Abstract

Private companies are an industrial sector that greatly contributes to economic development in Indonesia, especially in terms of employment. The lack of employee engagement that dominates the world of work today with different generations is a problem for company leaders in managing their employees. Private companies must have high-performing employees by involving employees to fully contribute to achieving company goals. Evaluation of employee performance needs to be improved by considering aspects of employee involvement. This research aims to design a conceptual model of the influence of employee involvement on private-sector employee performance. Indicators of employee engagement and employee performance were identified from literature studies. Then, indicators were determined that were relevant to private companies in West Sumatra, then sorted the indicators were based on similarity in terminology. The results of the initial identification stage were 52 indicators of employee engagement consisting of indicators in the dimensions of basic need, management support, teamwork, and growth. Employee performance indicators 39 consist of indicators in the dimensions of effort, job knowledge, quantity, quality, compliance with rules, and interpersonal competence. The next step is validation of the indicators by experts from practitioners, academics, and professionals in the field. The validation results state that all indicators are important and relevant for private companies in West Sumatra. This conceptual model is expected to help private companies improve employee performance.

Abstract

One of the factory equipment that is very important in the cement production process is the suspension preheater used to heat cement raw materials before entering the rotary kiln for the combustion process or clinkerization process to produce clinker which in the next stage is ground into cement. In a suspension preheater kiln system, using a damper is vital because it regulates the flow of hot gas and material in the kiln and adjusts to the operating parameters of the equipment. Therefore, damper operation is reliable and meets safety regulations. One of the dampers used in the suspension preheater system at the Indarung V factory is a fresh air damper which functions to limit the temperature of the gas in the suspension preheater which will be pulled by the ID Fan so that overheating does not occur in the ID Fan impeller. In its operations, the fresh air damper at the Indarung V cement factory often experiences malfunctions caused by damage to the damper actuator due to exposure to heat from hot gases passed through the damper. This project aims to increase the reliability of the damper actuator and minimize maintenance costs, namely by modifying the mechanical power transmission design from the actuator to the damper shaft to reduce the impact of exposure to hot gases and modifying the actuator type from a modulating type to an open-close actuator type following operational needs and PUIL 2011, as well as to meet personnel safety needs. According to the results of commissioning tests and observations carried out from early August 2023 to November 2023, it was found that the test results and performance of the fresh air damper using the open-close actuator type damper functioned according to process requirements without experiencing damage to the actuator caused by exposure to heat in its operation.

Abstract

Research on the topic of lean Manufacturing (LM) has a good trend at the international level. Bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer has been widely applied by researchers to see research trends in a topic, quantitatively assess the current status and quickly identify future research directions based on unique publication parameters. Bibliometric analysis was conducted on 548 articles from ScienceDirect for the topic of LM in the period 2014 to 4 June 2023. From 29 journals it detected the names of journals that frequently published and names of journals that provided opportunities for authors to submit articles. Detected 1449 authors, 591 were the main authors and 858 were co-authors. The majority of the top-30 productive researchers are co-authors. Detected 53 names of countries of the main author, 8 countries that occupy the top-10 are developed countries and only 2 countries are developing countries. In writing articles, the author has a majority team of 2-4 people in one team. Based on the results of the VOSviewer mapping, there is a novelty in research for the keywords additive manufacturing and OEE. Recommendations for further research are that LM research carries manufacturing, focusing on engine performance using OEE indicators and the industry 4.0 approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the state of completeness of facilities related to the implementation of the Construction Safety Management System (SMKK) and its application to the Lubuk Sahung – Pondok Baru; Simp. Puskesmas – Aur Cina Project. The results showed that the completeness of K3 facilities available in the Lubuk Sahung-Pondok Baru; Simp. Puskesmas – Aur Cina Project has a value of 68%. This value is categorized as medium. Application of SMKK in the Lubuk Sahung-Pondok Baru Road Reconstruction/Improvement project; Simp Street. Puskesmas – Aur China is good enough, only the awareness of workers in using PPE is still low.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh jenis dan dosis pupuk majemuk terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang merah di Ultisol. Penelitian dilakukan di Alahan Panjang, Kabupaten Solok, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan dua faktor. Faktor pertama adalah sumber NPK yang terdiri dari Yara Mila Complex (12:11:18+TE) 400 kg/ha dan Yara Mila Winner (15: 09: 20+TE) 400 kg/ha, faktor kedua adalah dosis pupuk posfat jenis SP-26 yang terdiri dari 100 kg/ha, 250 kg/ha dan 500 kg/ha. Setiap perlakuan diulang empat kali sehingga diperoleh 24 satuan percobaan. Data hasil penelitian selanjutnya diolah secara statistik dan jika berbeda nyata dilanjutnya menggunakan uji DMRT pada taraf 5%. Variabel yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah umbi, bobot umbi basah, dan bobot umbi kering. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat interaksi antara jenis pupuk dan dosis pupuk . Dosis pupuk 250 kg/ha menghasilkan jumlah daun perumpun, jumlah umbi perumpun, bobot umbi basah perumpun, dan bobot umbi kering perumpun tertinggi secara signifikan dibandingkan dosis lainnya. Sementara itu untuk jenis pupuk majemuk, pupuk Yara Mila Complex mampu mempengaruhi bobot umbi kering lebih tinggi dibandingkan Yara Mila Winner. Jenis dan dosis pupuk ini mampu meningkatkan peran serta tanah Ultisol di dalam mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman.

Abstract

West Sumatra Province, especially Padang City, is one of the earthquake-prone areas because it is located on the west coast of Sumatra, which is tectonically close to the subduction zone, namely the meeting zone or boundary between two tectonic plates where the movement of these two plates results in a large earthquake. As an area that is prone to earthquakes, knowledge about earthquake-resistant structures is very important. One method that is commonly used today is to carry out analysis to obtain the performance level of the structure. A 7-story government building located in an earthquake-prone area will be the object of this research. The building is made of concrete material, with a frame concept and is used for public purposes, so this structure's level of importance is high. This study examines the condition of a government building's resistance to seismic behavior. The method used is to look at the structural behavior of the 7-story building with pushover analysis. The pushover method is one method of the performance-based design concept. With the ATC-4o standard as a reference, the building is analyzed using the pushover method to understand its seismic behaviour. The results obtained indicate that the building is experiencing immediate occupancy conditions.

Abstract

The burgeoning industrial sector in Indonesia has intensified competition among businesses vying for market share. The furniture industry is a prime example of this dynamic landscape. To expand their market reach, companies must demonstrate their ability to fulfill every consumer demand. Failure to meet these expectations will prompt consumers to seek alternatives. One crucial factor in meeting consumer demands is product availability, which is directly influenced by the availability of raw materials within the company. CV XYZ Furniture, a furniture company based in Padang City, exemplifies this challenge. The company produces a diverse range of furniture, primarily utilizing rattan as its raw material. However, CV XYZ Furniture currently lacks a structured inventory planning method for raw materials, resulting in excess inventory for each period. To address this issue, this research aims to establish an optimized inventory planning strategy for raw materials used in furniture production at CV XYZ Furniture. The continuous review system method serves as the foundation for this endeavor. The research outcomes encompass the determination of optimal demand quantity, reorder point, and safety stock. The implementation of the continuous review system model yielded a significant reduction in total inventory costs, amounting to Rp8,625,594 or 2.03%. It can be proven that the continuous review system model is suitable for calculating raw material inventory at CV XYZ Furniture for raw material planning in the following years.

Abstract

Interoperability in the context of Building Information Modeling (BIM) refers to the ability of different systems, software, and platforms to collaborate and share BIM information effectively. This enables professionals in the construction industry to work together more efficiently and minimize the risk of data loss or communication errors. Effective BIM interoperability is a critical aspect of the success of BIM implementation in construction projects, from the design process to on-site construction. One phase in BIM is the analysis and design of structures. This research addresses the challenges that arise in implementing BIM interoperability between architectural models and analytical models in multi-story buildings. The study was conducted by simulating reinforced concrete and steel multi-story building models, and obtaining structural element designs using ETABS and Revit software in standardized formats. The simulation results are presented in a workflow that identifies the dominant factors in the interoperability issues of each software. The availability of add-ons or plugins between software is a key factor leading to inconsistencies in data and coordinates, as well as discrepancies in the design results from the analytical model to the architectural model in the process of creating shop drawings.

Abstract

Employee engagement is an important issue that is the main concern of the organization's leaders in managing its employees. The changing characteristics of the employee generation are becoming a specific challenge for human resource management. Employees who are engaged with their work will exert all their abilities, efforts, and thoughts and significantly contribute, where the engagement and personal characteristics possessed by employees in carrying out their work can directly impact their performance. This study aimed to analyze employee engagement's effect on employee performance by moderating the generational characteristics of private agency employees in the City of Padang, West Sumatra. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 employee respondents working in private institutions in the city of Padang, with purposive sampling technique. Then, the data is processed using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results of this study indicate that employee engagement generational characteristics (Y and Z generation) have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Generational characteristics (Y and Z generation) also positively and significantly impact employee engagement. Generational characteristics do not moderate the relationship between employee involvement and employee performance, but directly employee engagement and employee performance can be improved with generational characteristic variables. Organizational leaders should pay attention to employee engagement and the characteristics of the generation of employees and can make it a potential to improve employee performance.

Abstract

Peningkatan kualitas pendidikan bergantung pada keberadaan elemen penting seperti fasilitas dan infrastruktur pendidikan, yang mencakup laboratorium. Bridge Simulator adalah laboratorium penting yang digunakan untuk tujuan pelatihan kelautan. Penggunaan Alat Simulator ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa Sekolah Vokasi Pelayaran mengenai peralatan navigasi yang digunakan di kapal, melalui pemanfaatan simulator. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah setelah adanya peralatan simulator diadakan pelatihan penggunaan alat simulator. Temuan penilaian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan tentang kemampuan siswa setelah mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan alat simulator. Pada pembuatan laporan ini akan dijelaskan tentang simulator yang digunakan hingga dampak peralatan tersebut terhadap siswa. Kegiatan ini secara efektif juga meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang peralatan navigasi dan pelayaran seperti yang digunakan di kapal dengan menggunakan bridge simulator.
