Abstract

The objective of the study was to identify the responses of oil palm seedlings to drought stress conditions during pre-nursery cultivation. The research was conducted at two locations: the Maguwoharjo Educational and Research Field (Kebun Pendidikan dan Penelitian/KP2) and the Central Laboratory of the STIPER Yogyakarta Institute of Agriculture. The research was carried out from April to July 2021. A factorial experimental design with two factors arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) was used in this study. The first factor consisted of three hybrid oil palm varieties: D×P SAIN-2 (V1), D×P SAIN-3 (V2), D×P SAIN-4 (V3). The second factor was the irrigation frequency or drought stress level, with three levels: watering once a day (F1), watering every 2 days (F2), and watering every 3 days (F3). The research data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at significant level of 5%. In the event of significant differences being identified among the treatments, further testing was conducted using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level. The result showed that there was no significant interaction between different varieties and irrigation frequencies on oil palm seedling growth in the pre-nursery stage. However, the variety D×P SAIN-4 exhibited significant effect on stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, and fresh stem weight. Under drought stress conditions, the best growth performance was observed in oil palm seedlings of the D×P SAIN-4, followed by the D×P SAIN-2. Additionally, irrigation frequency influenced stem diameter and leaf number. Overall, oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery stage showed the best growth when watered once a day. In the pre-nursery cultivation stage, all oil palm seed varieties can tolerate watering every 2 (two) days

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyse the utilisation of assets earned by Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) and its impact on their relationships in Tanjung Mas Jaya Village, East Mesuji Subdistrict, Mesuji Regency. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach with field research in the form of case studies. Informants were selected purposively based on certain criteria, including migrant workers, their spouses, parents-in-law, and neighbours who had relevant experience, particularly related to the misuse of migrant workers' earnings. Data collection techniques included primary data in the form of interviews and documentation, as well as a literature study from secondary sources. The results of the study show that (1) the assets earned by migrant workers are often used by their spouses without prior agreement, contrary to the intended purpose of sending funds, such as for children's education, home renovations, or business capital. The causes include a lack of communication, the absence of a written agreement, and the influence of social pressure and the consumptive lifestyle of spouses in their home country; (2) the impact of this misuse on family relationships, namely the emergence of domestic disharmony, divorce, and psychological effects on children.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to encourage teachers to utilize information and communication technology (ICT) to improve the use of learning methods, so that the learning process becomes more interactive and interesting through the development of ICT-assisted teaching materials at MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. This workshop involved 33 teachers and was held on November 30, 2024. The stages of the activity include preparation, implementation, discussion, and Q&A. This PkM activity succeeded in achieving its goal of motivating teachers to maximize the use of technology in learning through the development of teaching materials, even though there were challenges that had to be faced. The evaluation results showed a positive response from teachers.

Abstract

Despite the growing implementation of Deep Learning-oriented instruction in mathematics education, empirical evidence remains limited regarding how its integration with mathematical recreation is reflected in students' achievement profiles and mathematical understanding in algebraic operations. This study aimed to examine students' achievement profiles following the implementation of a Deep Learning-based instructional module integrated with mathematical recreation. A descriptive quantitative design was employed involving 38 seventh-grade students at a junior secondary school. Data were collected through a post-instruction achievement test and analyses of students' written responses. The findings showed that students achieved a mean score of 81.00, with 81.6% meeting the Minimum Mastery Criterion, while achievement was predominantly concentrated in the medium-ability category. High-achieving students demonstrated stronger conceptual understanding and procedural fluency, whereas medium- and low-achieving students continued to experience difficulties in symbolic manipulation, identifying like terms, and applying operations involving negative signs. These findings indicate that the integration of Deep Learning principles with mathematical recreation was associated with generally satisfactory learning outcomes while revealing meaningful variation in students' mathematical understanding. Beyond reporting average achievement, this study demonstrates that achievement profiling combined with analyses of students' written responses provides richer pedagogical evidence for evaluating mathematics instruction and contributes to the growing literature on Deep Learning by offering a more comprehensive framework for understanding students' learning outcomes in algebra.
