Abstract

This study attempts to develop a collaborative-based learning model that can increase self-efficacy and positive attitudes of Primary Teacher Education (PGSD) students toward inclusive education in Indonesia. This study is intended to provide an understanding to PGSD students who are also teacher candidates. The understanding is about the importance of positive attitudes and teaching abilities, which in this study are limited in self-efficacy. The present study employed the Research and Development (R & D) research model. The research participants were elementary school teachers who teach in inclusive schools and 54 PGSD students. Quantitative and qualitative techniques were used to analyze the data. Mann–Whitney U test was used to determine changes in students' self-efficacy and attitudes before and after learning activities. The results indicate a significant difference in self-efficacy with p sig < 0.05. The t-test result is 0.119. As the tcount is greater than the ttable (0.119 > 0.05), it indicates that there is no significant difference. Hence, it can be inferred that there is no statistically significant difference in developing a collaborative-based lecture model aimed at enhancing self-efficacy and fostering favorable attitudes among PGSD students towards inclusive education in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

One of the causes of low student learning motivation is the lack of engaging and need-based instructional media developed by teachers for specific subjects. Educational games can foster intrinsic motivation by stimulating students' curiosity, thereby supporting the teaching and learning process in formal educational environments. This study aims to analyze the validity of an educational game developed to enhance students' learning motivation through a validity test. The development process employed the Research and Development (R&D) model recommended by Borg and Gall. Data collection instruments included validation sheets from media, material, and language experts, a media usage guidebook, observation guidelines for media implementation in learning, interview guidelines for teachers and students, and a student motivation instrument. The data analysis technique used was descriptive quantitative analysis. The validity test results indicated that the media's validity level was categorized as good. The product quality category from the instrument experts showed a score of 0.785. Since the Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.785, which is greater than 0.60, it can be concluded that the reliability test was deemed reliable. Therefore, the educational game developed is considered feasible and effective for improving students' learning motivation in elementary schools.

Abstract

PISA's assessment criteria aim to gauge the efficacy of educational systems in equipping students with the skills to utilize mathematical knowledge across various life aspects, thereby nurturing them into constructive, engaged, and reflective citizens for the 21st century. Our research focus is on scrutinizing the current spectrum of research and advancements relevant to the integration of e-learning, gamification, and personalized learning methodologies within elementary mathematics education. The Game Development Life Cycle process encompasses an iterative methodology with six distinct phases: Initiation, Pre-Production, Production, Testing, Beta, and Release. The beta testing phase, which involved 265 respondents, was conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) to assess the usability of the new software. The SUS, a proven and efficient tool, consists of a 10-item questionnaire that gauge’s users' overall satisfaction with the product.  This result serves as a valuable feedback mechanism, guiding the development team on where to focus their efforts in refining the software's interface and functionality to enhance the overall user experience in subsequent iterations. The integration of e-learning, personalization, and gamification in elementary mathematics education offers promising benefits in terms of accessibility, engagement, and learning outcomes. However, challenges such as the digital divide and the need for teacher training must be addressed to maximize their potential. The presented game development methodology serves as a structured guide for creating effective personalized educational games, contributing to the ongoing discourse on innovative approaches to mathematics education.

Abstract

Many pre-service teachers in Teacher Professional Education (PPG) programs lack the competence to develop effective teaching materials aligned with curriculum goals. Understanding by Design (UbD) offers a structured approach to support this development through backward design. This study employed a quantitative research design using purposive sampling to select 116 PPG students as respondents. Data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Findings reveal that UbD effectively supports the development of Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) through its three core stages: identifying desired learning outcomes, designing appropriate assessments and tasks, and planning targeted learning activities. Respondents demonstrated increased competence in aligning instructional strategies with learning objectives through this framework. The results suggest that UbD provides a practical model for guiding teachers in curriculum-aligned material development. The structured approach helps educators better understand learning goals and translate them into classroom practice. UbD is an effective framework for improving PPG students’ mastery of Subject Specific Pedagogy. It is recommended that teacher training programs integrate UbD principles into their instructional models. Teachers are also encouraged to continuously refine their teaching strategies in line with evolving curriculum demands.
