Abstract

Flooding due to stagnant water accumulation often occurs when rainfall exceeds the drainage system's capacity or when the soil cannot absorb water quickly enough. One effective solution to address this issue is to enhance the soil's infiltration capacity through biopore technology. By installing biopores, communities can significantly reduce surface water accumulation, especially after heavy rains. This community service initiative aims to raise awareness and promote active involvement in environmental care among residents. Additionally, the program focuses on educating the community about the benefits and techniques for creating biopore infiltration holes through social engagement. The approach taken is based on Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), which prioritizes identifying and utilizing local community assets. The program consists of four main stages: familiarization, asset identification, planning, and implementation. These stages are structured to improve community self-sufficiency and well-being sustainably, engaging the villagers of Made as partners in the process. Overall, the initiative has led to positive outcomes regarding disaster preparedness and community welfare. It has successfully increased understanding of the importance of managing natural resources and the advantages of biopores. The active participation of community members in constructing biopores has resulted in a greater number of infiltration holes in residential areas and agricultural lands. To maintain the program’s sustainability, ongoing monitoring of the biopores and the availability of organic materials is crucial. Furthermore, replicating this initiative in other villages with similar challenges can broaden its positive effects on disaster readiness and community welfare.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in Tawangsari Village, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency, focusing on empowering village officials and local UMKM through digital technology utilization. The main objective was to enhance digital literacy among village officials in managing a YouTube channel as a means of public communication, while strengthening UMKM’ visual identity through logo and banner design. The program applied the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, consisting of several stages: needs assessment, planning, workshop implementation, intensive mentoring, and evaluation. The workshop was divided into two sessions, namely YouTube channel management (content creation, video editing, and account management) and visual design (logo and banner production for UMKM products). Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test assessments, satisfaction questionnaires, and portfolio evaluation of participants’ outputs. The results revealed significant improvements in both digital literacy and visual design skills, as indicated by the increase of average scores from 55 to 83 for digital literacy, and from 50 to 80 for visual design. Furthermore, the village officials successfully launched the official YouTube channel of Tawangsari Village, while UMKM actors produced professional logos and banners to represent their product identity. The program not only improved technical skills but also raised awareness of the importance of branding and digital literacy as a strategy for strengthening competitiveness. In conclusion, ICT-based workshops proved effective in strengthening village community capacity. The main recommendation is the need for program sustainability through consistent content publication on YouTube, continuous use of UMKM logos, and advanced digital marketing training to expand market reach.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' perceptions of the use of Google Translate in learning English as a foreign language (EFL). In the context of globalization and digitalization, digital translation tools such as Google Translate have become an important component in the language learning process. Qualitative research methods are used to obtain an in-depth understanding of how students at STAI Nurul Islam Mojokerto, English Language Education Study Program view the effectiveness and usefulness of Google Translate. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with 50 students from semesters V and VII. The results showed that students often used Google Translate to facilitate text comprehension and complete assignments, but also had concerns about accuracy and reliance on the tool. These findings indicate that while Google Translate offers convenience and efficiency, its use needs to be balanced with authentic language practice to avoid a negative impact on the development of deep language skills. This research provides important insights into how digital translation technology affects the language learning experience and suggests the need for adjustments in teaching methods to optimize the use of translation tools in English learning.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi yang pesat mengakibatkan pendidikan juga berkembang. Penggunaan buku digital sebagai salah satu bentuk adaptasi teknologi dalam dunia pendidikan untuk meningkatkan minat baca sering digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan buku digital dalam meningkatkan minat baca siswa kelas rendah di SDN Badang 1. Dengan fokus pada pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengalaman dan persepsi siswa terhadap buku digital serta dampaknya terhadap minat baca mereka. Metode penelitian ini melibatkan wawancara mendalam dengan siswa, observasi kelas, dan analisis konten buku digital yang digunakan. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah sampel acak dari beberapa siswa di kelas rendah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan buku digital untuk kelas rendah dinilai kurang efektif dengan presentase keberhasilan kurang dari 70%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to develop ELENA, an Android learning application to promote independent learning and advance student writing abilities specifically regarding letters and announcements. The researcher utilized the Research and Development methodology to build the application, following Maribe Branch’s ADDIE model of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation during the creation process. The intended users were 11th grade students at SMK Ar-Rahman Peterongan Jombang. Data collection involved interviews and questionnaires. Expert media evaluation indicated a 97.91% suitability score, meaning the application provided an interesting and interactive platform to learn English. The material expert’s 87.5% score confirmed appropriate educational content for the learning objectives. The 87.7% implementation score showed increased student engagement and activity applying letter and announcement writing skills. Students were more motivated to write in English on those topics while using the technology. Final assessment demonstrated the application’s success at elevating writing proficiency in the target formats of letters and announcements for the participant group based on the metrics utilized in the study. In summary, this customized mobile learning solution enabled independent study and led to measurable writing gains related to the specified skills of letters and announcements for the sample 11th grade vocational high school students. KEYWORDS: Learning Media; ELENA; Writing; Letters and Announcements; Senior High School.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan ELENA, sebuah aplikasi pembelajaran berbasis ICT yang dirancang untuk mempromosikan pembelajaran mandiri dan meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa, khususnya dalam menulis surat dan pengumuman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi Penelitian dan Pengembangan, mengikuti model ADDIE dari Maribe Branch yang mencakup analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi dalam proses pembuatannya. Aplikasi ini ditujukan untuk siswa kelas XI di SMK Ar-Rahman Peterongan Jombang. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan kuesioner. Evaluasi oleh ahli media menunjukkan skor kesesuaian sebesar 97,91%, yang mengindikasikan bahwa aplikasi ini menawarkan platform yang menarik dan interaktif untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Skor 87,5% dari ahli materi menunjukkan bahwa konten edukasi yang disediakan sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran. Skor implementasi sebesar 87,7% menunjukkan peningkatan keterlibatan dan aktivitas siswa dalam menerapkan keterampilan menulis surat dan pengumuman. Siswa lebih termotivasi untuk menulis dalam bahasa Inggris mengenai topik-topik tersebut saat menggunakan aplikasi ini. Penilaian akhir menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi ini berhasil meningkatkan kemahiran menulis siswa dalam format surat dan pengumuman sesuai dengan metrik yang digunakan dalam penelitian. Secara keseluruhan, solusi pembelajaran mobile yang disesuaikan ini memungkinkan pembelajaran mandiri dan memberikan peningkatan kemampuan menulis yang terukur dalam keterampilan surat dan pengumuman bagi siswa kelas XI di sekolah menengah kejuruan. Abstract

The research aims to know treatment combination influence of media composition, media thickness, and paddy seeds density on the result of planting seen from the seed amount per hole, plant depth and level of clumsiness with indojarwo trans planter 2: 1. This research was conducted in Celeban, Agricultural Extension College, Yogyakarta. This research was performed from October 30, 2016 to November 17, 2016. The research method arranged in base pattern Randomized Complete Block Design, consisting 3 factors. The first factor is the composition on media (P), consists of 3 level types, soil 1,5: compost 0,5 (P1), soil 1: compost 1 (P2), soil 0,5: compost 1,5 (P3). The second factor is the thickness of media (M), consists of 3 types, media 1 cm and cover 0,5 cm (MI), media 1,5 cm and cover 0,5 cm (M2), media 2cm and cover 0,5cm (M3). The third factor is the density of paddy seeds (K) consists of 3 types, 60 g/ dapog (KI), 70 g/ dapog (K2) and 80 g/dapog (K3). Each combination receives 2 times treatment, total 54 units of treatment. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine the influence difference between treatment with diverse examination 5% and 1 % and to know the real difference between treatments with 5 % DMR test. The result of the research combination treatment of comparison/ composition seedlings media (P), media seedlings thickness (M), and seed density (K) had no significant effect on the average number of seeds per hole, the average plant dept, and average of seed stands on rice plant. The combination of the treatment of comparison/ composition seedlings (P), the thickness of seedlings (M), and seed density (K) that showed the best result of planting with trans planter parameter number seed/ hole that is combination of P1M2K2, plant dept parameter that is combination P3M2K3, and seed stands parameter on rice plant combination is P3M2K3. Number of seed/holes, depth of planting, and the seed stand of rice plant with trans planter planting, influenced by other factors, its land preparation factor.

Abstract

Literacy is an important competency needed by elementary school students to understand and evaluate the information they receive, as well as to express themselves appropriately and effectively. This community service program aims to increase students' interest in reading, writing and arithmetic at SDN Gongseng Jombang. The method used in this program is the Community Education Method in the form of seminars with the aim of equipping strategic audience in increasing interest in reading, writing and arithmetic. The stages carried out in carrying out this program begin with planning, implementing the core activities of the seminar and closing with an evaluation of the implementation of activities. The audience involved in this activity were students of class VI at SDN Gongseng, totaling 38 students. In general, activities can take place very well. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the audience in attending the seminar and good responses and feedback from the audience. Based on the results of the students' questionnaire, it was obtained: (1) Literacy seminars can foster knowledge and insight into students, (2) Literacy seminars can increase students' interest in reading, writing, and arithmetic, (3) literacy seminars can motivate students to study more actively, (4) Interesting and fun way of delivering material, (5) Reading, writing and arithmetic literacy seminars can trigger the teachers to hold other literacy seminars.

Abstract

In the context of urban agriculture, the utilization of livestock waste is key to improving the quality of agricultural land. Liquid organic fertilizer is one of the products derived from dairy farm waste and other organic materials. This article discusses a community service program run in Murukan Village, which is the center of dairy farming and has great potential in farm waste management. Although cow's milk is the identity of this village, farm waste that has the potential to be used to improve agriculture is still underutilized. In order to optimize the use of livestock waste, the community service team designed and conducted training with the theme "Optimizing the Utilization of Dairy Farm Waste as an Effort to Improve the Quality of POC-Based Agricultural Land." The objectives of this community service program are: (1) Provide an understanding to the service subjects about the utilization of dairy milk waste as the main media for POC as a support for the quality of agricultural land (2) increase the skills of making POC from dairy milk waste. (3) provide motivation to farmers not to depend on synthetic chemical fertilizers. The Asset Based Communities Development (ABCD) approach is used in this program, which focuses on identifying existing assets in the community to support empowerment efforts. The results of this activity show an increase in the understanding and skills of the local community in pete waste management.

Abstract

Urban farming is a rapidly evolving concept in communities where families in residential areas are beginning to play a role in local food production. The implementation of appropriate technology proves to be a highly relevant solution to support urban farming. The goal of this program is not only to provide concrete solutions to the issues faced by partners but also to enhance the benefits of existing assets and potential in the Murukan village community, focusing on improving urban farming productivity, resource conservation, and providing education and empowerment to partners. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method is the approach used in the implementation of this community service program, with stages including: (1) Identifying community needs and potentials, (2) Designing an automatic watering tool, (3) Manufacturing and testing the tool, (4) Training, implementation, and (5) Joint evaluation. The results of this program show an increase in basic knowledge, reaching a 50% improvement from previously limited levels. The practical abilities of partners, which were previously very limited, progressed by 60%, indicating that partners can follow team instructions better. Technical skills of partners also showed significant improvement with a 70% percentage increase. Partner confidence and previously low productivity improved by 40% and 55%, respectively, after participating in this program. The efficiency of tool usage became more effective, with a 65% percentage increase. There was a 55% increase in productivity from the previously low category. Overall, the percentage progress after participating in this program indicates that the program is acceptable and runs well.

Abstract

The need for a village website is increasingly urgent in the digital era, especially as a tool to manage various aspects of village life more effectively. As a government unit that plays an important role in serving the community, villages need a platform that is transparent, easily accessible, and reliable. This community service program aims to optimize the website of Made Village, Jombang, so that it can function as an effective and efficient information system. Through a series of activities such as interface design improvement, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) optimization, and training for website managers, the Made Village website is expected to become a more attractive, informative, and useful promotional media. The approach used in this program is *Community Based Participatory Research* (CBPR), which emphasizes close collaboration between researchers and village communities. This approach involves the active participation of village communities in every stage of activities, from planning to evaluation, so that they have a strong sense of ownership of the results. This participation not only strengthens collaboration, but also encourages communities to be more involved in their village's digital transformation. The results of the program showed an increase in the number of website visitors and user interactions. In addition, this program has succeeded in increasing community awareness of the importance of information technology. It is hoped that the optimization of the village website will not only encourage local economic development through the promotion of products and tourism, but also strengthen the identity of the Made Village community. Through a participatory approach, this program contributes to broader and sustainable social change
