Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the racial discrimination found in the first and second novels, to describe the similarities and differences of racial discrimination found in both novels and the application of character education values without racial discrimination. The type of research used is qualitative research using a comparative descriptive method. The data in this study are sentences that contain forms of discrimination. Sentences that contain racial discrimination are obtained through the utterances or utterances of the narrator, the utterances or utterances of the characters, and the actions of the characters in both novels. Data collection techniques using reading and note techniques. The data validation technique uses triangulation techniques. Data analysis techniques using descriptive techniques. The results of the study show that both novels have similarities and differences, there are three kinds of discrimination, namely ethnocentrism discrimination (attitudes comparing cultures), xenophobic discrimination (hate and dislike), stereotype discrimination (generalizing attitudes towards a group). The similarities between these two novels are the setting in which racial discrimination occurred during the colonial era and the victims of racial discrimination, namely the natives themselves. The difference between the two novels is the setting where racial discrimination occurs. The setting in the first novel is Indonesia, while the setting in the second novel is Congo, Africa. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion found 26 data.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan latar belakang terjadinya poligami, menjelaskan dampak dari poligami, dan memaparkan sikap tokoh perempuan dalam menghadapi poligami di dalam novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan karya Asma Nadia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, klausa, kalimat, narasi tentang tokoh, tuturan tentang tokoh dan tindakan tokoh pada cerita di dalam novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan karya Asma Nadia. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu membaca dan memahami novel, menandai hal-hal yang berhubungan dengan latar belakang terjadinya poligami, dampak dari poligami dan sikap tokoh perempuan dalam menghadapi poligami yang terdapat dalam novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan karya Asma Nadia, dan menginventarisasi data untuk mendapatkan data yang berhubungan dengan potret poligami. Teknik pengabsahan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uraian rinci. Teknik penganalisis data dalam penelitian ini ada empat, antara lain: membaca novel yang diteliti, mendeskripsikan data sesuai dengan rumusan masalah yang digunakan, menginterprestasikan data yang terkumpul, dan membuat kesimpulan dan hasil deskripsi format data. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan adalah: Latar belakang terjadinya poligami yang terbagi atas, (a) kebutuhan seksual, (b) istri pertama mandul, (c) istri kurang merawat diri, dan (d) keinginan menolong. Dampak dari poligami terbagi atas, (a) dampak positif, (b) dampak negatif. Sikap tokoh perempuan dalam menghadapi poligami di dalam novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan karya Asma Nadia terbagi atas: (a) sikap menerima dan (b) sikap menolak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) bentuk-bentuk kekerasan dalam novelHujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatra, (2) faktor penyebab kekerasan dalam novel Hujan dan Teduhkarya Wulan Dewatra, dan (3) dampak kekerasan dalam novel Hujan dan Teduh karya WulanDewatra. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sumber datapenelitian ini adalah novel Hujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatra. Langkah-langkah pengumpulandata penelitian ini yaitu: (1) membaca dan memahami novel Hujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatra,(2) melakukan studi kepustakaan yang berkaitan dengan masalah penelitian dan menguasaipermasalahan yang ada dalam novel Hujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatra, (3) mengidentifikasitokoh utama dan tambahan yang ada dalam novel Hujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatra, (4)mencari dan mencatat peristiwa yang berhubungan dengan potret kekerasan dalam novel Hujan danTeduh karya Wulan Dewatra, dan (5) menginventarisasi data potret kekerasan dalam novel Hujan danTeduh karya Wulan Dewatra. Teknik pengabsahan data yang digunakan adalah teknik triangulasi.Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa dalam novel Hujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatra terdapattiga bentuk potret kekerasan yaitu kekerasan fisik berupa ditampar, dicengkeram, dan diseret dengankasar, kekerasan psikologis berupa dibentak, diancam, dan dihina, dan kekerasan seksual berupapaksaan ciuman dan paksaan bersetubuh. Dalam novel ini juga ditemukan beberapa faktor penyebabkekerasan yaitu faktor budaya, faktor gaya hidup dan pergaulan bebas, dan faktor rendahnya kontrolmasyarakat. Dampak kekerasan yang ditemukan dalam novel Hujan dan Teduh karya Wulan Dewatraada empat yaitu dampak fisik, dampak psikologis, dampak sosial dan dampak seksual. Data dampakfisik yang ditemukan berupa cedera luka, lebam, dan hamil di luar nikah. Data dampak psikologisyang ditemukan berupa trauma, depresi, dan gangguan mental. Data dampak sosial yang ditemukanberupa sulit bersosialisasi dan rendah diri. Dan data dampak seksual yang ditemukan berupa cacatpermanen akibat aborsi

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) Physical and psychological portraits of Minangkabau women in Sutan Nasarudin's Siti Risani kaba, (2) Minangkabau women's role in the family in Sutan Nasarudin's Siti Risani kaba, (3) Minangkabau women's role in society in Sutan Nasarudin's kaba Siti Risani by Sutan Nasarudin. This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The source of the data in this research is Kaba Siti Risani by Sutan Nasarudin. The steps of collecting data in this research are: (1) reading and understanding the forms of portraits of Minangkabau women in Sutan Nasarudin's Siti Risani kaba, (2) conducting literature studies related to research problems in order to understand and master the problems discussed, (3 ) determine the main characters and additional characters in the kaba Siti Risani by Sutan Nasarudin, (4) identify and record the data used in this study. The data validation technique used is triangulation technique. The results of this study are: portraits of Minangkabau women in the Kaba Siti Risani by Sutan Nasarudin are divided into two, namely portraits of Minangkabau women physically and psychologically. The portrait of Minangkabau women physically consists of two, namely Minangkabau women who have beauty and tenderness, and women who are strong and graceful. As for the portrait of Minangkabau women psychologically, there are five aspects, namely women who are firm and gentle, polite, steadfast, diligent and tenacious, as well as sabra and compassion. The role of Minangkabau women in the family has three roles, namely the role as a wife, as a mother and child, and a role as a family member. The role of Minangkabau women in society is divided into two, namely as Limpapeh rumah nan gadang and as Bundo Kanduang.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: first the structure of the healing spell, the second the storytelling environment, the third function of the healing spell in Gates Village, Lubuk Begalung District, Padang City. This type of research is literary research using descriptive method. The data in this study are sentences that are healing spells in Gates Village, Lubuk Begalung District, Padang City. The data collected in this study were then analyzed by the following steps: (1) data collection stage, (2) data processing stage, (3) data classification or analysis stage, (4) conclusion stage of analysis results. There are three findings in this study. First, the structure of the spell is divided into three, namely opening, content, and closing. Second, the environment for telling the spell is divided into two main aspects, namely the aspects of supporting the reading of the mantra and the inheritance of the mantra. Third, based on function, found 4 functions of healing spells in the Gates Village. Based on these findings, it turns out that the healing mantra is still an oral literature that is highly trusted by the local community to treat diseases.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of multiple personalities, the factors causing the emergence of multiple personalities, and the impact of multiple personalities in the novel Misteri Alter Ego by Arin Daniswara. This research is literary research with a descriptive method. The data of this research are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, or sentences taken from dialogues and narrative quotes contained in the novel. The research instrument is the researcher herself, assisted by tables containing research indicators. The researcher as an instrument plays a role in analyzing the data obtained and interpreting the data. Data collection techniques are reading and understanding novels, conducting literature studies, determining characters, and finding and recording data found in novels. The data validation technique is the triangulation technique. Data analysis techniques, namely, classifying and analyzing data, interpreting data, and concluding data analysis. The results of the research are: (1) the form of the split personality the character Claire in the Misteri Alter Ego novel by Arin Daniswara is divided into two, namely the host and the evil personality. (2) the factors that cause the emergence of multiple personalities in Claire's character in the novel Misteri Alter Ego by Arin Daniswara consist of two factors, namely trauma from physical violence and trauma from sexual harassment. (3) the impact of the multiple personality traits of Claire in Arin Daniswara's Misteri Alter Ego novel includes partial amnesia, guilt, depression, and suicidal tendencies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of the ego defense mechanism in the novel Rapijali 2: Menjadi by Dee Lestari. This type of research is literary research using descriptive method. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, narration from the narrator, character utterances, and actions of characters related to the ego defense mechanism in the novel Rapjali 2: Being by Dee Lestari. The data collection techniques in this study were as follows: (1) conducting a literature study, (2) reading and understanding the novel, (3) marking the part of the novel that indicated the ego defense mechanism, (4) recording data related to the ego defense mechanism. , (5) identify the main characters and additional characters in the novel, and (6) take an inventory of the data found in the novel. There are four data analysis techniques in this study, namely: analyzing data on forms of ego defense mechanisms, interpreting data on forms of ego defense mechanisms, making conclusions about research results, and reporting research results. The research results obtained are: the form of ego defense mechanism in the novel Rapijali 2: Menjadi by Dee Lestari which is divided into, (a) repression, (b) projection, (c) diversion, (d) rationalization, (e) reaction formation, ( f) regression, and (g) aggression and apathy. Based on these findings, it turns out that the ego defense mechanism is a form of self-defense mechanism to overcome anxiety which is often used by characters in novels.

Abstract

Literary work is a place where the author can convey all his worries, both from within himself and from the surrounding environment. Through the novel Ikan Kecil by Ossy Firstan, a representation of autism is shown which can become new knowledge for some people who are still unfamiliar or taboo with autism. The type of research used in this research is literary research with a qualitative approach and descriptive method. The novel Ikan Kecil by Ossy Firstan presents forms of autism which can be recognized through the signs shown since the child was young, one of which is autistic disorder. The character Oleiro in the novel Ikan Kecil by Ossy Firstan has shown symptoms of autistic disorder since he was under one year old. These symptoms are increasingly visible along with the development and growth of the age of Oleiro's character. The impact caused by autism in the novel Ikan Kecil by Ossy Firstan with a family having autistic members is that there is an influence not only on the relationships among family members, but also on the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the exploitation of orphanage children in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen, which belongs to a form of social violence. There are two forms of exploitation of orphanage children, namely the employment of minors and the trafficking of children. This type of research is literary research with descriptive methods. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, narration from the narrator, the speeches of the characters, and the actions of the characters related to the exploitation of children. The data collection method uses the listening method with advanced techniques in the form of note taking techniques. Data analysis techniques with content analysis, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The data validation technique uses the triangulation technique. Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen highlighted cases of child exploitation that occurred in orphanages in the form of employing underage children, such as begging, selling, busking, and some even committing criminal acts. In addition, there is also child trafficking in the form of cheating children and cases of child kidnapping. This is of course related to the sociological theory of literary works, reflecting what it is because the author connects directly with cases of child exploitation that have occurred in Indonesia. Thus, the author's way of expressing his concern about the case, the author makes the perpetrators of violence as one of the story characters whose function is to convey the author's message to his readers. So that readers can be more sensitive as well as empathetic to problems that occur in the real life of society.

Abstract

This article aims to describe:(1) the forms of gender stereotypes for women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, (2) the causes of gender stereotypes for women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, and (3) the impact of gender stereotypes on women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. The type of research used is literary research with descriptive methods. The data source used in this study is the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. Based on the research conducted, it was found that there were 6 forms of labeling attached to women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. The stereotypes that are attached are, women are week, women are emotional, women are motherhood, women are managing household affairs, women are serving husband, and women are sex objects. Factors that cause gender stereotypes for women are social factors, and cultural factors. The impact of gender stereotypes on women is subordination, marginalization, violence and harassment, and workload.
