Abstract

Abstract

Abstract : This paper aims to describe the basic concepts of the audio-lingual approach, to describe the underlying theories, to describe its implementation in the 2013 curriculum through a concept map, and to explain the implementation of the audio-lingual approach in learning Arabic in the 2013 curriculum and its advantages and disadvantages in a qualitative descriptive way in which the author explores the work of -Scientific works related to the theme. The results show that an audio-lingual approach is an approach that emphasizes the study and description of a language to be studied by starting with the sound system (phonology), then the word-formation system (morphology), and the sentence formation system (syntax). Linguistically, this approach is based on the structuralism school of Ferdinand de Saussure who believes that language is spoken. Meanwhile, psychologically, this approach is adopted from the flow of behaviorism which assumes that learning is a relationship between stimulus and response. The concept map designed to describe the overall discussion of this research has implications for the application of the audio-lingual approach in the six elements of the curriculum. These elements include objectives, materials, methods, activities, media, and assessment of Arabic learning based on an audio-lingual approach.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Al-Mumtaz Textbook in teaching Arabic to non-specialist (non-Arab) learners from philosophical, theoretical, and practical perspectives, and to analyze its contribution to the development of the four main language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. The primary data were obtained through documentation and content analysis of Al-Mumtaz Textbook, which is used in Arabic language instruction for non-native speakers. The population of this study includes the entire content of Al-Mumtaz Textbook, which comprises several volumes and is widely used in various educational institutions in Indonesia, particularly at the elementary and non-formal education levels. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, focusing on the first and second volumes that beginners commonly use. The sample consists of sections of the book containing language skill exercises and their instructional presentation. Data was collected through documentation. Data analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method, based on the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Al-Mumtaz Textbook significantly contributes to the gradual and contextual development of students' language skills. Its communicative approach and real-life-based exercises have also proven effective in increasing students’ confidence in using Arabic. Therefore, this book is considered a valuable primary reference for Arabic language instruction for non-specialist learners at various educational levels.

Abstract

Nowadays, the problems of the field of education are getting wider and more tragic. The root cause of those problems is moral decadence caused by a dichotomous morality. It means that there is a difference, separation, and contradiction between religion and science. Morality is a moral system that exists in ideas, attitudes, and human activities. An integrative morality paradigm based on religion and natural law is necessary to avoid a dichotomy between the two. This study is a literature study using a descriptive-qualitative approach. This study shows that the new paradigm considered relevant is an integrative paradigm of morality between religion and science, which leads to an integrative morality in the form of moral systems. The idea, attitude, and human activity are built on an integrative morality through a dialectical approach. Religion and science are like two sides of a coin that cannot be separated. There is also a similar relationship between religion and morality and between morality and science. Humans learn from sunnatullah through observations, experiments, explorations, and elaboration, then present and discover science. At the same time, morality is based on human nature itself. In conclusion, an integrative morality paradigm can integrate religious and scientific understanding to avoid a dichotomy between religion and science.
