, dan kedalaman potong terhadap keausan pahat yang digunakan akan diteliti. Metode Taguchi digunakan menganalisa faktor yang paling berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keausan. Pada penelitian ini akan dianalisis secara kualitatif (grafik) dan kuantitatif (statistic) dengan metode analisa varian (ANOVA). Dalam penelitian ini, proses pembubutan menggunakan pahat HSS dan material benda kerja baja ST 41. Dalam proses pengujian, gerak makan (f) yang digunakan adalah 0,09 mm/rev, 0,12 mm/rev,0,18 mm/rev, sedangkan kecepatan potong (v) yang digunakan adalah 58,72 mm/min, 86,35 m/min, 113,25 m/min dan untuk kedalaman potong (a) 1,0 mm, 1,5 mm, 2,0 mm. Udara  dingin vortextube yang sudah ada dilakukan pada penelitian sebelumnya yaitu suhu 15º dan tekanan udara 5 bar/psi. Dari analisa varian  yang dilakukan, kecepatan potong memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap keausan pahat. Kondisi parameter pemesinan yang optimal diperoleh pada kecepatan potong (v): 58,72, gerak makan (f) 0,09 mm/rev dan kedalaman potong (a) : 1,0 mm dengan umur pahat mencapai 139 menit. Laju keausan tepi pahat semakin meningkat dengan bertambahnya kecepatan potong. Dari analisa  S/N ratio  diperoleh parameter pemesinan yang memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap keausan pahat adalah  kecepatan potong  dengan nilai kontribusi  = 0,024  karena tidak melebihi > 0,05. Abstract

Fossil energy is running low, causing an increase in the selling price of fossil fuels. This causes the global community to become aware and consider using renewable fuels which are more environmentally friendly. Utilizing nutmeg refining waste into biopellets can be a solution for managing waste and producing alternative fuel. This research focuses on utilizing nutmeg refining waste into biopellets with a mixture of 0%, 3% and 5% tapioca flour using an extruder machine with engine rotation speeds of 1700 RPM and 2800 RPM. The aim of this research is to determine the composition of the adhesive mixture and the engine rotation speed to obtain optimal heating value. The materials in this research were solid waste from nutmeg distillation and tapioca as adhesive. Making biopellets uses 2 treatments, namely 3 variations of adhesive mixture (0 gram, 90 grams, 150 grams) and 2 variations of machine rotation speed (1700 RPM and 2800 RPM). Meanwhile, the tools used are a pellet printing machine, tachometer, digital balance and caloribomb. The results obtained from testing the calorific value in this study were sample A 5,094.27 cal/g, Sample B 5,603.14 cal/g, Sample C 5,346.24 cal/g, Sample D 5,604.85, Sample E 5,789.10 cal/g, Sample F 5,571.65. So it can be concluded that the addition of adhesive and the engine rotation speed on the extruder machine affect the heating value obtained. Abstract

Tepung porang diperoleh dari proses pengeringan dan pengayakan umbi porang, yang mana memiliki kadar glukomanan yang tinggi. Glukomanan merupakan serat pangan larut air yang mengandung kalori yang rendah dan banyak digunakan sebagai bahan pengental dalam industri pangan. Salah satu proses pengolahan porang menjadi glukomanan diantaranya adalah pengayakan rotary screen, yaitu suatu proses pemisahan bahan berdasarkan ukuran lubang kawat atau mesh yang terdapat pada ayakan yang berputar. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh sudut kemiringan dan kecepatan putaran ayakan terhadap kinerja mesin rotary screen dan menentukan kondisi terbaik mesin rotary screen dalam pemisahan glukomanan tepung porang. Mesin pemisah yang digunakan jenis rotary screen dengan dua jenis ukuran mesh. Sudut kemiringan yang digunakan 5°, 10°, dan 15°, kecepatan putaran ayakan divariasikan pada 30 rpm, 40 rpm,dan 50 rpm. Desain penelitian yang dipilih untuk dua faktor dan dua level adalah full factorial, dimana massa input awal tepung porang sebanyak 1 kg. Hasil analisis ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa kedua parameter, baik sudut kemiringan ataupun kecepatan putaran berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap massa glukomanan dengan nilai P-value sebesar 0,03, sedangkan kecepatan putaran ayakan sebesar 0,017. Berdasarkan hasil respon parameter terbaik diperoleh bahwa variasi sudut kemiringan 5° dan kecepatan putaran ayakan 30 rpm memberikan hasil terbesar dengan rendemen glukomanan sebesar 340 gram.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a type of fish cultivated by local people in Lake Ranau, West Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. Fish is easily damaged by chemical and microbiological processes, so proper handling and processing is needed to extend its shelf life. Shredded spiced fish is an innovative diversification of shredded fish product made from tilapia fish ori-ginating from Lake Ranau with added of multi-spices. Multi-spices are known to have high antioxidant content, so they can improve the quality and develop the taste of shredded spiced fish product.  The multi spices seasoning formulation and process stages greatly influence the characteristics of the shredded produced.  This research aims to study the formulation and processing treatment of the sensory characteristics of the best shredded spices fish. Determining the best formulation and processing treatment was determined using the sensory test method, namely a scoring test involving 30 panelists, then the data was processed using Microsoft Excel 2021. The result showed that the shredded spiced fish product with sample code 212 (without stir-frying) produced the best characteristics with a texture parameter value of 3.85; fragrance 4.05; colors 4.85; and tasted 4 with a total score of 16.75. Keywords: Multi spices, organoleptic, process stages, sheredded fish, tilapia.

Abstract

The process of cutting low carbon steel (ST-37) typically utilizes High-Speed Steel (HSS) tools owing to their high hardness, affordability, and ease of shaping tool geometry. In machining, tool geometry plays a crucial role in the material cutting process and determines the quality of the final product, particularly surface roughness. The objective of this research is to achieve optimal surface roughness by varying the tool geometry and nose radius. This study employed an experimental approach using ST-37 and HSS tools. The variations in tool geometry include side rake angles of 12°, 15°, and 18°; side cutting edge angles of 85°, 80°, and 75°; and nose radii of 0 mm, 0.4 mm, and 0.8 mm. The machining parameters applied consist of a cutting depth of 1 mm and 2 mm, spindle rotation speeds of 185 rpm, 425 rpm, and 624 rpm, and a feed rate of 0.05 mm/rev, 0.075 mm/rev, and 0.1 mm/rev. Tool wear measurements were captured using a USB camera, whereas the surface roughness was assessed using a surface roughness tester. The impact of the tool geometry on the surface roughness was analyzed using the Taguchi-Grey Relational Analysis (Taguchi-GRA) and ANOVA methods. The optimal combination for ST-37 lathe machining with a sharpening tool is: A1 (cutting depth 1 mm), B1 (cutting speed 17.42 m/min), C3 (feed 0.05 mm/rev), D1 (corner radius 0 mm), E3 (side rake angle γ 18°), and F3 (side cutting edge angle γ 75°). Abstract

The rotary system sweet potato washing machine is used to clean sweet potatoes that are dirty and contain lots of soil and other impurities such as microorganisms. The rotary system which rotates and rolls is used for perfect movement, so that the dirt covering the sweet potato is removed completely. The aim of this activity is to test and determine the production capacity of the rotary system of sweet potato washing machines used by sweet potato collecting farmers. The testing was carried out by putting a number of sweet potatoes into the washing tub, along with running water as a cleaning fluid. The drum is rotated with a rotation speed of 1430 rpm which is connected to a gear ratio of 1:30, so the rotation speed is smaller. The stirring arm is moved simultaneously with the movement of the drum. The rotating stirrer arm will provide a more dynamic movement so that the adhering soil will be removed from the surface of the sweet potato, as the washing water flows. The test results showed that the process of washing the sweet potatoes was successful, where the sweet potatoes that had dirt attached to them came off completely. The production capacity of the sweet potato washing machine is 50 kg, with a washing time of 5 minutes. The production cycle for a rotary system sweet potato washing machine is 15 minutes while manual washing is 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the productivity of rotary system washing sweet potatoes can reach 180 kg/hour. The production costs required for the equipment are IDR. 539,-/hour.

Abstract

This community service project aimed to provide a simple lighthouse solution in Maja Village, Kalianda, South Lampung. The primary issue faced by local fishermen was the lack of navigation guidance during nighttime sailing due to blocked light from residential houses by the coastal seawall. The proposed solution involved the construction of two solar-powered lighthouses, designed to provide sufficient brightness and withstand coastal environmental conditions. This activity was carried out through collaboration between students, village officials, and the community, following a method that included problem identification, product design formulation, lamp pole construction, and installation. The results demonstrated that both lighthouses functioned optimally in assisting fishermen’s navigation, improving safety, and supporting night fishing activities. Additionally, the use of solar energy introduced the community to the concept of sustainable renewable energy.

Abstract

A process called injection molding involves cooling molten plastic after it has been injected into a mold to create a finished product. Polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate (PETE), two basic ingredients used in plastic, are melted into a liquid and then injected into a mold. tests pertaining to the geometry of the molded product's shape and the mold's resistance at 150 °C. The mold material used in this study is aluminum 6061, and the techniques used are modeling and experimentation. The 6061-aluminum material has good temperature resistance and yields dimensional results, thickness, and shape that are almost identical to the design developed based on geometry features, which makes it suitable for use in the plastic injection process, according to the test findings.

Abstract

Penukar kalor berperan penting dalam sistem pengeringan biji kopi pada mesin pengering mekanik karena berfungsi memanaskan udara sebelum memasuki ruang pengering. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi kinerja dua penukar kalor tipe shell and tube aliran menyilang pada Mesin Pengering Kopi Pabrik Kopi Tulen dengan memvariasikan laju aliran massa udara. Penukar kalor 1 diuji pada laju aliran 0,0194–0,0732 kg/s, sedangkan Penukar kalor 2 diuji pada 0,0249–0,084 kg/s. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan laju aliran massa udara menurunkan temperatur udara keluar, meningkatkan laju perpindahan panas, serta menurunkan efektivitas penukar kalor. Temperatur udara keluar tertinggi pada Penukar kalor 1 mencapai 277 °C pada laju 0,0194 kg/s, sedangkan Penukar kalor 2 mencapai 316 °C pada laju 0,0249 kg/s. Tegangan gasifier optimum adalah 80 V karena menghasilkan rentang temperatur udara 50–100 °C yang sesuai untuk pengeringan kopi. Laju perpindahan panas maksimum tercatat sebesar 13.968 W pada Penukar kalor 1 (laju udara 0,0732 kg/s) dan 20.950 W pada Penukar kalor 2 (laju udara 0,0784 kg/s). Efektivitas tertinggi masing-masing penukar kalor adalah 39,24% dan 59,57%. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa variasi laju aliran udara sangat memengaruhi performa penukar kalor dan dapat digunakan sebagai dasar optimasi proses pengeringan kopi.
