Abstract

Dung beetles are invertebrates that an important ecosystem balance as decomposers. The distribution of beetles are influenced by the habitat form and the presence of animal feces. Gunung Palung National Park has an area 90,000 ha, in which there is Cabang Panti Research Station which a tropical forest with various types of habitats and animals. This research aims to determine the species of dung beetles in Cabang Panti Research Station. The research was located in six different habitats, such as peat swamp, freshwater swamp, kerangas, alluvial, lowland sandstone and lowland granite. Dung beetles were collected by baited pit-fall trap method plus feed of orangutan’s and human’s feces. Dung beetles found in Cabang Panti Research Station is 1939 individuals, 3 subfamilies, 7 tribes, 11 genus and 32 species. Three subfamilies were found consist of Aphodiinae (1 species), Coprinae (27 species) and Scarabaeinae (4 species). The most commonly found species of dung beetles from Onthophagus Genus (21 spesies). The most individuals of dung bettles are Paragymnopleurus maurus (1259 individuals). The highest number of species is found in the type of kerangas habitat (23 species) and the lowest is found in type of peat swamp habitat (15 species).

Abstract

The population of frogs in Gunung Palung National Park is indicating a decline due to habitat degradation and hunting. The aim of this research is to determine the species of Anura at five habitat with using Complete Species Inventories (CSI) method combined with Time Search method. The study found 27 Anura species included in 6 families namely Megophryidae (Megophrys nasuta), Bufonidae (Ansonia sp. and A. spinulifer), Microhylidae (Microhyla malang, and M. perparva), Ranidae (Meristogenys jerboa, M. whiteheadi and Staurois guttatus), Dicroglossidae (Limnonectes leporinus and L. kuhlii), and Rhacophoridae (Kurixalus appendiculatus, Rhacophorus sp., R. gauni, and R. pardalis).

Abstract

Capapuya or Barbourula kalimantanensis is an endemic lungless frog in Borneo that live in water, but data on this frog's habitat is still very limited. This study aims to obtain data on habitat characteristics and in the Melawi sub-watershed, namely the Mentatai and Ella stream. The research was conducted in August-December 2019. Each location is divided into three stations with each station divided into three points. Data were collected during the day and night by measuring the characteristics of water, vegetation, and recording temperature and humidity. The results of this study found three individuals of B. kalimantanensis in the Mentatai and one individual in the Ella stream. The habitat of B. kalimantanensis in the Mentatai and Ella stream is characterized by a rocky substrate, shallow water (<1 m), high dissolved oxygen content, low carbon dioxide content and riparian vegetation dominated by Dipterocarpace.

Abstract

Mercury chloride (HgCl2) is one of the heavy metals that are harmful to the environment and can accumulate in aquatic organisms, such as Sucker Mouth Catfish, Pterygoplichtys pardalis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the damage of the hematocrite values and hemoglobin of P. pardalis exposed to mercury chloride. This study used a Randomized Block Design method with 54 male fish and six treatment groups, namely Control (0 ppm); P1 (0.01 ppm); P2 (0.02 ppm); P3 (0.04 ppm); P4 (0.08 ppm); P5 (0.16 ppm). Hematological tests showed a significant difference between treatment and control, while the different hemoglobin values with controls only at a concentration of 0.16 ppm. Mercury chloride causes damage to hematological disorders in P. pardalis

Abstract

Kesehatan merupakan faktor kebutuhan utama manusia untuk dapat melangsungkan aktivitas hidup dengan sempurna. Kesehatan masyarakat terganggu bila terdapat kuman yang menginfeksi tubuh. Corona  atau Severe  Acute  Respiratory  Syndrome Coronavirus  2 (SARS- CoV-2) adalah virus yang menyerang  sistem pernapasan. Penyakit ini dapat menyebabkan infeksi paru-paru yang berat, hingga kematian. Data bulan April 2020, Kecamatan Pontianak Timur dilaporkan mempunyai angka kasus positif Covid-19 paling tinggi diantara kecamatan lain di Kota Pontianak.  Kelurahan di Kecamatan Pontianak Timur yang dilaporkan mempunyai angka kasus Covid-19 antara lain Kelurahan Tanjung Hulu, Kelurahan Parit Mayor, Kelurahan Banjar Serasan, Kelurahan Tambelan Sampit, Kelurahan Dalam Bugis dan Kelurahan Tanjung Hilir. Kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat tentang kesehatan dan cara mengatasi permasalahan kesehatan sangat perlu dilakukan  suatu bentuk sosialisasi dengan cara memberikan edukasi tentang permasalahan kesehatan dan cara mengatasinya. Cara yang sangat memungkinkan pada masa pandemi ini adalah dengan tidak langsung bertatap muka namun dapat dilakukan secara tidak langsung yaitu melalui leaflet dan contoh produk.  Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan edukasi kesehatan dalam mencegah Covid-19 kepada masyarakat. Metode yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini adalah memberikan edukasi dan penyuluhan melalui leaflet yaitu cara pembuatan hand sanitizer dan masker serta contoh  produk hand sanitizer dan masker yang diberikan kepada masyarakat. Sebelum pelaksanaan kegiatan, sebagian besar masyarakat (90%) di Kecamatan Pontianak Timur belum menerapkan protokol pencegahan Covid-19 yang benar. Setelah pelaksanaan kegiatan diperoleh hasil berupa peningkatan kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat (100%, n=100 orang) mengenai upaya pencegahan Covid-19 serta cara pembuatan masker dan hand sanitizer.

Abstract

Karang jamur (Fungiidae) ditemukan di perairan Indonesia sebanyak 29 spesies salah satunya berada di wilayah perairan pulau Kabung, Kalimantan Barat. Hingga saat ini belum tersedia data apapun terkait spesies dan sebaran Karang Jamur yang berada di wilayah perairan Pulau Kabung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan data tentang distribusi dan faktor lingkungan yang mempengaruhi karang jamur. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juli–September 2019 dengan menggunakan metode (transek sabuk). Kepadatan karang jamur yang ditemukan di perairan Pulau Kabung berkisar antara 0,01–0,05 ind/m², kepadatan relatif berkisar 7,62–32,88%, frekuensi kehadiran 66,67–100%. Pola sebaran karang jamur di perairan Pulau Kabung termasuk dalam kategori mengelompok (Cycloseris vaughani, Fungia fungites, Fungia horrida dan Fungia spinifer) dan acak (Fungia scabra). Faktor lingkungan yang mempengaruhi distribusi karang jamur di perairan Pulau Kabung seperti kecerahan, oksigen terlarut, kalsium, dan alkalinitas.

Abstract

Cycloseris vaughani is a mushroom coral from the stony coral group (Scleractinia). It is usually found free-living or colony-formed. C. vaughani can adapt to the environment through differences in body size that varies in each individual. The research aims to determine the variations in body size of C. vaughani in Kabung Island waters. Data were collected by using the belt transect method at 3 research stations. The average body size of C. vaughani individuals shown from 3 research stations was 1.1±3.7 cm, 7.1±1.3 cm and 6.3±1.2 cm. There was a significant difference in body size of the mushroom coral C. vaughani in Kabung Island waters.

Abstract

The cultivation of Namalycastis rhodochorde nypa worms is still experiencing obstacles due to the high mortality rate of larvae, which can be caused by unsuitable conditions for the maintenance media. This study aims to obtain data on the conditions of environmental factors during larval rearing in the laboratory. This study observed environmental factors in 5 larval rearing treatments, namely 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 individuals/L with the size of the rearing tub (37×26×14 cm3). During rearing larvae are given 0.3×10-3 Chlorella vulgaris feed and fermented palm fronds. Data were collected every 10 days for 3 months. The parameters for observing environmental factors were water pH, water temperature, air temperature and salinity.  The results showed that the average water pH was 7.6 with a range between 7.3-7.9, an average water temperature of 25.6 °C with a range between 24-28 °C, an average air temperature of 25.9 °C with a range between 24-29 °C, and the mean salinity of 13.7 ppt with a range between 13-16 ppt. The results of the research on water quality during maintenance were relatively standard, thus supporting survival and growth of N. rhodochorde nipah worms.

Abstract

The black nypa worm (Namalycastis cf. terrestris) has not been widely used as an object of research, but its habitat in mangrove waters has been converted into agricultural land and tourist attractions. The purpose of the study was to obtain data on the distinguishing morphological characteristics of the black nypa worm Namalycastis sp. with other Namalycastis worms in the same habitat. Sampling was carried out 12 times for 3 months with a total sample of 68 worms consisting of 8 male individuals, 58 female individuals, and 2 juvenile individuals. The morphological characters measured included color, body length and weight, parapodia type and setae type which were then analyzed by t-test. Black nypa worm N. cf. terrestris is blackish green with a body length of 15,2-57 cm and a weight of 1,18-16,25 g. The prostomium has a pair of palps and the peristomium is equipped with 4 pairs of peristomial features and a pair of jaws. Parapodia of sub-biramous type without notopods. Setae N. cf. terrestris is golden brown with black acicular. Notopodial setae consist of sesquigomph spiniger, supra-neuroacicular setae consist of sesquigomph spiniger and heterogomph falsiger, and sub-neuroacicular setae which are heterogomph spiniger and heterogomph types. Black nypa worms are distinguished from other worms in the same genus and habitat only by body color.

Abstract

Kecamatan Sungai Kakap memiliki potensi sumberdaya perikanan dan telah direncanakan menjadi kawasan minapolitan. Potensi tersebut didukung juga oleh masyarakatnya yang memiliki mata pencaharian sebagai petambak dan nelayan, namun informasi teknis terkait perikanan masih minim sehingga ketersediaan sumber daya belum banyak dimanfaatkan. Salah satu sumber daya yang belum dimanfaatkan adalah cacing nipah sebagai bahan baku pakan ikan berprotein tinggi. Tujuan kegiatan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pembuatan pakan ikan (pelet) berbasis tepung cacing nipah. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Rural Appraisal. Hasil kegiatan memperlihatkan bahwa kelompok masyarakat sasaran yaitu memberikan apresiasi positif dan masyarakat merasa terbantu. Hasil analisis pembuatan pakan berupa pelet yang dibuat saat pelatihan menunjukkan kandungan proteinnya telah memenuhi standar untuk pakan ikan nila. Kegiatan yang dilakukan telah mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan baik pengumpul cacing nipah maupun petani ikan nila karamba.
