Abstract

The study was aimed at (1) examining school factors (school sector, teaching and instruction, schoolresources and technology, school climate, school teachers and leadership activities) influenced readingliteracy, and (2) investigating how the factor interacts with reading aspects (reading experience, process and comprehension, and reading attitudes and behaviours). The study used Progress in International Reading Literacy (PIRLS) 2006 and 2011 data that was categorized as secondary data. The study was quantitative research and employed Rasch and hierarchical linear modelling (HLM) analyses. The subjects of data 2006 were 4774 and 2011 were 4779 Primary-School students nested within 158 schools sampled using a random sampling technique. Findings of the study revealed that only some school factors were influential. There were identifiable significant correlations between reading literacy and school factors such as school sector and teaching instruction in 2006, and between school sector, teaching instruction and leadership activities in2011.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing moral degradation in Indonesia makes moral education is in high needs. This research is a qualitative research that seeks to find scaffolding strategies applied by teachers in fostering moral literacy among children through the use of image reflection media and finding narratives that are built from children's reflections. Ten elementary school students in Central Java, Indonesia were involved in this study. In collecting data, researchers used semi-structured interviews and observations to strengthen research data. As for analyzing the data, this study uses thematic analysis. Although it has several shortcomings, the research subjects show positive response regarding the use of the image reflection method as an effort to foster moral literacy in early childhood. This method is expected to be an alternative measure in moral teaching, especially at the elementary age level

Abstract

Digital literacy requires school resilience. The purpose of this study is to describe the profile of school resilience and strategies for strengthening school resilience in order to strengthen digital literacy. The method used in this study is a descriptive method that combines quantitative and qualitative (mix method). The research was conducted at SMN N 1 Mungkid involving 40 teachers and 100 students with a multistage random sampling model. The sampling technique in this study was determined using the Lameshow formula, with a total sample of 140 people. Data collection techniques were also carried out using a questionnaire technique through online media (google form) and documentation. The analytical technique used is descriptive with the Excel program using a categorization method based on percentage calculations. The results showed that the overall resilience of Mungkid Junior High School in facing the digital literacy era according to teachers and students was at the lower score, which is in the category of positive resilience building scale (teachers: 31%; Students: 40%). The strategy for strengthening school resilience in the digital literacy era are (1) adapting to situations and conditions, (2) school intervention in overcoming environmental risks and transitions, (3) identifying factors that can help schools overcome crises, (4) skills mapping to identify training needs, (5) identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the education system, and (6) documenting the learning gained by taking into account the availability of school human resources (HR), continuous professional development, communication, network support, adaptation and knowledge-based development.

Abstract

Ideal assessment in teaching and learning should involve the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains following the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, which emphasizes Pancasila values. However, whether teachers can develop affective domain assessments optimally is still questionable. A literature study has been conducted by researchers and found that in Indonesia, teachers tend to develop cognitive domain assessments more than affective and psychomotor domain assessments. Therefore, this research uses a phenomenological approach to investigate the implementation of affective domain assessment conducted by school teachers. The participants of this study consisted of 18 middle school teachers in Indonesia. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaires, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). Data analysis was conducted using the model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which consists of three stages: 1) data reduction, 2) data display, and 3) conclusion drawing. The study found that teachers understand affective assessment well and emphasize the importance of instilling affective values in education to reduce moral problems. They also emphasize the need for changing teaching strategies and providing relevant materials to help students understand their lessons. However, the planning for affective assessment is time-consuming and the implementation in middle schools is not ideal. Subject teachers often handle this assessment, which should be the responsibility of all teachers, rather than just Religion, Guidance and Counseling, and Civic Education.

Abstract

The use of innovative learning media is still especially in elementary school (SD). This will address the problem in Social Science (IPS) which until now still assumed as a tedious lesson and demands memorization, as well as less material in accordance with the development of society again. The solution is to develop Digital Storytelling or known in the Indonesian language as a digital fairy tale. The use of Digital Storytelling for IPS in elementary school, which is one of the objectives is to develop affective aspects of students, will give the meaning that IPS as a subject that is able to improve students' feelings about acceptance, response, assessment, and character development. For students, Digital Storytelling will attract attention so that will be more motivated to learn IPS. Students need to be trained as early as possible in the future to be able to have a high understanding and empathy in facing social problems in their environment

Abstract

This study aims to determine the enhancement of student learning outcomes by employing a practicum-based inquiry learning model focusing on temperature and heat. This classroom action research was conducted involving 36 students in grade XI at SMAN 2 Lembang 2022-2023 school year. The instruments consist of tests, questionnaires, and observations were utilized for data collection. Data analysis involved calculating the mean scores for affective, psychomotor, and cognitive domains, along with the percentage of students meeting or surpassing the KKM. Findings revealed improvements in learning outcomes across all domains throughout the pre-cycle, cycle 1, and cycle 2. Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving above the KKM in the cognitive domain, increased from the pre-cycle by 66%, in cycle 1 by 77%, and in cycle 2 by 92%. The teaching and learning implementation scores for cycles 1 and 2 were 3.0 and 3.3 respectively, both of which fall into the high category.
