Abstract

A healthy canteen is one of the supporting elements of healthy campus infrastructure. Leaders' policies, engagement, and support are essential for healthy campus initiation advocacy initiatives. This qualitative case study approach aims to determine the possibility of implementing a healthy canteen in a private university. The study was conducted in Yogyakarta from July 2017 until March 2018 with informants sequentially from five university leaders, one canteen manager, ten canteen consumers, and including 15 food handlers. We collected data through in-depth interviews and then analyzed it with content analysis. Finally, we use the SWOT matrix to investigate the possibility of developing a healthy canteen at private colleges using strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The obstacle to developing healthy canteens is the limited area for infrastructure. We found environmental health problems, such as unqualified sanitary conditions and unapplied food hygiene and sanitation principles. Healthy canteen could be developed if the leaders at all levels committed to allocating spaces and sanitation infrastructure, making policies and regulations for testing the food in laboratories, training and inspecting food handlers regularly and providing quality foodstuffs, clean and healthy nutritious food, and educating customers with posters on the canteen walls.

We found that communicators socialize the Jogo Tonggo program in Gumelem Kulon Village RW 03 by sending messages through WhatsApp groups. The messages conveyed included an invitation to help neighbors who are self isolation, providing support and not isolating them, as well as recommendations to continue to obey health protocols. The media used to socialize the Jogo Tonggo program, namely whats app social media, posters and billboards are only provided at the village hall and oral communication. The recipients of the Jogo Tonggo message are all people in Gumelem Kulon Village, especially in RW 03. The impact that occurs after residents receive the message, residents are willing to help the daily needs of self isolation families. Barriers to implementing the Jogo Tonggo program are the lack of communication between families who are self isolation to the RT/RW and messages that are not followed bypreventive measures because there are still residents who do not comply with health protocols. Communication and coordination carried out in Gumelem Kulon Village is unfully optimal yet. The media used is not evenly distributed and is not updated regularly

Abstract

The number of users of social media in Indonesia has the potential to control global epidemiological problems including obesity. Does the group formed on social media, that consists of people who do not know each other, but because of the similarity of interest in losing weight, will help increase the motivation of the group members? The purpose of this study was to find a relationship between friend sup- port on social media with increased motivation in weight loss. This research is descriptive analytic, with cross sectional design. A sample of 110 people was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was adopted from the Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire (TSRQ) and the Ballatine questionnaire. The results showed 88.2% of respondents were women, 85.5% were aged 20-40 years, most were housewives (50.9%), the period of joining groups on social media between 1-4 months (45.5%). About 49.1% of respon- dents felt strongly supported and motivated by members in fellow groups on social media. The statistical test results show that there is a relationship between social support and motivation for weight loss (pValue 0.019). This study shows that groups on social media can help maintain the motivation of their members to carry out a diet. It is recommended that health promotion personnel to use social media as an alternative to disseminating health program information.
