Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of academic supervision at SDN 005 Tana Tidung from three perspectives: the principal (supervisor), the supervised teachers, and the students after the teachers received supervision. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that the supervisor carried out the evaluation of academic supervision effectively, covering aspects of effectiveness, feedback, documentation, reflection, and follow-up actions. Teachers perceived the process as beneficial for improving their teaching skills, instructional planning, professional attitudes, as well as their reflective and self-evaluative capacities. From the students’ perspective, supervision fostered a more positive learning atmosphere, enhanced motivation and satisfaction, improved learning outcomes, and contributed to a more conducive learning environment.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of academic supervision as one of the strategies employed by school principals to enhance teachers’ professional competencies, given that supervision practices still tend to be administrative in nature and are not yet fully oriented toward continuous professional development. This study aims to describe and analyze the stages of implementation of school principals’ academic supervision in enhancing teachers’ professional competencies through the aspects of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up of supervision at Madrasah Masanema. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with informants comprising the madrasah principal, the curriculum vice principal, senior teachers, and junior teachers. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while data validity was tested through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicate that academic supervision is implemented through systematic planning, implementation based on authentic observation—including the review of teaching materials and direct classroom observation—team-based evaluation, and follow-up tailored to teachers’ needs through training, mentoring, and reflective discussions. This study concludes that academic supervision based on authentic observation is capable of continuously improving teachers’ professional competencies and has the potential to become an effective professional development model for improving the quality of learning in Madrasah.

Abstract

In the 21st century, educational institutions face the challenge of aligning global academic standards with character integrity and institutional sustainability. To address the empirical gap in single-site studies, this multi-site research explores the implementation of Integrative Islamic Education Management across three distinct Islamic Boarding School (IBS) junior high schools in East Java. The study aims to compare how these schools simultaneously synchronize academic excellence, bilingual ecosystems, and holistic student welfare. Using a qualitative cross-case study design, the study collected data from 24 strategically selected informants through semi-structured interviews, moderate participant observation, and rigorous document analysis, followed by within-case and cross-case thematic synthesis. The findings reveal that while execution strategies vary, ranging from international curriculum adoption and data-driven acceleration programs to progressive instructional adaptation, all three schools effectively harmonize rigorous cognitive development with daily spiritual practices. Furthermore, functional language literacy is achieved through continuous residential habituation, while proactive counseling and responsive administrative governance foster psychological well-being. The study concludes that sustainable institutional quality in modern boarding schools relies on a Tawhidic Total Quality Management paradigm. By synergizing academic rigor, immersive linguistic environments, and holistic student services, faith-based schools can successfully bridge international academic competitiveness with deep-rooted Islamic character formation.
