Abstract

Background: Oral Therapists in pediatric dentistry services are to provide oral health care contained in Kepmenkes Number HK.01.07/MENKES/1513/2022, with stages: Assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The implementation of service actions in hospitals, oral therapists only play a role in the intervention stage (assisting pediatric dental specialists), while at the stages of assessment, diagnosis, planning and evaluation in care services are carried out by general nurses (application of complete nursing care) this is because dental therapists do not yet have dental health care. Objective: To develop a pediatric dentistry oral health care model for dental therapist compliance and children's anxiety. Methods:  This research design uses R&D. The sample was divided into 2 groups, the oral health care model in pediatric patients with mesiodens tooth extraction cases as many as 10 respondents and dental therapists as many as 10 respondents on compliance. Analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The oral health care model effectively reduces children's anxiety. The correlation value of R square is 0.583. The coefficient of determination (R Square) is 0.340, that the influence of the model implementation compliance variable by oral therapist on the variable child anxiety in the act of tooth extraction in mediocre cases is 34%. The F value was found to be 4.121 with a significance level of 0.077 (>0.05).Conclusion:  The oral health care model for pediatric tooth extraction with mesiodens cases is feasible and its application is effective in increasing the compliance of oral therapists, reducing children's anxiety in accepting pediatric tooth extraction.

Abstract

The results of the Basic Health Research (2018) stated that the Indonesian population with oral problems aged 55-64 years was 61.9% and aged> 65 years was 54.2%. Some changes in teeth and oral cavity that are often found in the elderly are tooth loss which results in impaired food digestion, pain / pain in the teeth due to periodontal tissue and root caries, reduced vertical dimensions of artificial teeth, gingivitis and various other abnormalities. It is hoped that after being given oral health education through an innovation program in the form of a stroke elderly companion link or what is called “LIPSIAS” can increase the knowledge of stroke elderly on how to maintain their oral health through the help of a companion so that it can have a good influence on their dental hygiene. Research Objectives: Producing a dental and oral health maintenance program through empowering elderly companions in the form of the LIPSIAS Application as a medium for promoting oral health in the Elderly Social Service Home. Using Quantitative methods with pre-experiment research design (one group pretest and posttest design). The sampling technique was purposive sampling consisting of 14 elderly stroke at the Elderly Social Services Home. Results: The results of the statistical test showed P value <0.05, meaning that there was a significant difference in the knowledge of dental and oral health maintenance of stroke elderly before and after being given the LIPSIAS application intervention. Before treatment, the average value of knowledge of stroke elderly was 4.07 (poor category) increased to 8 (good category). The LIPSIAS application is effective in increasing the knowledge of stroke elderly about how to maintain oral health through companion assistance

Abstract

Self-medication is an act of self-treatment performed by the community to overcome toothache. Many people who suffer from toothache choose to self-medicate with pain killers or herbal medicines. The phenomenon of self-medication arose because people felt that self-medication was an easier and more practical option than going to the dentist. The aim of the study was to determine the factors that influence the self-medication behaviour of patients with toothache in the community. The research method used was descriptive observational with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was the community of Batudaa district, and the sample was taken through accidental sampling method using questioner by google form. The results showed that majority of the respondents (91.66%) had practiced self-medication, 33.97% of them used chemical drugs while 41.02% combined chemical and herbal drugs. Mefenamic acid was the most commonly purchased analgesic from the pharmacy (33.97%), while saline solution was the most commonly used herbal medicine (42.94%). The main reason for self-medication by respondents was convenience and practicality (33.33%), followed by experience of recovery with the same medicine (30.76%), and several other reasons were given by respondents. This study found that personal knowledge and previous experience by themselves or peers significantly influenced the choice of medication, including easier, quicker and can be done by themselves, save cost, time and can return to activities immediately. The conclusion of this study emphasises that self-medication behaviour is influenced by convenience and practicality factors, with recommendations for the community to increase knowledge about the use of analgesics and to consult medical personnel before initiating any medication regimen and symptoms do not improve.

Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is highly recommended because the nutrition is suitable for babies. However, there are still many babies who do not get exclusive breastfeeding. For this reason, there is a need for innovation that can be used as an effort to increase the production and adequacy of breast milk for breastfeeding mothers with a combination of Accupresure and Moringa oleifera extract. This study aimed to prove the potential of a combination of acupressure and Moringa oleifera extract as an intervention in increasing the production and adequacy of breast milk for breastfeeding mothers.Subjects and Method: This study used quasi experiment and pretest-posttest design with control group conducted at the Kelingi IV/C Health Center, Musi Rawas Regency, from December 2022-January 2023. It consisted of an intervention group consisting of a combination of 2x4 minutes of acupressure and 650 mg of Moringa oleifera extract and a control group of counseling for breastfeeding mothers, namely 40 breastfeeding mothers with babies 0-6 months. The dependent variables were the hormone prolactin and baby's weight. The independent variable was the combination of acupressure and extra Moringa oleifera. The data were analyzed by Wilcoxon. Results: The indicator affected by the combination of acupressure and Moringa oleifera extract was an increase in milk production using the prolactin hormone indicator after intervention (Mean= 304.60; SD=131.22) than before intervention (Mean= 162.85; SD= 140.44), and this was statistically significant (p<0.001). There was an increase in the adequacy of breastfeeding using the infant's weight indicator after intervention (Mean= 5550.00; SD=1240.75) than before intervention (Mean= 5015.00; SD= 1444.87), and this was statistically significant (p=0.030).Conclusion: The combination intervention of 2x4 minutes of acupressure and 650 mg of Moringa oleifera extract for 10 days effectively increases the production and adequacy of breast milk for nursing mothers. Abstract

Background: Post-core restoration is one restoration after endodontic treatment by optimizing the root canal as a retention. Fracture of the root is the most common failure due to the post being less elastic in holding the chewing load, especially the metal post. FRC post-core indicates to prevent tooth fracture. In addition, the FRC post-core minimizes the reduction of dentine tissue in the root canals, called a minimally invasive dentistry approach. This study examined the effect of the number of fibres on the elastic moduli of fabricated FRC posts using a three-bending point test to determine the elasticity of fabricated FRC posts. Method: The study was experimental laboratory research with the post-only control group design using polyethene fibre (Kerr) and flowable composite resin (Kerr), prefabricated post-core (Kerr). The study was divided into four groups, namely prefabricated, fabricated with a volume of 1 fibre, 2 fibres, and 3 fibres, where each group consisted of 6 samples. Result: There was no significant difference in the magnitude of the force on the specimen (p>0.05). The force among the groups was the same, the alteration (deflection) of the specimens among the groups was significantly different (p

Abstract

K6 visits and obstetric complications scope is one indicator of maternal health program services. Scarcely have these indicator’s achievements met the expected targets so innovation is needed to improve them. The method that can be used to increase the accomplishment is digitalization, through the use of applications to provide and improve the health services quality in monitoring pregnant women. The objective is to design and investigate the GIS (Geographical Information System) influence on pregnancy monitoring practice, especially on K6 visits and pregnant women’s high-risk obstetric complications in Pekalongan City. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with a quasi-experimental research design and posttest control group design. The population is pregnant women with high-risk factors at 32 weeks gestation in Pekalongan City. The total sample is 60 people, who were divided into two groups, namely 30 respondents in the intervention group and 30 respondents in the control group. In the intervention group, pregnant women were given monitoring through the Sipantau Bumil application and K6 visit notifications, while in the control group, the K6 visit schedule was written in the KIA book. Moreover, the data analysis used the Chi-Square test. The result is the siPantau Bumil application has increased K6 visits with a significance value of p-value=0.012 (p<0.005). In addition, it also reduces obstetric complications with a significance value of p-value=0.002 (p<0.005). The conclusion is the GIS-based pregnancy monitoring application can increase K6 visits and reduce obstetric complications.
