Abstract

Natural rubber is a major industrial commodities of tropical crops that supports the national economy, espescially Indonesia. TSNR (Technically Specified Natural Rubber) is one of dominant products in the rubber exports market. This study is purposes to determine Indonesia’s level of competitiveness regarding TSNR exports and export performances of TSNR commodities in the Chinese market. Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA), and Constant Market Share (CMS) are three methods of analyzing the competitiveness and market share of TSNR. Results indicated that Indonesia’s RCA is 13.99 where RCA is >1 and Indonesia’s RSCA is 0.84 where RSCA > 0, meaning Indonesian exports are competitive in the Chinese market. But despite that fact, Indonesia's natural rubber market share tends to be weak with the export growth value of -0.08, commodity composition effect of -0.003048, market distribution effect of -0.000282 and competitiveness effect of -703,959.

Abstract

The problem of food sufficiency is a basic human need so that the availability of food for the people of Surabaya City must always be guaranteed. Law Number 7 of 1996 concerning Food, mandates that the government and the community are responsible for realizing Food Security. The Government organizes the regulation, guidance, control and supervision of sufficient food availability, both in quantity and quality and safety and nutritious, evenly distributed and affordable by the purchasing power of the people. The rate of increase in food demand is faster than the rate of increase in production capacity. Surabaya as a city of trade and services does not have sufficient agricultural land so that the supply of strategic commodities highly depends on supplies from outside the region which cause vulnerability to supply availability and price instability. Based on the description above, intensive monitoring of food price volatility in several markets and food wholesalers in the city of Surabaya is needed in order to maintain supply stability and price stability. One alternative to overcome the problems as above is with the development of the Supply Chain Management logistics city. In the long run according to the results that will be obtained in this study, it is expected to increase the role of PD. Pasar Surya in maintaining supply availability and price stability.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities in Indonesia still face significant challenges in achieving independence due to discriminatory views and limited access to various services, including assistive devices. In Surabaya City, with a substantial number of persons with disabilities, the Social Services Department of Surabaya City, through its social rehabilitation program, strives to improve their quality of life by distributing assistive devices. This program involves systematic stages, starting from receiving reports, conducting field surveys, measuring assistive devices, to distributing aid to recipients in need. The program successfully distributed various assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, and prosthetic limbs, with a total of 254 units during the writer's internship period (September 23 - December 31, 2024). As a result, recipients demonstrated significant improvements in independence, both in carrying out daily activities and in interacting with others. Additionally, the families of the recipients also experienced benefits in the form of reduced burdens, as family members who were previously fully dependent now have greater abilities to manage their own needs. This program is expected to continue to grow and provide further solutions to help build an inclusive and empowered society for persons with disabilities in Surabaya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the Rebound Effect (RE) in the context of the circular economy (CE). This study uses a narrative literature review to review and analyze scientific literature relevant to the topic of CER. Many approaches in CE are still dominated by an engineering perspective, namely seeing the world as a linear material flow system that can be transformed into a circular one without taking into account the complexity of the market and economy. Based on criticism and thoughts about the risks of the CE approach, a phenomenon called the Circular Economy Rebound (CER) emerged. CER occurs when circular activities, despite having a lower impact per unit, actually trigger an increase in total production and consumption, which ultimately reduces or even eliminates the expected environmental benefits. Based on the mapping of potential RE in CE, nine causes were found, while for the dimensions of CE implementation, 5 dimensions were found that cause RE both directly and indirectly. The method for measuring RE in CE found that RE can be measured at the micro, meso, macro and global aggregate levels with econometric techniques and Input-Output analysis.

Abstract

One of the commodities which play a role in the economy of Indonesia is Cocoa, as one of the largest cocoa producers in the world, every year Indonesia keeps giving its effort to fulfilling the demand of the market, including Germany. This article has the objective of analyzing the competitiveness of Indonesian processed cocoa in Germany and analyzing the export competitiveness of processed cocoa between Indonesia and Ivory Coast, Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands from 2014 to 2019. The data used are secondary data, obtained through various institutions such as the Indonesian National Agency for Statistics Center, International Trade Center (ITC), UN COMTRADE, and International Cocoa Organization (ICCO). In order to analyze the competitiveness of all processed cocoa commodities, the methodology used is Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). The result of the RCA calculation shows that all Indonesian processed cocoa commodities such as cocoa paste (HS 1803), cocoa butter (HS 1804), and cocoa powder (HS 1805) have a comparative advantage in the German market. The result of this analysis shows that cocoa powder commodity has a higher RCA score compared with the other processed cocoa products. The implication of the research is that the research was conducted as empirical support that cocoa processed commodities in Indonesia must be taken into account in order to compete in the German market. Indonesia must increase the export volume of its processed cocoa in order to increase the value of the domestic cocoa industry. This research is expected to provide input to the government so that it can provide assistance in the form of incentives to small cocoa entrepreneurs engaged in the export sector so that these entrepreneurs can reduce production costs and stabilize Indonesian cocoa prices.

Abstract
