Abstract

The Indonesian government's relocation of the national capital (IKN) from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is a strategic policy to address various challenges Jakarta faces, such as severe congestion, high population density, and natural disaster risks. Additionally, this move is expected to promote equitable development and accelerate economic growth in the eastern regions of Indonesia, which have lagged compared to Java Island. The realization of the infrastructure development budget for IKN in East Kalimantan has reached 97.50%, with the construction sector as the primary driver. This study aims to find out the general picture of the construction sector in East Kalimantan and analyze the construction sector's role through the fiscal policy of IKN infrastructure development in increasing output and employment. The method used is interregional input-output analysis. The results show that the construction sector is one of the key sectors in East Kalimantan, with an output multiplier of 1.87 and a labor multiplier of 0.003. An increase in final demand of 25.78 trillion rupiahs caused an increase in output in all sectors of the national economy of 48.32 trillion rupiahs and the absorption of 76919 workers.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to analyse the variables that influence labour productivity in Indonesia, with a focus on the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth towards the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses panel data from 34 provinces over the period 2015–2022. The estimation model used is Feasible Generalised Least Squares (FGLS). The variables analysed include physical capital, human capital, trade openness, real wages, mobile phone ownership, and internet access. Findings: The results show that physical capital, human capital, trade openness, real wages, and internet access have a significantly positive impact on labour productivity. On the contrary, mobile phone ownership has a significant negative impact, indicating that the utilisation of ICT for productivity is still not optimal. Research limitations/implications: The research is limited to provincial-level data and quantitative ICT indicators, thus it has not captured the aspects of quality and user behaviour. Further studies can explore the interactions between variables and the long-term effects of ICT utilisation. Practical implications: The government needs to promote the equitable distribution of internet infrastructure, enhance digital literacy, and implement policies that can reduce the disruptive impact of ICT on workers, in order to optimise the potential of digitalisation inclusively. Originality/value: This research offers a new contribution by using provincial panel data from 2015–2022 and analysing the differences in the impact of ICT between the western and eastern regions of Indonesia, as well as explicitly integrating ICT indicators into the analysis model. Paper type: Research paper.   Keywords: Output Gap, NTB, Potential RGDP, R-Statistics.

Abstract

West Nusa Tenggara Province has an infant mortality rate that surpasses the national average. Additionally, it is also characterized as having a high Gini ratio and gender inequality index. Therefore, this study aims to examine the differences in classification among different regions, the long-term and short-term impact, and the causal relationship between socio-economic factors and female indicators in relation to infant mortality. This study used the co-integration method of the panel VECM and applied the natural breaks (Jenks) classification method based on panel data from 10 regencies/cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province between 2012 and 2022. This study discovered two instances of co-integration where the life expectancy of women was found to have a negative impact, while the percentage of women working full-time was found to have a positive impact on the long-term infant mortality rate. Infant mortality rates in the short term showed a significant relationship with the cointegration coefficient, mean years of schooling of women, life expectancy of women, and percentage of women working full-time. There is a direct causal relationship between the mean years of schooling of women and the percentage of people living in poverty and the infant mortality rate. This study is expected to serve as a basis to guide the Government of West Nusa Tenggara Province in promoting equity in education, equal job opportunities, adequate healthcare facilities, and increased investment to decrease infant mortality.

Abstract

Creating decent jobs for persons with disabilities makes workers with disabilities ready to compete in the labor market. Along with the times, the role of the internet and technological developments have reached a very rapid level which can help determine the status of workers with disabilities. Apart from the influence of the internet and technology there are other demographic factors that affect the status of workers with disabilities. The purpose of this research is to look at an overview of workers with disabilities from several factors and analyze the influence of internet technology and other variables on the status of workers with disabilities in Central Sulawesi Province. The method used is binary logistic regression analysis. The results of the study found that the role of the internet and technology greatly influenced the status of disabled workers during normal circumstances and during a pandemic. However, there is a decrease in the odds ratio due to the pandemic factor. The use of the internet and digital technology increase the chance for persons with disabilities to work in the formal sector.

Abstract

Abstract

Research Originality: This research investigates how digital technologies influence environmental quality in Indonesia.Research Objectives: This study examines the impact of digital technologies and socioeconomic variables on environmental quality in Indonesia.Research Methods: This study employs the System-Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) approach and analyzes data from 2013 to 2023. Key variables include digital technology, gross regional domestic product (GRDP), foreign direct investment (FDI), and mean years of schooling.Empirical Results: Computer ownership negatively impacts environmental quality due to higher energy consumption and e-waste. In contrast, GRDP improves environmental quality as wealthier regions invest in green infrastructure and stricter policies. FDI has a harmful effect, supporting the ‘pollution haven’ hypothesis of resource exploitation and unsustainable practices. Education fosters environmental awareness, though its influence is still limited.Implications: Digital technologies can enhance environmental quality, requiring strategic planning and continuous innovation by central and local governments.JEL Classification: O11, O13, Q56How to Cite:Kartiasih, F., Rosanti, H.P., Miswa, S.D., & Hakim, A.R. Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the impact of e-commerce on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and categorize GRDP according to e-commerce features in 17 provinces throughout Java, Sumatra, and Bali. The Human Development Index (HDI), which measures people's proficiency with technology—among which is e-commerce—is greatest on these three islands. This study makes use of big data in the form of Google Trends data as well as official statistics data obtained from the BPS-Statistics Indonesia. K-means clustering and regression analysis are the research methods employed. The study's findings demonstrate that the three islands' GDP growth rates are considerably accelerated by e-commerce companies. There were two ideal clusters identified: the low and high GRDP clusters. All of the provinces on the island of Java are included in the high cluster, with the exception of Central Java, which is distinguished by high transaction values and e-commerce-related keyword searches. Provinces in the low cluster are located on the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Bali, and they are distinguished by the usage of Cash on Delivery (COD) and a limited number of employees in e-commerce businesses.

Abstract

Abstract

Air quality and global warming, which cause climate change and affect many aspects of human life, have become important topics in recent years. The objective of this study is to assess the influence of greenhouse gas emissions on industrial added value, energy consumption, food crop production, and air temperature in Indonesia. The period covered is 1990–2022. The Granger causality test and the vector error correction model are employed to establish the causal connection between the variables, and the unit root test is used to confirm the data’s stationarity. The study’s findings demonstrate that, over the long run, greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia are known to be positively impacted by energy use, crop output, and temperature. Short-term analysis shows that air temperature has a negative impact on greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia, but the added value of industry, energy consumption, and food crop output have a favorable impact. In light of the study’s findings, it is anticipated to serve as the foundation for the Indonesian government’s deliberations when implementing the required policies to lower greenhouse gas emissions, while still paying attention to the added value in the industrial sector as well as a basis for determining other policies. In addition, controlling fossil energy consumption must also be actively carried out by intensifying the use of renewable fuels. Keywords: Greenhouse gases, Industrial value added, Energy consumption, Food crop production, Air temperature, VECM
