Abstract

ASD children exhibit social functioning issues that indicate difficulty communicating with others and often do not understand why they have to have social interactions with other people. One way of helping them is to develop media based on their needs. This research aimed to analyze the specifications of the media required. The study is designed as a mixed-methods study. The data were collected using a questionnaire in the form of a survey and combined with interviews. The respondents to the survey consisted of 24 respondents from Malaysia, the Netherlands, Canada, and Indonesia, and include teachers from inclusive schools. The selection of the sample used purposive sampling techniques to ensure that they had background knowledge either in education, linguistics, or special education and were willing to be included in the research. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study show that the media have essential specifications that are: the media should be in the language that supports their learning; the media developed should be able to establish their purpose; the media developed should be able to provide learning support; the media should be in different variations to provide meaningful learning; the media should consider various factors that can affect their ability to access and benefit from different forms of media; the media should be meaningful for assessing students' progress and achievement; and the media should provide various functions. These specifications are the basis for developing the media based on the needs of students with ASD.

Thus, they did not pay attention to grammar which triggered the Approximation happening.

Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has made the traditional learning system distance learning. Some research outside the Indonesian context states that distance learning has become commonplace, but it is different from Indonesia. So that the supporting factors faced by students in carrying out remote teaching are different, especially in the Indonesian context. Since remote teaching was implemented, there have been many obstacles experienced by teachers and students in following the learning process. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions regarding the supporting factors for the implementation of remote teaching. This study uses mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) which aims to analyze more valid and accurate data results. The focus of this research is 142 eleventh grade students who have carried out remote teaching. In data collection, researchers conducted literature studies, interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study show that there are ten factors supporting the implementation of distance learning found in the matrix literature review and confirmed by the subject. The supporting factors found can be used as guidelines for the government, teachers and students in implementing the distance learning process in the future.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the difficulties experienced by students in speaking English after the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the efforts of teachers in overcoming these difficulties. The main objectives of this study were to identify the difficulties faced by students in speaking English and explore the strategies implemented by teachers to overcome them. This study used a qualitative approach with observation and interview methods as primary data collection techniques. The subjects of the study consisted of 31 students of grade 8A and an English teacher. Data analysis was conducted descriptively. The results showed that the main difficulties of students in speaking English included lack of vocabulary, low levels of focus, and nervousness. To overcome these difficulties, teachers have implemented two main strategies: first, giving students time to read and understand English sentences and vocabulary; second, using visual media such as images and videos, and presenting native speakers directly. These strategies have proven effective in increasing students' focus during the learning process. The implications of this study indicate the importance of utilizing adaptive learning strategies in overcoming obstacles in English learning, especially in the post-pandemic context.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the use of DeepL in learning can have an impact on students' ability to write English and to find out how the implementation of DeepL impacts students' writing ability. This study uses a mixed method in helping researchers to obtain data, namely Quasi Experimental Non-Equivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control Group Design on quantitative pre-test and post-test student provision as a form of quantitative data and interviews for qualitative data. The sample involved in this study was 56 students who were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which was the group that received the treatment and also the control group where the researcher conducted conventional learning activities. The use of deep learning in English learning does not provide sufficient impact even though in the acquisition of interview data students have an interest in DeepL. As a result of this research, the researcher assumes that the use of AI-based applications in learning still needs more development and attention. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Deep, writing skills

Abstract

This study explores the use of terms of address by local people (Krama Desa Adat) in Lemukih village, Buleleng Regency, Bali. The research identifies the types, functions, and social factors influencing these terms of address. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and recordings, then analyzed using the Huberman Data Analysis Model (Miles and Huberman, 1994). The study revealed 27 distinct terms of address used by the local community, categorized into personal pronouns, kinship terms, first names, power and hierarchy, and mockery terms. Each term serves unique functions, such as attracting attention, showing politeness and behavior, indicating power and hierarchy, reflecting identity, or expressing intimacy. For example, terms like Bape (Father) and Mbok (Sister) signify politeness, while Bayan and Nyarik denote power and hierarchy. The study also highlights six social factors influencing their use: gender, age, cultural norms, power and hierarchy, context/setting, and social status. These terms are deeply rooted in cultural values and reflect the intricate relationship between language, social structure, and community interactions. The findings emphasize the unique linguistic characteristics of Lemukih village and the need for preserving its local dialect, especially as younger generations increasingly shift to using Indonesian. This research provides significant insights into the sociolinguistic dynamics of Lemukih village and contributes to the broader understanding of linguistic diversity and cultural preservation in Bali.
