Abstract

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Pengalaman Pengguna, Persepsi, Kesehatan KulitABSTRACTThe use of skincare products today extends beyond maintaining skin health; it has become a means of achieving an appearance aligned with evolving beauty standards in society. Many women follow trends and try various products in pursuit of ideal results. This study aims to explore users’ subjective experiences, analyze their perceptions of skincare impacts, and examine the decision-making processes behind product usage. Drawing on the Symbolic Interactionism theory by George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blumer, this research highlights how skincare is perceived as both a symbol of social status and a form of self-care, influencing self-image and social judgments. This qualitative study employed in-depth interviews with eight female informants who actively use skincare products. The findings reveal that many users lack adequate knowledge about product ingredients appropriate for their skin types. Affordable pricing and instant results often become the primary considerations, overshadowing long-term skin health. The impact of skincare usage is not only physical but also tied to personal identity and social perception. Therefore, enhancing consumer literacy on skincare ingredients is essential to support informed, health-conscious decisions beyond trends or marketing appeals. Keywords: User Experience, Perception, Skin Health

The research method used was descriptive-qualitative with data collection techniques through documentation, participatory observation, and in-depth interviews. Data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The exploratory model represents the local knowledge system of the Mayong community regarding sawan mayit through five conceptual frameworks, namely etiology, onset of symptoms, pathophysiology, course of illness, and treatment.
