Abstract

Native people or ethnic societies that live in endemic malaria islands such as in Bangka Island and Belitung Island have used many medicinal plants to cure malaria. Leaves of kesembung (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn Roxb), roots of kebentak (Wikstroemia androsaemofolia Decne), and roots of medang mencena (Dapniphyllum laurinum (Benth) are the examples. This research was aimed to investigate the present of some biochemical compound and evaluate the antimalarial activity of ethanol extract of the plants against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 in vitro. The IC50 level was determined through visual observation under microscope over 5000 of giemsa-stained erythrocytes then analyzed by probit analysis. Results showed that kebentak root ethanol extract was effective to inhibit P. falciparum 3D7 with level 0.485 µg/mL. Furthermore, the IC50 level of kesembung leaves and medang root were 44.352 µg/mL and 1486.678 µg/mL respectively. Phytochemical test result showed that kebentak leaf ethanol crude extract contained triterpenoid, kesembung root contained phenol and tannins; moreover, medang root contained alkaloid, saponin, and triterpenoid.How to CiteHelmi, H., Afriyansyah, B. Abstract

Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) are bacteria involved in food fermentation processes and can be used as probiotics. This study aims to isolate, identify and determine the probiotic potential of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) at the end of the fermentation of local food on the island of Bangka and South Sumatra (aruk rice, anchovy sauce and tempoyak). Isolation and identification of lactic acid bacteria were carried out macroscopically, microscopically, biochemically and molecularly assays based on 16S rRNA. The probiotic potency of the isolates was tested based on their resistance to acid and antibacterial activity. LAB that plays a role in the process of making aruk rice is Lactobacillus plantarum with rod-shaped characteristics, gram positive, does not have the catalase enzyme, is able to ferment glucose into acid, is able to ferment lactose and sucrose, does not move, is resistant to acids and has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

The improvement of egg production efficiency and health remains a challenge in the cultivation of native chickens. The production of feed on farms requires significant costs, which can account for 60-70% of the total production expenses, making it essential to optimize feed efficiency in the chicken's digestive system. Furthermore, the traditional free-range farming of native chickens Merawang in Bangka Belitung, where they are allowed to roam freely in the backyard or garden, makes it difficult to control their development and health. To address these issues, efforts can be made by harnessing the potential of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) present in the digestive system of native chickens to be used as probiotics. The objective of this research was to obtain potential isolates of lactic acid bacteria from native chickens Merawang as probiotic candidates. The study was carried out experimentally in four stages, namely isolation, characterization, confirmation test, and probiotic potential test. The research results indicate that there were 6 isolates with potential as probiotics, namely AM3, AM7, AM12, AM14, AM20, and AM25. These six isolates showed potential as probiotic bacteria because their lactic acid content in a medium meets the applicable standards, ranging from 0.79% to 1.84%. The isolates that performed the best as candidate probiotic bacteria were AM14, AM20, and AM25. The identified bacteria in the digestive system of native chickens belong to the Genus Lactobacillus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan starter bakteri tunggal Bacillus subtilis dan Lactobacillus plantarum terhadap kalsium oksalat, glukomanan, uji proksimat (kadar air, kadar abu, kadar lemak, kadar protein, dan kadar karbohidrat) dan kualitas tepung secara hedonik. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan yaitu 0%, B.subtilis 20%, B.subtilis 25%, L.plantarum 20%, dan L.plantarum 25%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan tepung porang dengan penambahan starter bakteri B.subtilis dan L.plantarum menunjukkan terjadinya penurunan pH, kenaikan Total Asam Tertitrasi (TAT), dan kenaikan populasi bakteri bakteri aerob dan Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL) pada seluruh perlakuan pada hari ke-0 hingga hari ke-2 dan cenderung mengalami kenaikan pH, dan penurunan TAT, dan penurunan populasi bakteri pada hari ke-3. Tepung porang dengan penambahan starter bakteri B.subtilis lebih baik dalam menurunkan kadar kalsium oksalat. Namun, kandungan glukomanan relatif sama pada setiap perlakuan. Tepung porang dengan penambahan starter bakteri B.subtilis lebih baik dalam menurunkan kadar air, kadar abu,dan kadar protein sedangkan penambahan starter bakteri L.plantarum lebih baik dalam menurunkan kadar karbohidrat. Kandungan kadar lemak pada setiap perlakuan relatif sama. Penambahan bakteri pada pembuatan tepung porang cenderung tidak mempengaruhi rendeman dan kualitas yang ditinjau dari warna, rasa, aroma, dan tekstur.

Abstract

Agarwood is a kind of fragrant wood which used as raw material in parfume industry, cosmetics, and medicine. Agarwood was formed by infected of fungy to several species from plant of genus Acquillaria. Farmer groups (Gapoktan Alam Jaya Lestari and Poktan Air Pasir Maju) are partners involved in this program. Both of these farmers groups had problems in availability of inoculant and the expensive price of inoculant. Besides, group farmers havenot known well of inoculatuion techniques. This program was conducted by Participation Action Researh (PAR). Fungi inoculant propagation were practiced in a simple way using potato and sugar as raw materials. Both of partners were very passionate on inoculant training activities, even farmers wanted to try to make inoculants of various materials which avalaible at their sourrounding. On the inoculation techniques, spiral method using both liquid and powders inoculants were injected to gaharu plant. Farmers were trained drafting technique as alternative product of agarwood such as tasbeeh. In addition, farmers trained to calculate a profit of agarwood product. To be independent farmer group, Poktan Air Pasir Maju still needs to be trained further because of their strong willingness to develop agarwood but still lacking skill.

Abstract

Shopping center is one of the densest areas of human activity, so that the gathering of humans can cause transmission of microorganisms that cause air borne disease. This research was conducted to find out the various types of air pollutant bacteria and fungi on the 2nd Floor of One of the Shopping Center Areas in Pangkal Pinang City. This research was conducted experimentally using Nutrien Agar and Potato Dextrose Agar media for enumeration of bacteria and fungi. Identification of bacteria and fungi was carried out macroscopically, microscopically and biochemically. The results of this study showed that there were 9 bacterial isolates and 4 fungal isolates. The genus of bacteria found is Bacillus sp. Staphylococcus sp. and Nitrobacter sp. As for the genus of fungi found, among others, namely Aspergillus sp. The total bacteria and fungi present in the air in the shopping center have not exceeded the quality standards that have been set, so that it can be said that the air in one of the Pangkal Pinang City Shopping Centers is still healthy

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan perbaikan mutu bibit dan pupuk organik swakelola bertujuan memberikan solusi atas permasalahan dalam mengelola sampah. Solusi yang ditawarkan berupa menerapkan teknologi informasi sebagai perangkat publikasi, sosialisasi yang dilakukan secara masif kepada masyarakat dengan aplikasi edu-environment akan memberikan kemudahan informasi bagi warga untuk selalu mengelola sampah dengan baik. Perancangan teknologi informasi ini diharapkan dapat membantu permasalahan yang terdapat di masyarakat dan mengelola sampah serta menerapkan metode teknologi informasi agar memudahkan masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah tersebut. Kegiatan PKM ini dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2022 di Kelurahan Kebun Bunga Kec. Sukarami Kota Palembang. Metode yang digunakan berupa penyuluhan dan pelatihan dan menggunakan metode mix Method. Adapun tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian, yaitu penyuluhan aplikasi, pelatihan. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM berupa pelatihan pengelolaan sampah melalui aplikasi Edu-Environment di Kelurahan kebun Bunga Kec. Sukarami Kota Palembang, disimpulkan bahwa untuk pengelolaan sampah dengan melalui aplikasi Edu-Environment ini dapat membawa peningkatan pada masyarakat dan tentunya memberikan pemanfaatan dalam mengelola sampah dan membuat sebuah aplikasi yang bisa digunakan dan di terapkan di masyarakat

Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus oncophylus) tubers are one of the export commodities due to their glucomannan content. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of water fermentation and the quality of porang fermented flour with the addition of Lactobacillus plantarum (LP), Bacillus subtilis (BS), and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (SC). Fermentation was conducted using four treatments, namely LP+BS, LP+SC, BS+SC which consisted of 10%v/v of inoculum, respectively, and LP+BS+SC which consisted of 7%v/v LP, 7% BSv/v, and 6%SCv/v. During fermentation, pH, total acidity, and total microorganisms were observed. Proximate, glucomannan content, starch content, fiber content, and antibacterial and prebiotics characteristics were observed for fermented porang flour. The results showed that pH decreased while total acidity increased during fermentation. Total aerobic bacteria had the highest population at 24 hours of fermentation while lactic acid bacteria had the highest population at 24- and 48-hour fermentation. Yeast reached the highest population at 72 hours of fermentation. Porang fermented flour with the addition of BS+SC contained the highest glucomannan content, carbohydrate, and fiber content. Moreover, the flour with BS+SC had an antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and supported the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus. Porang fermented flour which is processed with the addition of a mixed culture of BS and SC can be developed to improve the nutrititional and functional properties of porang flour.

Abstract

Community development is an effort to improve the quality of social life in society. Quality improvement is also an inseparable part of regional development. This research aims to determine the potential of the transmigrant population in the context of smart people in the Mandiri Integrated City area of Sungai Rambutan and Parit. This research uses mixed methods with a research focus on digital education and community creativity. The research results show that the transmigrant community does not meet the criteria for being smart people. This is in accordance with survey data that the digital education variable with the digital mastery indicator of 78% is not met and the openness indicator of 66% is not met. Meanwhile, for the flexible indicator skills variable, 70% were not met, 76% were satisfied with the desire to develop, 82% were met for ethnic and social plurality, and 77% were fulfilled for participation in life together. The results of the research can be concluded that there are still problems with KTM Sungai Rambutan-Parit being able to become a smart people area.Pembangunan masyarakat merupakan salah satu upaya peningkatan kualitas hidup sosial di masyarakat. Peningkatan kualitas juga merupakan bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari pembangunan wilayah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi penduduk transmigran dalam konteks smart people di kawasan Kota Terpadu Mandiri Sungai Rambutan dan Parit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran dengan fokus penelitian pada edukasi digital dan kreatifitas masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa masyarakat transmigran belum memenuhi kriteria sebagai smart people. Hal ini sesuai dari data survey bahwa variabel edukasi digital dengan indikator penguasaan digital 78% tidak terpenuhi dan indicator keterbukaan 66% tidak terpenuhi. Sedangkan pada variabel keterampilan indikator fleksibel 70% tidak terpenuhi, keinginan untuk berkembang 76%, pluralitas etnik dan sosial 82% terpenuhi, dan partisipasi dalam kehidupan bersama 77% terpenuhi. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa masih terdapat permasalahan pada KTM Sungai Rambutan-Parit untuk dapat menjadi kawasan yang smart people

Abstract

The community service program, Mentoring the Instillation of Javanese Cultural and Art Values in Transmigrant Children at the Sanggar Berdaya Desa Margotani II, aims to overcome the declining understanding of Javanese culture and art among transmigrant children. This activity involved 26 transmigrant children who were Sanggar Berdaya Desa Margotani II students. This activity was carried out using the lecture, question and answer, and direct practice methods with participants. The stages of this activity include the presentation of material using the lecture method on the history of the transmigration program, the variety of Javanese culture and art, traditional games, and tourism. The next stage is a question and answer session with participants to strengthen their knowledge and understanding. The community service team also handed over technological innovation aids to the community through the Kawruh Basa Jawa book and a mini Saron musical instrument used during the practice. The next activity was the practice of reading and writing Javanese script, the practice of traditional Javanese dance, and traditional Javanese games. The results of this program showed an increase in participants' knowledge and enthusiasm for Javanese culture and art. It can be concluded that this program contributes to the sustainability of Javanese cultural and arts learning for future generations, while also demonstrating the potential of community-based learning centres in building cultural resilience and strengthening social cohesion in transmigrant environments. to increase cultural appreciation, preserving Javanese cultural heritage, and enhance social harmony in transmigrant communities.ABSTRAKProgram pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertajuk Pendampingan Penanaman Nilai Budaya dan Seni Jawa pada Anak Transmigran di Sanggar Belajar Ndeso Berdaya, Desa Margotani II bertujuan untuk mengatasi menurunnya pemahaman budaya dan seni Jawa pada anak-anak transmigran. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 26 anak transmigran yang merupakan warga belajar Sanggar Berdaya Desa Margotani II. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, dan praktik langsung dengan peserta. Tahapan kegiatan ini meliputi pemaparan materi dengan metode ceramah tentang sejarah program transmigrasi, ragam budaya dan kesenian Jawa, permainan tradisional serta kepariwisataan. Tahapan selanjutnya adalah tanya jawab kepada peserta untuk memperkuat pengetahuan dan pemahamannya. Tim pengabdian juga menyerahkan alat bantu inovasi teknologi kepada masyarakat berupa buku Kawruh Basa Jawa dan alat musik saron mini yang digunakan pada saat praktik. Kegiatan selanjutnya adalah praktik membaca dan menulis aksara Jawa, praktik seni tari tradisional Jawa, dan permainan tradisional Jawa. Hasil program ini menunjukkan bertambahnya pengetahuan dan antusiasme peserta terhadap budaya dan seni Jawa. Dapat disimpulkan, program ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap keberlanjutan pembelajaran budaya dan seni Jawa bagi generasi mendatang, sekaligus menunjukkan potensi sanggar belajar berbasis komunitas dalam membangun ketahanan budaya dan memperkuat kohesi sosial di lingkungan transmigran. untuk meningkatkan apresiasi budaya, melestarikan warisan budaya Jawa, serta memperkuat harmoni sosial di komunitas transmigran.
