Abstract

The dynamics of educational transformation in the digital and disruptive era demand schools to develop an adaptive curriculum that aligns with students’ developmental needs, local potential, and future career orientation. This study aims to formulate strategic directions for developing an adaptive curriculum based on signature school competencies across educational levels to establish the continuity of students’ career profiles. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a systematic literature review method, twenty reputable journal articles were analyzed through content and thematic synthesis. The findings reveal that adaptive curriculum development in Indonesia remains fragmented across educational levels and lacks coherent linkage to students’ long-term career goals. Integration of Holland’s RIASEC career theory provides a scientific framework for understanding career tendencies and embedding them into curriculum design from early education. The study synthesizes five key strategies: (1) early identification of students’ potential and career profiles; (2) formulation of schools’ signature competencies as distinctive identities; (3) progressive curriculum design that ensures cross-level continuity; (4) contextual and project-based learning integration; and (5) adaptive evaluation through career portfolios. This conceptual model positions the adaptive curriculum not merely as an instructional tool but as a transformative framework that empowers every school to develop excellence through unique identities while preparing students to be career-conscious, ethical, and resilient in facing the future of work.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) presents opportunities and concerns for university students, particularly regarding changes in the world of work and emerging competency demands. This study analyzed the relationship between fear of AI and students’ psychological well-being through career anxiety. A quantitative correlational design was used. The participants were 428 university students obtained after data cleaning from 446 initial responses. The instruments measured fear of AI, career anxiety, and psychological well-being. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, regression, and mediation analysis with 5.000 bootstrap resamples. The results showed that fear of AI was positively associated with career anxiety (r = 0,386; p < 0,001), whereas career anxiety was negatively associated with psychological well-being (r = -0,352; p < 0,001). Career anxiety mediated the relationship between fear of AI and psychological well-being, with an indirect effect of -0,175 and 95% CI [-0,259, -0,101]. These findings highlight the importance of understanding fear of AI in students’ career development.

Abstract

Academic self-handicapping is a critical issue as it may hinder students’ academic achievement and personal development. This study aimed to describe the tendency of such behavior among junior high school students. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed. The participants consisted of 83 students who completed an academic self-handicapping questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by categorizing scores into very high, high, moderate, and low levels, and by mapping them into behavioral and claimed self-handicapping dimensions. The findings revealed that 7 students (9%) were in the very high category, 39 students (47%) in the high category, 31 students (37%) in the moderate category, and 6 students (7%) in the low category. In terms of behavioral forms, 48 students (58%) predominantly exhibited behavioral self-handicapping, while 35 students (42%) showed greater tendencies toward claimed self-handicapping. These results indicate a relatively high level of self-handicapping, primarily expressed through observable behaviors that may negatively affect academic performance. The findings highlight the importance of guidance and counseling interventions to promote more adaptive learning strategies

Abstract

Makassar City, characterized by diverse student backgrounds including refugee students, requires teachers to create inclusive and supportive learning environments. However, classroom behavior management practices are still often dominated by punitive approaches that are less constructive. This community service program aims to enhance teachers’ understanding of positive discipline in managing student behavior. The method used was a capacity-building training with a participatory approach, including interactive lectures, group discussions, case studies, and role play, involving 53 teachers from various educational levels in Makassar. Data were collected through a Likert-scale survey administered after the training to assess participants’ understanding. The results indicate that the majority of participants demonstrated a positive understanding of positive discipline concepts, reflected in the rejection of physical punishment (more than 70%), increased awareness of the importance of positive reinforcement (81.1%), and recognition that handling behavioral issues and bullying is a shared responsibility. These findings suggest that the training effectively fostered a more constructive, empathetic, and participatory perspective among teachers in managing student behavior. The program implies the need for continuous support through follow-up mentoring to ensure consistent implementation of positive discipline practices in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trends in the application of behavioral counseling techniques in addressing various behavioral and psychological problems, as well as to map the suitability between clients’ problem characteristics, the use of ABC behavioral analysis (Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence), and the selection of behavioral intervention techniques. This study is important because most previous studies have primarily focused on the application of a single behavioral technique to a specific type of problem, while comprehensive studies synthesizing multiple behavioral techniques within contemporary guidance and counseling practices remain limited. This study employed a literature review approach using content analysis methods on scientific articles and journals published within the last five years. The findings indicate that modeling, assertive training, relaxation, systematic desensitization, and behavior contract techniques demonstrate different patterns of application depending on the characteristics of the problems addressed. In addition, ABC analysis plays an important role in determining appropriate interventions by identifying the relationship between antecedents, behaviors, and consequences. The study reinforces the relevance of behavioral counseling as a systematic, measurable, and adaptive approach in contemporary guidance and counseling services.
