Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent girls in Indonesia. One preventative measure is the regular consumption of iron (Fe) tablets, but compliance remains low. This study aims to analyze factors associated with adherence to iron (Fe) tablet consumption among adolescent girls in Pati Regency. This study was a quantitative, observational, and analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The population was 291 female students at SMP Negeri 1 Cluwak, with a sample of 187 respondents selected using simple random sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire, and data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test or its alternative test with a significance level of <0.05. The results showed that knowledge factors (p<0.001; PR= 3.59; 95% CI=2.56-5.05), attitudes (p=0.001; PR= 1.52 95% CI=1.16-1.98), motivation (p<0.001; PR= 3.27; 95% CI=2.45-4.38), and support from health workers (p=0.011; PR= 1.36; 95% CI=1.08-1.71), were significantly related to compliance behavior in consuming iron (Fe) tablets. Meanwhile, support from schools, peers, family, and access to information did not show a significant relationship. It was concluded that compliance behavior of adolescent girls in consuming iron (Fe) tablets was influenced by internal factors and support from health workers. It is recommended that health workers and schools be more active in providing education and routine monitoring to improve compliance in consuming iron (Fe) tablets in adolescent girls.

Abstract

The internet has become an essential source of information for adolescents, especially when it comes to accessing information about reproductive and sexual health. However, inadequate access to accurate reproductive and sexual health information, minimal parental supervision, and a culture that considers sexuality a taboo topic make adolescents vulnerable to misinformation and risky behavior. The absence of sex education in schools and limited access to reproductive health services further exacerbate this problem. On the other hand, the SDG 2030 target emphasizes universal access to reproductive health information and services. This study focuses on how high school students understand and evaluate reproductive and sexual health information from the internet and the factors that influence their access and interpretation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants were selected using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The research subjects were students from SMK X and SMA Y Semarang. In this study, saturation was achieved in the 10th interview with the primary informants (students aged 15-19 years) with an interview duration of 30-45 minutes per informant. In addition, there were four triangulations of teachers and two triangulations of close friends. Data analysis was performed using thematic analysis with NVivo 12 software. The results show that the internet is the primary source of reproductive and sexual health information for adolescents, but their ability to sort information is still limited. Cultural barriers, conservative norms, and generational gaps hinder open communication, while family and school support remain weak. There is a need to integrate SRH material into the curriculum, train teachers, and improve adolescents' digital literacy through collaboration between families, schools, and communities.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health nutrition problem in Indonesia, particularly in Brebes Regency, which has one of the highest stunting prevalences in Central Java Province. Stunting can originate during the prenatal period and is influenced by maternal lifestyle factors during pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal lifestyle during pregnancy—including dietary patterns, physical activity, and stress levels—and the incidence of stunting among children aged 24–59 months in Brebes Regency. A case–control study design was employed involving 144 respondents (72 mothers of stunted children and 72 mothers of non-stunted children) selected from several public health centers. Data were collected through structured interviews using validated questionnaires and analyzed using bivariate analysis and logistic regression. The results showed that maternal dietary patterns, stress levels, and physical activity during pregnancy were significantly associated with stunting incidence. Mothers with unbalanced dietary patterns had a higher risk of having stunted children (OR = 2.87; p = 0.002). Similarly, moderate–high maternal stress (OR = 2.54; p = 0.004) and inappropriate physical activity (OR = 2.39; p = 0.006) were significantly associated with increased odds of stunting. Maternal lifestyle during pregnancy plays a crucial role in determining child growth outcomes. Therefore, stunting prevention strategies should prioritize prenatal interventions through improved nutritional education, stress management, and promotion of safe physical activity for pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a significant health problem among the elderly population, with an estimated prevalence ranging from 60% to 80%. Proper treatment of hypertension in the elderly is essential, as it can lead to decreased quality of life, difficulties in social and physical functioning, and an increased risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Objective: This study explores the potential use of autosuggestive techniques as a new intervention in managing hypertension in the elderly to improve health outcomes and quality of life. Method: The method used is bibliometric analysis to map and synthesize related literature in the Scopus reputable database. Key Results: The main results of the analysis show that managing hypertension in the elderly requires a comprehensive approach, including knowledge, attitudes, and practice (KAP) intervention models, family support, and the development of self-empowerment models. Autosuggestive techniques have the potential to be integrated into this approach as a novel intervention that can improve blood pressure control and quality of life in older people with hypertension. Conclusion: This study concludes that autosuggestive techniques can be a promising intervention to improve health outcomes and quality of life in the elderly with hypertension. Integrating these techniques into a comprehensive hypertension management approach can provide significant benefits to the elderly population.
