Abstract

Political speeches are not merely tools of communication but also strategic means of shaping public opinion. The choice of diction, discourse structure, and language style in political speeches plays a vital role in constructing the image of candidates and influencing public perception. Semantic analysis of campaign speeches becomes a significant aspect in understanding how language is employed as a tool of political persuasion. This study aims to analyze the denotative and connotative meanings, language styles, as well as the messages and values contained in the campaign speeches of three candidate pairs for Regent and Vice Regent of Deli Serdang in the 2024 regional election. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with semantic and discourse analysis techniques. The data source consists of campaign speech transcripts obtained from official video documentation of the candidate pairs. The results show that all three candidate pairs use denotative meanings to convey explicit information related to their work programs and connotative meanings to build their public image and emotional connection with voters. The language styles used include metaphors, repetition, hyperbole, and euphemism, which enhance the persuasive power of political messages. The values emphasized in the speeches reflect the candidates' vision and character, such as justice, honesty, and religiosity. The findings also indicate that campaign speeches are highly relevant as learning materials in Bahasa Indonesia classes, particularly in enhancing students' critical literacy skills in understanding persuasive texts and meaning structures. This research is expected to contribute to the field of linguistics, especially in the areas of semantics and language education. Abstract

The teaching of biographical recount texts in tenth grade often encounters obstacles such as low student comprehension, a lack of engagement in the learning process, and the use of conventional teaching methods that are less effective. This indicates a need for interactive learning media capable of enhancing student understanding and motivation. Abstract

This research investigates the systematic development and implementation of coaching-based learning techniques aimed at addressing common language errors among elementary students. Utilizing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology with the ADDIE model framework, this study demonstrates how coaching approaches can transform traditional error correction practices into student-centered learning opportunities. The research findings reveal significant reductions in grammatical, lexical, and phonological errors among participating students, with notable improvements in confidence and self-regulation skills. The coaching techniques developed through this structured process show particular effectiveness in fostering student autonomy and metacognitive awareness, enabling elementary learners to identify and address their own language errors more effectively than traditional correction methods. These findings contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting coaching-based pedagogies in elementary language education.
