Abstract

Creative thinking is a mental activity that a person uses to build new ideas or ideas. To develop student creativity, a good and innovative learning process is needed. One of the learning models that can actively involve students and increase student creativity is Problem Based Learning (PBL). The purpose of this study was to identify differences in students' creativity and thinking skills between the application of case-based learning and conventional learning in the vector control and rodent courses. This research was conducted at the Department of Public Health, University of Jambi in the fifth semester students with an interest in environmental health with a total of 37 students. The research design was in the form of a quasi-experimental class involving the experimental class and the control class. The instrument used is a test sheet with indicators to measure thinking ability and creativity, a communication skill test sheet, and an assessment report sheet. Data were collected twice through pre-test and post-test. Processing and data analysis using Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed that most of the students were still less active during lectures using the conventional / lecture method, as many as 15 people (40.5%). Students only pay attention, remain silent and there are no questions or comments related to the lecture material presented. The results of the statistical test showed that the p.value was 0.000, the p-value < α (0.05), which means that there is a difference in student learning outcomes using the conventional / lecture method using the PBL method. This means that there is an effect of giving the PBL learning method on the thinking ability (learning outcomes) of fifth-semester students with an interest in environmental health, majoring in public health sciences, FKIK Jambi University in vector control and rodent courses. This study concludes that the application of the case-based learning model is expected to increase students' creativity and thinking skills and hone communication skills by being actively involved in a complex learning process based on case studies. Abstract

There has been a reduction in prevalence of stunting nationally, the prevalence is still high in several regions, including Kerinci Regency. This study focused on identifying hotspots for stunting cases in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province, utilizing spatial autocorrelation analysis. The research aimed to pinpoint specific regions with high prevalence of stunting in 2019, 2020, and 2021, highlighting the importance of tailored interventions at the village level to combat stunting effectively. This research utilized data on stunting cases sourced from the community-based nutrition recording and reporting system (e-PPGBM) from 2019 to 2021. Spatial autocorrelation analysis was conducted using the global and local indicator for spatial auto correlation (LISA) with village as the analysis unit. This study found the Moran Index values in 2019, 2020, and 2021 were 0.148, 0177, and 0.238 respectively. Hotspots were found in specific regions of the regency in each year, with shifts in distribution patterns observed. In 2019, hotspots were in the southwest region, in 2020 in the central part, and in 2021 in the southwest region. These findings highlight the importance of targeted interventions at the village level to address issues effectively. Continued monitoring and targeted efforts are crucial to address the shifting patterns and improve the overall nutritional status of the population.

Abstract

Treatment of hypertension can be done through a healthy lifestyle and the use of antihypertensive drugs. The use of antihypertensive drugs alone has proven to be insufficient in controlling blood pressure in the long term effectively. Compliance with drug consumption is also a very important factor. This type of finding is quantitative through a cross sectional design. The sample selection technique uses simple random sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires, then univariate and bi-variate data analysis using the chi-square test. The frequency distribution of medication adherence levels by hypertensive patients at Kebun Handil Community Health Center, Jambi City, highlights the existence of significant problems in medication adherence among the population studied. The analysis shows that not all demographic and environmental factors have a significant relationship to the level of adherence to taking hypertension medication.

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension in Jambi City has continued to increase over the past five years, including in the Simpang Kawat Community Health Center (Puskesmas Simpang Kawat). Meanwhile, the cost of hypertension care and treatment for the community is relatively high, especially if complications arise and are not covered by insurance, which can lead to catastrophic expenses that weaken households' economic conditions. This community service activity aims to provide education and outreach regarding hypertension and its impact on healthcare costs. Thirty people with hypertension in the Simpang Kawat Community Health Center (Puskesmas Simpang Kawat) participated in the activity. The core activities included providing information about hypertension and its consequences on healthcare costs, anti-hypertension exercises, outreach regarding the risk of catastrophic expenses, and explanations of various government support programs. The results showed that 80% of participants experienced a significant increase in knowledge, and there was a difference in knowledge levels between before and after the implementation of the Community Health Center (PPM) (p=0.000). The government and the Community Health Center are recommended to strengthen campaign efforts to encourage the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle and actively participate in health programs that can help reduce healthcare costs and avoid catastrophic expenses

Abstract

Dental caries in children remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, including in Jambi City. Based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey, the prevalence of caries in school-aged children reached over 40%, impacting quality of life, academic achievement, and the economic burden on families. Low knowledge and inappropriate tooth-brushing behavior are the main factors contributing to the high incidence of caries. The objective of this community service is to improve students' dental health knowledge and behavior, and to implement a professional collective toothbrushing program in elementary schools. This activity consisted of five stages: coordination with partners, dental health education, collective toothbrushing practice, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The community service activity successfully improved children's knowledge about dental health and brushing skills.

Abstract

The incidence of degenerative diseases, which are part of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), remains a major cause of death worldwide and in many regions of Indonesia. Meanwhile, efforts to prevent degenerative diseases affecting the adolescent age group are still rare, such as the establishment of a Youth Posyandu, including in Sungai Duren Village. There is no health post that provides youth care services in Sungai Duren Village, while there are many teenagers living there (students under 21 years old) with various lifestyles that are at risk of degenerative diseases. This study aims to analyze the increase in adolescent knowledge about CERDIK between before and after the establishment of the Youth Posyandu in order to prevent degenerative diseases early. This study is a quasi-experimental study involving 30 adolescents by measuring the dependent variable of knowledge. The research instrument used is a questionnaire. Computerized data processing and analysis were conducted through descriptive statistical analysis and T-test analysis. The results showed a significant difference in respondents' knowledge of CERDIK before and after the establishment of the Youth Posyandu in Sungai Duren Village (p=0.000). This study indicates that structured health education can improve adolescents' understanding of CERDIK and can be used as an effective promotive and preventive strategy.
