Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted education, requiring innovative teaching methods to maintain students' engagement and learning outcomes. This research investigates the effectiveness of using YouTube videos as a tool to enhance students’ speaking skills in an online learning environment. Conducted with senior high school students, the study applied a mixed-method approach, combining pre-tests, post-tests, and qualitative observations. The findings reveal that YouTube videos significantly improved students' speaking skills by providing authentic materials, engaging content, and opportunities for self-paced learning. Furthermore, the students demonstrated increased motivation and confidence in speaking English. Challenges, such as internet accessibility and selecting appropriate video content, were also identified. This study concludes that YouTube videos can be an effective alternative teaching medium, particularly during times of limited face-to-face interaction, provided they are used strategically to align with learning objectives

Abstract

The program is an initiative to improve English language skills among students and educators in rural schools. The background to this program is limited access to effective English language learning in rural areas, which has an impact on students' low English language skills and limited opportunities to compete at a wider level. This program implements interactive, contextual and participatory learning methods, specifically designed to meet learning needs in rural areas. Through various activities such as basic English training, conversation sessions, daily interaction simulations, and teacher involvement in mentoring, this program provides an interesting and applicable learning experience for students. By involving the school community and the surrounding environment, this program is expected to create a sustainable impact, strengthen students' and teachers' confidence in using English, and prepare them for various educational and employment opportunities in the future. The community-based approach in this program not only benefits students, but also empowers educators to adopt more engaging and contextual teaching techniques. Through ongoing evaluation, it is hoped that this program can become an effective English language learning model in rural areas.

Abstract

Abstract

Land disputes, which frequently arise, require comprehensive policies and integrated solutions for effective resolution. At the national level, the government has issued technical regulations through Ministerial Regulations. In Aceh, however, land dispute resolution also falls under the jurisdiction of regional laws, including the Aceh Governance Law and Qanun, which reflect customary practices. This study employs an empirical legal research method, using a socio-legal approach to analyze how law operates within the society. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis. Respondents included officials from the Land Office, members of the Aceh Customary Council (MAA), customary leaders, academics, and local community members. Documents reviewed consisted of legal regulations, case reports, journal articles, and academic texts related to land disputes. The study finds that the Land Office resolves land disputes through a multi-step process: Case Study, Preliminary Assessment, Investigation, Presentation of Findings, Coordination Meeting, Final Assessment, and Case Resolution. However, traditional leaders and institutions such as the Aceh Customary Council have not been involved in this process, despite their official role in supporting governance, development, community affairs, and social conflict resolution. Currently, the Land Office and customary institutions operate independently, each following its own procedures. The study argues that a more integrated approach between the two entities could enhance the effectiveness of land dispute resolution. Such collaboration would strengthen the legitimacy and public trust in both institutions. Furthermore, customary law has demonstrated its capacity to resolve societal conflicts, including land disputes, thereby underscoring the value of incorporating traditional mechanisms into formal legal processes.

Abstract

The North Aceh Regency Government established BPR Aceh Utara as a means of public service for PAD sources. BPR Aceh Utara runs a conventional business in accordance with the Banking Law. In 2018, the Aceh Government formed the Qanun LKS, which stipulates that financial institutions operating in Aceh are based on Sharia Principles. In OJK Letter Number: S-29 / KO.05011 / 2018, it is emphasized that all financial institutions in Aceh are required to switch from conventional to sharia, the Qanun LKS. However, BPR Aceh Utara cannot be transferred to the sharia system because the North Aceh Government, as the Controlling Shareholder, did not make capital participation and restructuring, so that its business license was revoked by the OJK with its decision Number KEP-27 / D.03 / 2024 concerning the Revocation of BPR Aceh Utara Business License. This is very detrimental to customers, employees, local governments, and the community. This study uses normative and empirical legal research methods, incorporating a statutory approach, a conceptual approach, and a comparative approach. Data collection was carried out through library research, including an analysis of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials as well as non-legal sources. Additionally, field research was carried out through interviews with respondents and informants who can provide relevant information about BPR Aceh Utara. The results of the study indicate that: First, efforts to improve the health of BPR Aceh Utara are not optimal because the Controlling Shareholder does not make capital participation as determined by the OJK and regulated in the Qanun on Capital Participation. Second, legal protection for customers is carried out by LPS by making savings payments that meet the requirements. Third, the Regional Head as the Controlling Shareholder is not responsible for the bankruptcy of BPR Aceh Utara. It is recommended that the regional head strengthen capital, foster BUMD management so that they are able to provide public services and PAD income.
