Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to develop ELENA, an Android learning application to promote independent learning and advance student writing abilities specifically regarding letters and announcements. The researcher utilized the Research and Development methodology to build the application, following Maribe Branch’s ADDIE model of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation during the creation process. The intended users were 11th grade students at SMK Ar-Rahman Peterongan Jombang. Data collection involved interviews and questionnaires. Expert media evaluation indicated a 97.91% suitability score, meaning the application provided an interesting and interactive platform to learn English. The material expert’s 87.5% score confirmed appropriate educational content for the learning objectives. The 87.7% implementation score showed increased student engagement and activity applying letter and announcement writing skills. Students were more motivated to write in English on those topics while using the technology. Final assessment demonstrated the application’s success at elevating writing proficiency in the target formats of letters and announcements for the participant group based on the metrics utilized in the study. In summary, this customized mobile learning solution enabled independent study and led to measurable writing gains related to the specified skills of letters and announcements for the sample 11th grade vocational high school students. KEYWORDS: Learning Media; ELENA; Writing; Letters and Announcements; Senior High School.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan ELENA, sebuah aplikasi pembelajaran berbasis ICT yang dirancang untuk mempromosikan pembelajaran mandiri dan meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa, khususnya dalam menulis surat dan pengumuman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi Penelitian dan Pengembangan, mengikuti model ADDIE dari Maribe Branch yang mencakup analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi dalam proses pembuatannya. Aplikasi ini ditujukan untuk siswa kelas XI di SMK Ar-Rahman Peterongan Jombang. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan kuesioner. Evaluasi oleh ahli media menunjukkan skor kesesuaian sebesar 97,91%, yang mengindikasikan bahwa aplikasi ini menawarkan platform yang menarik dan interaktif untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Skor 87,5% dari ahli materi menunjukkan bahwa konten edukasi yang disediakan sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran. Skor implementasi sebesar 87,7% menunjukkan peningkatan keterlibatan dan aktivitas siswa dalam menerapkan keterampilan menulis surat dan pengumuman. Siswa lebih termotivasi untuk menulis dalam bahasa Inggris mengenai topik-topik tersebut saat menggunakan aplikasi ini. Penilaian akhir menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi ini berhasil meningkatkan kemahiran menulis siswa dalam format surat dan pengumuman sesuai dengan metrik yang digunakan dalam penelitian. Secara keseluruhan, solusi pembelajaran mobile yang disesuaikan ini memungkinkan pembelajaran mandiri dan memberikan peningkatan kemampuan menulis yang terukur dalam keterampilan surat dan pengumuman bagi siswa kelas XI di sekolah menengah kejuruan. Abstract

This research aims to describe the conversational implicatures in the film Mangkujiwo by Azhar Kinoi Lubis. This study was motivated by the large number of fans and viewers of this film. In this film, there are many conversations that contain implicatures, either in the form of sarcasm or criticism. In this research, researchers used a pragmatic approach. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data used in this research is the conversation in the film Mangkujiwo by Azhar Kinoi Lubis. The results of this research on the data obtained, found 10 data containing implicatures, 9 data containing implicatures which are satirical sentences, and 1 data which is a critical sentence.Keywords: Conversational implicature, Mangkujiwo film by Azhar Kinoi Lubis.

Abstract

The need for a village website is increasingly urgent in the digital era, especially as a tool to manage various aspects of village life more effectively. As a government unit that plays an important role in serving the community, villages need a platform that is transparent, easily accessible, and reliable. This community service program aims to optimize the website of Made Village, Jombang, so that it can function as an effective and efficient information system. Through a series of activities such as interface design improvement, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) optimization, and training for website managers, the Made Village website is expected to become a more attractive, informative, and useful promotional media. The approach used in this program is *Community Based Participatory Research* (CBPR), which emphasizes close collaboration between researchers and village communities. This approach involves the active participation of village communities in every stage of activities, from planning to evaluation, so that they have a strong sense of ownership of the results. This participation not only strengthens collaboration, but also encourages communities to be more involved in their village's digital transformation. The results of the program showed an increase in the number of website visitors and user interactions. In addition, this program has succeeded in increasing community awareness of the importance of information technology. It is hoped that the optimization of the village website will not only encourage local economic development through the promotion of products and tourism, but also strengthen the identity of the Made Village community. Through a participatory approach, this program contributes to broader and sustainable social change

Abstract

This study aims to explore the strategies used by teachers in the classroom, identify the obstacles they face, and the solutions they use to overcome these obstacles. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of collecting, processing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was maintained through several techniques, namely: 1). careful observation; 2). extended research time; 3). triangulation. The conclusions of this research are: 1) Fiqh teachers use strategies that improve student achievement, such as strategies in opening and closing lessons, classroom management, delivery of materials, providing reinforcement, use of methods, and evaluation; 2). The obstacles they face include difficulties in classroom management due to a lack of interaction between teachers and students, teachers' readiness in the learning process, teachers' understanding of students' characteristics, students' lack of understanding of Fiqh, and limited learning resources; 3). The efforts made by teachers to overcome these obstacles include improving interaction with students.

Abstract

This study aims to design MRELISH (Mukhlisoh Reading English) based on ICT, to improve the tenth-grade Vocational High School students’ interest in English learning, especially reading skill. This study used Research & Development (RND) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. In the Analyze phase, the researchers used two instruments, those are interviews and questionnaires. The results from interview data stated that MRELISH English teachers approved MRELISH media to be designed and developed. while the results of the students’ questionnaire stated that 69% of the total number of students agreed that MRELISH media was developed and applied in their English learning. In the Development and Implementation phases, the researchers used some instruments to collect data: interviews, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The result of questionnaires from the material validation was 82% in the “very good” category and the result of the media validation was 92% in the “very good” category. After being implemented to students, the final result of the implementation was 84% which was categorized as “very good”. Based on those results, it can be concluded that MRELISH (Mukhlisoh Reading English) application was suitable to use in English learning to improve student’s reading skills in Vocational High School.

Abstract

Education has an important role in shaping the next generation of the nation, and one important factor is the use of learning media. Learning media such as wall magazines (mading) can help students understand lesson material more effectively. This community service program aims to: 1. increase interest in reading, 2. know, understand and increase vocabulary in Indonesian, English and Arabic. 3. increase students' motivation in the learning process so that they are more enthusiastic in learning. The target audience is 58 students from SDN Made consisting of 33 grade 5 students and 25 grade 6 students. This activity will be held on August 13, 2024. The method used in implementing this community service activity is Learning-Service, a teaching approach that emphasizes practical aspects that refer to the concept of applying lecture knowledge in the midst of society or communities and becoming a solution to problems faced by society, communities, and community institutions. The three stages carried out in implementing this program are preparation, implementation and evaluation. The results obtained by partners after participating in this implementation activity are knowledge about wall magazine-based learning media and the acquisition of new vocabulary including Indonesian, Arabic and English. This application is expected to motivate and facilitate students in the learning process and create a more enjoyable learning atmosphere.

Abstract

Background. Facing the Qibla is a requirement for valid prayer. There is an issue of shifting the direction of the Qibla in Indonesian mosques due to an earthquake. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) held a hearing and issued a fatwa. The fatwa caused public unrest because it did not comply with the agreement of experts in the science of Falak and Astronomy. Aim. This article aims to straighten out the controversy over the direction of the Qibla which appears to have shifted due to an earthquake and provide solutions to resolve problems related to changes in the direction of the qibla in mosques in Indonesia. Methods. Literature study takes data from primary data sources (Lajnah Falakiyah, Falak experts, books by classical and contemporary ‘ulemas that specifically discuss the Qibla), and; secondary data sources (books, journals, and notes that are relevant to the study of the Qibla). The data are analyzed using content analysis to make inferences objectively and systematically. Results. The shifting of the earth’s plates only affects changes in the earth’s map in a time span of tens or hundreds of millions of years, and will not have a significant impact on changes in the direction of the Qibla outside Makkah in the span of current human civilization.

Abstract

Pegon serves as an Islamic literacy bridge, facilitating the integration of local culture and Islamic teachings. It preserves the local language while strengthening religious values within the community. The objective of this community service program is to introduce Islamic literacy to students at the TPQ in Made Village through training in Pegon script writing. It is hoped that this will increase their understanding of Islamic cultural heritage and develop literacy skills that focus on Islamic values. The methodology employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which is oriented towards community empowerment through the active participation of students from three TPQs in Made Village: TPQ Al-Fathani, TPQ Al-Ikhlas, and TPQ Nurul Iman. The training proved effective in enhancing the students' comprehension of the Pegon script and facilitating a more profound understanding of Islamic literacy. The students' enthusiasm was palpable during the training sessions, particularly during the question-and-answer periods and the interactive discussions, during which they proactively sought clarification and demonstrated a keen interest in practicing writing in the Pegon script. Furthermore, the TPQ teachers provided comprehensive assistance, which was crucial to the successful implementation of the activities. This support fostered a collaborative learning environment and contributed to the program's success. Reviving Pegon literacy through this type of training is crucial. It not only preserves the cultural heritage of Islam in the archipelago but also enhances religious literacy within a pertinent local context. The program significantly reinforces the identity of Muslims in Indonesia by ensuring the maintenance and advancement of religious and cultural values through Pegon literacy in Islamic educational settings.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop ICT (Information and Communication Technology) based educational media in the field of agribusiness for use with high school students. Given the ongoing decline in student interest in the agricultural sector, this research aims to develop an attractive, informative, and technologically advanced media platform that will engage and educate young people about this important field. The methodology employed is that of research and development (R&D), utilizing the ADDIE model, which comprises five stages: The phases of the research process are as follows: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected via questionnaires, expert validation, and trials involving students and teachers. The results demonstrated that the developed media exhibited a high degree of validity, with material validation scores reaching 91% and media validation reaching 88%. These findings indicate substantial approval from experts and users. The ICT-based media successfully incorporates interactive elements and multimedia content, thereby facilitating comprehension of agribusiness concepts and enhancing their appeal to students. The findings indicate that this media has the potential to serve as an effective instrument for fostering student interest in agribusiness and enhancing the quality of education in this domain. Further refinements are recommended to optimize the effectiveness of the media and enhance user engagement.

Abstract

This research aims at developing a learning media which called English Digital Book as English learning media for Tenth grade students of Senior High School. This English Digital Book consists of some materials and exercises which is appropriate and feasible to be studied for students. All materials in this media are based on senior high school syllabus of K13 curriculum. The research method used in this research is Research and Development. This development used ADDIE model which have several steps, those are; 1) analysis, 2) design, 3) development, 4) Implementation, and 5) evaluation. The result of this research shows that from the media validation result got 92 score it was in “very good” category, and the material validation got 95 score it was in “very good” category. The students’ responses of try out result 87 was in “very good category”. By having those result, this English Digital Book is feasible to be used as a learning media for Tenth grade students. Furthermore this research can be used as reference to other researcher in developing English learning media in different level of students.
