Abstract

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common reproductive health problems experienced by adolescent girls, significantly affecting daily activities and academic performance. Non-pharmacological approaches such as abdominal stretching offer a safe, simple, and cost-effective alternative for reducing menstrual pain. This community service activity was conducted at SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau from April 11 to 17, 2022, aiming to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in managing dysmenorrhea through abdominal stretching exercises. The program included education, demonstration, independent practice, and pre- and post-test evaluations. The results showed that most participants experienced a reduction in menstrual pain intensity and improved understanding of dysmenorrhea management. The intervention proved to be effective and feasible to be integrated into regular school health programs. Additionally, the activity empowered adolescents to take a more active role in maintaining their reproductive health. Further research is recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of abdominal stretching on a broader scale.

Abstract

The most common complication that occurs in developing countries is bleeding, namely 27% (UNICEF, 2015). One of the post partum psychological disorders in Indonesia is baby blues, which is 0.9% (Banlitbangkes, 2018). One of the factors causing low utilization of maternal health services is cultural practices (WHO, 2018). The proportion of people who use traditional health services in Indonesia is 31.4% and those who use traditional health workers is 98.5%. The proportion of utilization of traditional health services in South Sumatra is 29.5%. Then the number of people who ask for help from traditional health workers is very high, namely 98.4% (Banlitbangkes, 2018). Community service results show that the health cadre team experienced increased knowledge and post partum maternal health problems were controlled by all mothers in Pegayut Village who gave birth and made postpartum visits to the village midwife. It can be concluded that the Saving Mothers Giving Life (SMGL) approach is a multi-system approach to reduce maternal mortality and to prevent post-partum maternal complications in Pegayut village. Abstract

Women's reproductive health must be prioritized because women experience the life cycle of pregnancy and childbirth. This cycle can cause complications, one of which is pregnancy, namely bleeding, the incidence of antepartum bleeding/haemorrhage/ HAP is very vulnerable when you are still pregnant (Trimester I) which is often associated with abortion. The impact of abortion is that it causes pain and even death for the mother. The aim of this community service activity consists of long-term goals that will be achieved including living, growing, reproducing and being able to carry out normal activities, while the short-term goal is that pregnant women can understand the prevention of incomplete abortion and how to handle it. The activity received enthusiastic health cadres, and support from the Head of the Merdeka Community Health Center, Head of the Nursing Department, Lecturers, and Students of the D3 Nursing Study Program in Palembang, Poltekkes, Ministry of Health, Palembang, with the result that almost all cadres experienced an increase in knowledge after attending trauma emergency training: antepartum haemorrhagia/ HAP/ pregnancy bleeding : incomplete abortion.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period of rapid physical and psychological development, making adolescents vulnerable to reproductive health issues. Breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns for women in Indonesia, and early detection through breast self-examination (BSE) is crucial for reducing mortality rates. This study aimed to identify the barriers and needs of adolescent girls regarding early breast cancer detection through BSE using a mixed-methods approach. A mixed-methods design was used, combining a quantitative cross-sectional survey with qualitative in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The target population was adolescent girls aged 15–24 years who attended high school and lived with parental support. The sample consisted of 172 adolescent girls, selected using purposive sampling for the quantitative analysis. Participants for the qualitative component were also chosen through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire adopted from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) and analyzed through univariate and bivariate methods. Qualitative data were analyzed inductively using NVIVO software. BSE behavior was significantly influenced by age (p = 0.010), ethnicity (p = 0.000), social environment (p = 0.002), internet access (p = 0.011), information media (p = 0.000), family (p = 0.000), and peer influence (p = 0.000). Barriers included limited knowledge, lack of confidence, and communication gaps. Social and environmental factors significantly influence BSE behavior. Developing an interactive, application-based breast care education model can address these barriers and enhance BSE practices among adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Adolescent Reproductive Health (KRR) is a government program in Indonesia that has been implemented since 2000. The aim is to ensure that the young generation is healthy and prosperous. Teenagers are still looking for answers to reproductive health problems themselves, consulting friends, social media and other online sources because they do not fully understand the material offered in this program. Adolescents may be more likely to participate in risky behavior, such as engaging in sexual intercourse at a younger age, due to the ease of obtaining information. Methods: The "SEHATI" app, developed as a result of this research, will teach teenagers more about reproductive health. By using the ADDIE methodology (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation), this research adheres to a Research and Development approach. Results: Media experts gave a product validation score of 75%, material experts gave a score of 100%, and educational practitioners gave a score of 99.5%, all of which indicate that the product is very suitable for use. Scores of 77.3% and 88% were achieved in small-group trials and large-group trials, respectively. This shows how well the product works. As many as 89% of students gave positive answers throughout the evaluation stage. Conclusion: With an 80% increase in student understanding, this app has great potential for future improvements in terms of content, realism, language, presentation, graphics and student learning motivation with the hope of becoming a resource for the younger generation to learn more about reproductive health.

Abstract

Adolescence is the time when a person goes from child to adult in 10 to 24 years. This period is a worrying time for teenagers when they want to get away from dependence on their parents, feel curious to know more and are very vulnerable to risky behavior. Bina Lestari High School students have never been given counseling on how to maintain adolescent reproductive health (KRR). In order for the reproductive health status of adolescents to be maintained, it is necessary to provide assistance for health and welfare care for adolescents. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge, understanding, behavior and attitudes of adolescents about reproductive health. The health education method used is in the form of counseling and mentoring discussion groups with the snake and ladder game media (MEDULA). The results of the evaluation showed that many Bina Lestari High School students gained increased knowledge after they studied reproductive health through the snake and ladder media, which included understanding reproductive health, reproductive organs, puberty, menstruation, unwanted pregnancy, and abortion, as well as sexual diseases and HIV-AIDS.

Abstract

In 2022, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide. In 2022, 670,000 women died of breast cancer worldwide. This study aimed to analyze the factors that determine breast self-examination behavior (sadar) in adolescent girls. This study was conducted in the city of Palembang from April to June 2024. The design of this study was cross-sectional. The research team consisted of 18 teams spread to the smallest areas. Data collection used questionnaires and direct observation, with some ratio data categorized to facilitate statistical testing. The population of this study were adolescent girls aged 15-24 years who had both parents, lived with their parents, and were enrolled in high school at the time of data collection (inclusion criteria). The Chi-Square test was used for analysis, with data processing using computerized statistics at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results of this study indicate that behavior related to breast self-examination (BSE) is influenced by age (p = 0.010), ethnicity p = 0.000), social environment (p = 0.002), internet access (p = 0.011), information media (p = 0.000), family (p = 0.000), and peer influence (p = 0.000). In conclusion, there is a relationship between breast self-examination behavior and age, ethnicity, social environment conditions, internet access, information media, family influence, and peer influence. The implications of the findings of this study are the need to increase information and education regarding the importance of BSE in the early detection of breast cancer, especially for groups that are vulnerable to the disease.
