Abstract

Critical thinking skills dan sustainability awareness merupakan kompetensi penting untuk menghadapi tantangan masa depan, namun realitas di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kedua kompetensi tersebut masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berbasis Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) terhadap critical thinking skills dan sustainability awareness peserta didik pada materi ekosistem. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Padang Cermin tahun ajaran 2024/2025, dengan sampel kelas X3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X9 sebagai kelas kontrol yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes pretest–posttest untuk mengukur critical thinking skills dan angket untuk mengukur sustainability awareness. Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan model inkuiri terbimbing berbasis ESD, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan model discovery learning. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa model inkuiri terbimbing berbasis ESD berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan critical thinking skills dengan nilai effect size sebesar 1,086 (kategori besar), dengan peningkatan tertinggi pada indikator basic clarification. Pada aspek sustainability awareness, peningkatan tertinggi terjadi pada indikator kesadaran emosional. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model inkuiri terbimbing berbasis ESD efektif dalam meningkatkan critical thinking skills dan sustainability awareness peserta didik, khususnya pada materi ekosistem.

Abstract

Pengaruh Pembelajaran PjBL Terintegrasi STEM Terhadap Kemampuan HOTS dan Kolaborasi Peserta Didik pada Materi Bioteknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran PjBL terintegrasi dengan STEM terhadap kemampuan HOTS dan kolaborasi peserta didik materi bioteknologi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 58 peserta didik terdiri dari kelas IX.7 (kontrol) dan IX.9 (eksperimen) dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan pembelajaran PjBL terintegrasi STEM, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan metode diskusi dengan pendekatan saintifik. Data kemampuan HOTS didapatkan dari hasil pretest-posttest yang dianalisis menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-test dengan bantuan program SPSS Statistic Version 27 pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 didapatkan nilai Sig. (2 -tailed) 0,001 < 0,05 maka H1 diterima. Hasil uji pengaruh (effect size) sebesar 1,21 dengan kriteria “Tinggi” yang berarti pembelajaran PjBL terintegrasi STEM berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kemampuan HOTS. Sedangkan data kemampuan kolaborasi diperoleh dari hasil perhitungan lembar observasi peserta didik, didapatkan hasil peserta didik kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dengan persentase 81,7% kategori “Sangat Baik” dibandingkan kelas kontrol dengan persentase sebesar 73,1% kategori “Baik”. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran PjBL terintegrasi dengan STEM berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kemampuan HOTS dan berpengaruh terhadap kolaborasi peserta didik materi bioteknologi.

Abstract

Pre-service teachers (PSTs) are expected to have the ability to engage in mitigating various ecological difficulties in the future thanks to their abilities in critical analysis. Critical thinking (CT) is influenced by various factors. However, not much in-depth research has been conducted on CT skills in previous studies. This study evaluated PSTs’ CT abilities based on GPA, gender, and grade level. In this quantitative descriptive research, 265 PSTs from various institutions in Java, Indonesia participated. An ecological essay test was used to collect data, and descriptive statistics and the Kruskal Wallis test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that PSTs' CT skills were in the medium category ( = 45.12), with the interpretation component getting the highest score ( = 51.64) and the inference aspect getting the lowest score ( = 33.96). The findings of this study also showed statistically significant differences in CT skills based on GPA, gender, and grade level. Better CT skills are found in PSTs who have a high GPA, are female, and are in 5th grade. This finding may have an impact on improving lecture programs so that PSTs' CT skills improve more effectively.

Abstract

The nyeruit tradition is a cultural practice of the Lampung people that utilises tempoyak as an accompaniment to local dishes. This study aims to examine the scientific concepts involved in the production of tempoyak and its potential as a resource for science education based on ethnoscience. The methodology employed was qualitative descriptive research, utilising interviews and a distribution of questionnaires. The results of the study indicate that the tempoyak production process involves fermentation by microorganisms, which causes physical and chemical changes in the durian. These concepts relate to biotechnology, microbiology, and changes in substances within the natural sciences. This study demonstrates that tempoyak production can be utilised as a contextual learning resource whilst introducing the local wisdom of the Lampung community to students.

Abstract

Piper betle is a plant that has long been utilized by the indigenous Lampung community in the nginang tradition to maintain oral and dental health. This study aimed to describe the use of betel leaves as a natural antibacterial agent in the nginang tradition of the Lampung indigenous community and to examine its potential as an ethnoscience-based science learning resource. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnobotanical approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with one traditional leader, five betel leaf users, and three junior high school science teachers selected purposively. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that betel leaves are used to treat various oral health problems, including bad breath, toothache, swollen gums, bleeding gums, and mouth ulcers, either by gargling with boiled betel leaf water or by chewing the leaves directly. This practice is supported by the presence of active compounds that exhibit antibacterial activity against bacteria causing oral health disorders. The evaluation by science teachers indicated that the use of betel leaves in the nginang tradition has strong relevance for integration into ethnoscience-based science learning because it connects local knowledge with scientific concepts in a contextual manner and supports the preservation of the local wisdom of the Lampung community.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the fermentation process of bekasam as a culinary identity of the Kota Agung community in Lampung, which forms part of Lampung culture, whilst linking it to the Phase D Conventional Biotechnology module as a reference source. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and a literature review. The results of the study indicate that bekasam is a traditional fish fermentation product made from simple ingredients such as fish, salt, and a carbohydrate source, and involves the activity of lactic acid bacteria under anaerobic conditions. This process results in a decrease in pH, the formation of a characteristic sour aroma and taste, the inhibition of spoilage microorganisms, and an increase in the product’s shelf life. In addition to its nutritional and cultural value, bekasam also has potential as a source of ethnoscience-based science education as it is closely linked to community life and can easily be related to conventional biotechnology concepts. Thus, bekasam can be utilised as a contextual learning medium that supports students’ understanding of biotechnology applications in their local environment and strengthens their appreciation of Lampung’s local wisdom.
