Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of group counseling integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with the traditional Indonesian Dakon game to reduce academic burnout among five high-burnout students in Class XI-5 at SMAN 3 Kediri. Conducted through two cycles of classroom action research, the intervention combined PBL’s critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving with Dakon’s culturally relevant, interactive format, modified with reflective question cards addressing burnout causes and coping strategies. Data were collected via a 58-item burnout scale (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.87), observations, student reflections, and teacher evaluations, with validity ensured through triangulation, member checking, peer debriefing, and audit trails. Pre-intervention, all students exhibited high burnout. Post-Cycle I, 60% remained high, while 40% shifted to moderate. After Cycle II refinements, including contextualized questions and rewards, 60% reached moderate and 40% low burnout, with increased engagement and emotional resilience. The PBL-Dakon approach, rooted in cultural familiarity, fosters autonomy and social connection, aligning with Self-Determination Theory. Practically, it offers a cost-effective, replicable model for school counselors to address burnout, leveraging Indonesia’s cultural heritage to enhance student well-being.

Abstract

This action research evaluates the effectiveness of psychodrama-based group counseling in reducing interpersonal communication anxiety among seven 11th-grade students at SMAN 3 Kediri, identified with high anxiety levels (PRCA-24 scores >70). Conducted over two cycles of Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK), each 45-minute session incorporated warm-up, enactment, and sharing phases. Data were collected using a 24-item anxiety scale (Cronbach’s α = 0.87), observations, student reflections, and counselor evaluations, analyzed via descriptive statistics, N-Gain, Wilcoxon signed-rank tests, and thematic coding. Pre-intervention, the average anxiety score was 72.14. Post-Cycle I, it decreased to 55.57 (N-Gain = 0.22), with 43% of students reaching moderate levels. Cycle II refinements, including relatable scenarios and assertiveness training, reduced the average to 39.50 (N-Gain = 0.45, p = 0.018), with all students achieving moderate anxiety. Psychodrama’s experiential, group-based approach, aligned with Indonesia’s collectivist culture, fostered peer support and emotional resilience. This cost-effective, culturally sensitive intervention offers a replicable model for school counselors to enhance students’ communication skills and well-being, with implications for broader educational applications.

Abstract

This socialization discussed the importance of developing a Child Friendly School environment as a strategic effort in preventing verbal violence and strengthening children's mental health. Verbal violence that often occurs in school settings leaves a significant long-term psychological impact on children's development. Through a comprehensive approach, Child Friendly Schools offer a framework that supports children's rights, builds positive communication, and creates an emotionally safe learning environment. The program integrates positive communication training for educators, the development of a character education curriculum and the implementation of a sustainable psychosocial support system. By involving all school components, including teachers, staff, students and parents, Child-Friendly Schools not only mitigate verbal violence but also build a strong mental health foundation for future generations. This socialization presents good practices of program implementation in various schools along with an evaluation of its impact in reducing the number of verbal violence and improving children's mental health indicators.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low speaking ability of children in group A of RA Tarbiyatul Khoiriyah. This problem is caused by the lack of varied learning methods and the use of learning media that have not been able to optimally attract children's attention and interest. In fact, speaking ability is an important aspect in early childhood language development, which plays a role in communication and further learning processes. Therefore, an innovative and interesting approach is needed to encourage children's speaking skills. This research aims to develop children's speaking ability through storytelling activities using Paflaber (Pictured Flannel Board) as an interactive visual aid. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach model Kemmis and Taggart, which is implemented in three cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects in this study were 20 children aged 4–5 years, consisting of 10 boys and 10 girls. The instruments used in the research included open modules, child performance assessment sheets, as well as observation notes and activity documentation. The results showed a significant increase in children's speaking ability in each cycle. Learning completion increased from 30% in the pre-action phase to 40% in cycle I, 60% in cycle II, and 85% in cycle III. The implications of this research result indicate that Paflaber media is very effective in improving the speaking skills of early childhood children. This media not only helps children understand the content of the story through visualization but also stimulates active involvement and verbal interaction. Therefore, Paflaber media is recommended as one of the creative learning strategies that can be implemented by early childhood teachers to develop children's language skills in a fun and meaningful way.

Abstract

The background of this research highlights the crucial role of vocabulary mastery in children’s language development, which significantly impacts their social interactions and learning processes. This study focuses on developing the Magic Star Box as a learning medium aimed at enhancing the gross motor skills of children aged 4–5 years. The Magic Star Box is an adaptation of stop-motion media, designed to create an engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere by integrating words and images. The research applies a Research and Development (R&D) method, simplified into four stages: identifying potentials and problems, collecting data, designing the product, and validating the design. Validation from subject matter experts and game design experts indicated that the Magic Star Box is feasible for improving children’s vocabulary. This medium is expected to provide an innovative, engaging, and effective learning solution for young learners

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Panji stories as a medium for strengthening local wisdom in Kediri in creative writing learning based on Augmented Reality (AR). Using a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey method, the study involved 250 junior high school students from 5 public junior high schools and 7 private junior high schools in Kediri City. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire consisting of 10 multiple-choice questions (a-d) that measured students' perceptions of the AR learning website, its impact on creative writing motivation, and their understanding of local wisdom. The results showed a very high level of student satisfaction with the AR learning website (mean 3.52-3.65), an increase in creative writing motivation in 67.2% of students, and an increase in understanding of local wisdom in 70.0% of students. AR technology has proven effective in bringing the Panji story to life as an immersive learning experience, increasing student engagement, and preserving local cultural heritage through educational technology innovations relevant to the digital generation.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of development of the ability to recognize alphabet letters in group A children at Darut Taqwa Kindergarten, Kediri City, which was caused by a lack of tools or media for learning to recognize alphabet letters that were able to attract children's attention. The problem to be solved in this research is "Can learning using Bulbinca Media develop the ability to recognize letters of the alphabet in group A children of Darut Taqwa Kindergarten, Kediri City, academic year 2023/2024?" The subjects in this study were 17 children, consisting of 9 boys and 8 girls. This research uses Kemmis & Taggard's Classroom Action Research (PTK) design. The characteristic of this classroom action research is that it is carried out in cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. Data collection instruments in this research used teaching modules, children's performance assessment sheets and learning activity observation sheets. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that learning using Bulbinca Media has been proven to be able to develop the ability to recognize letters of the alphabet in group A children of Darut Taqwa Kindergarten, Kediri City for the 2023/2024 school year. This is evidenced by the increase in the percentage of learning completeness from pre-action to cycle II, namely pre-action by 35%, cycle I by 59% and cycle II by 76%. Because the success/completion of classical learning in learning the ability to recognize alphabet letters using Bulbinca Media Cycle II has exceeded 75%, there is no need for the research to continue to Cycle III.
